All they need is justification to get a character named Mike Donovan on and get Marc Singer back. And Michael Ironside as Ham Tyler.

Seriously, the Diana news has me so giddy to watch the show now. I was "meh" about it most of the season, but this news is just so great.

Michael Ironside is a little too old and puffy nowadays, but man, the new merc is horrible.

They could at least put some effort in describing his previous line of work (being British it wouldn't be hard to write a badass past about being a gun for hire in some African nation or whatever) but he is a walking stereotype that does nothing but grumble and stare menacingly. I also find hilarious how conspicuous he looks. He is doing a sterling job blending with the crowds with that ripped physique and his all-black wardrobe of tight jeans and form fitting t-shirts...

Michael Ironside may be old and puffy, but he still looks like a mean hard ass and has the voice of doom. Just have him come in and be an old superior to the current mercenary. Just have him come in and yell at people and tell them what is what. I would be fine with that.

Now he just has the scary old man vibe. Still awesome.

Some info/spoilers for what to expect in Season 2 which premieres in November.

Actress Jane Badler, best known for her role on the original "V" series, will join the cast of ABC's "V" as a recurring guest star, playing Diana, mother to Anna (Morena Baccarin), who is now the leader of the Vs. Badler will make her debut in the Season 2 premiere of the series.

"V," which received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series, stood as television's No. 1 new drama during the 09-10 TV season in the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic, delivering substantial year-to-year improvement in both of its Tuesday time periods (8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.). "V" finished No. 1 in both time periods among key Men (M18-34/M18-49).

Season 2 will feature more character and lizard reveals, more details about the Vs' mythology - in which Badler will play an important role -- and more action and more plot twists. Viewers can expect a roller coaster ride week to week.
"V" stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack, Charles Mesure as Kyle Hobbes, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker.

"V" is produced by HDFilms in association with Warner Bros. Television. The executive producers are Scott Rosenbaum, Steve Pearlman and Jace Hall.

Morena gave a great V panel at dragoncon and refired my interest in this show, but DAMN if they don't just get totally braindead, the season finale was terrible! I am kinda curious about the red sky though, plus the stunt casting, so I may watch it.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Season 2 delaye duntil January.

ABC has announced that V will return to the line-up a little later than expected... on January 4, 2011.

The show will air on Tuesdays at 9PM, following No Ordinary Family.

UPDATE: ABC has released a press release about the return date:

SEASON TWO OF "V" WILL PREMIERE JANUARY 4, 2011, ON ABC

"V," the thrilling drama series about the world's first alien encounter that captivated viewers last season, will make its highly-anticipated season premiere on TUESDAY, JANUARY 4 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on ABC.

Simultaneously appearing over every major city in the world, the Visitors (or V's) arrived offering us the wonders of their technology and promoting peace. While the world quickly embraced the V's as saviors, an FBI Counter Terrorist Agent, and others making up the resistance group called The Fifth Column, quickly discovered that the Visitors are not who they said they were. Will humanity stop being fooled and realize the Visitors true intentions before it becomes too late and they take over Earth?

"V," which received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series, stood as television's No. 1 new drama during the 09-10 TV season in the key Adult 18-49 sales demographic, delivering substantial year-to-year improvement in both of its Tuesday time periods (8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.). Good news at least. Marc Singer is joining the cast for the second season. It may be all we get, but at least we get a mini V reunion. Now all I need is Michael Ironside!

The excitement just keeps on building for ABC's V. Following the awesome news that Jane Badler will be appearing as Anna's evil mother Diana comes word that Jane's original V co-star Marc Singer will also be appearing on the updated version of NBC's '80s cult fave. A show source tells me exclusively that Marc, who played freedom fighter Mike Donovan in the '80s version, will be playing a new character named Lars Tremont. Lars is a member of a super top secret organization comprised of high-ranking military and government leaders from around the globe, who have long suspected that the Visitors — despite what they tell us — are very much not here in peace.

Marc, 62, is also known to sci-fi fans for his role in the 1982 film The Beastmaster and the more recent Beastmaster spin-off series, while soap fans might Remember him from Dallas or The Young & the Restless. Jane Badler will make her debut in the Jan. 4 season premiere, while Marc will pop up in the 10th episode, which is also the second season finale. The two won't share any scenes in the episode...but there's always that possibility in season three. (Fingers crossed.) Faye Grant, make sure your cell phone's charged! You might be next.

I can't put my finger on it...but something has changed about the production value/scripting/direction....of the show. It's different.

Anyone remember the first episode last season? Remember how rushed and thrown together everything was? The pacing of the show was just off right? And it always felt like they were always trying to FIX what was broken with the show, yet they didn't know how.

Well....the season two premiere felt like an entirely different production crew had put it together.

Cast is the same.

But pacing, dialog...camera angles... the damn thing just feels...SLOWER...but more done. It just feels right.

Unfortunately...

1) I don't feel vested in any of the characters because the first season was so below average

2) the backgrounds look pretty damn fake.

3) the cop's son is in no fuckin' way worthy of Supergirl being his love toy. Show deserves cancellation for that alone.

BUT...the pacing of the show is more akin to Fringe now. Not saying it'll work for everyone, but I like it. Hope the show has a chance to shake off the bitter taste of the first season.
