I wonder who the 'al qaeda' of bronies are that are making the rest of them look bad - pandaman?

Give us names bro.
Though I ravage threads to live, I bear no malice toward any living thing. I simply do what I must to survive.
And why must panda survive? For, no matter how many threads I troll ... How many ponies I post ... It is my destiny to one day give back to the GAF Infinitely more than I have ever taken from it.

Hello!

I rarely participate in either thread, but I claim membership in both groups :D

I just wish that people who like to fap to ponies would come out and admit that they like to fap to ponies.

You never see me give Tarazet any grief, because he's open and honest about his preferences.

Is it some kind of attention seeking gig?

You need to broadcast onto the internet that you love watching a show aimed at little girls, it's pathetic.

Actually, more like the need to broadcast onto the internet that they hate other people watching the show.

It's actually given me a lot more confidence in myself and my homosexuality, something I had a huge lack of confidence in for many years. The fact that my avatar is a rainbow themed pony isn't just because I enjoy ponies, it is a symbol of my homosexuality as well.

That being said, fuck you too brah. I know that a lot of gays were self righteous assholes, but I thought that those on GAF were more accepting. If you're part of gaygaf, I'm glad I don't participate.

I do hope you're not and I'm just spitting in to the wind.

*edit*

Never mind, just checked the thread.

I suppose I shouldn't hope for understanding even from gaygaf. Fucking depressing.

This is the Internet Hater mentality in a nutshell.

"OOohjhhHRGH! Who the hell do these people think they are! They're saying, in public, where it can be seen, they LIKE SOMETHING I THINK IS DUMB! How DARE they push it in my face! I'm going to belittle and attack them until I convince them all they're as sad and pathetic as I know they are!"

Actually, there are plenty of GayGAF and related that rarely post in the thread. I would say they all could claim membership. It is a relationship thread after all, not everyone will have a reason to post there very often, if at all.

Okay can someone explain all this "my little pony" stuff? Before I joined NeoGaf earlier this year I never even heard of my little pony except that its a toy line for young girls? Now it seems there is/was a cartoon about it. But what is the big deal? I've seen lots of pony avatars and people calling out people with pony avatars and stuff. Is this like a gaf phenomenon because I've never noticed my little pony having any kind of social relevance or stigma prior to gaf.

The ponies don't know me either. I rarely ever post in their thread.

I'm sorry for the anger, but I like to imagine I have some minor link to these groups. I mention being gay on these boards at least as much as I mention liking ponies, and my avatar represents both.

I thought that being gay and being on gaf would be enough to be part of gaygaf. I didn't know the club was so damned exclusive. =/

Fine. I can take jokes about ponies for thousands of posts and not get angry. But when members of the gay community tell me I'm not one of them, that's what gets under my skin real fucking quick. It happens in real life enough, I don't need this shit on GAF.

I should just act on these boards as I did in real life years ago and not even fucking mention it. Being closeted is the way to be. Then at least I wouldn't be such an easy fucking target to shit I know hurts like this. I'm gonna go drink. =/

Here's a video with the history of the fandom.

http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11872842

Short story is that it was given a chance because this new series was created by Lauren Faust, creator of Powerfpuff Girls, and Fosters Home For Imaginary Friend. She's also the wife of the creator of Dexter's Laboratory. The show has a well rounded cast of characters and enjoyable, if simplistic plots. It has a good visual style, and makes good use of flash animation. People enjoy it for different reason, but one common reason seems to be something that's not cynical like most other animated programs out there. It also doesn't beat you over the head with endless pop-culture references.

Is it for everyone? No.

I find the GRRRRRRRRRRRR MAD PONIES people even weirder than the bronies.

And don't get me wrong, they're really weird. But caring so much about a TV show some dude watches? I don't get it.

I've tried to watch a few episodes, and it's alright I suppose. Not as good as other modern cartoons like Regular Show, of course.

let me correct forester.. using wikipedia!!

She is the storyboard artist of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and has also worked on both of these shows. The character of Frankie in Foster's is based on her. She also is the creator of the preteen girls' web site Milky Way and the Galaxy Girls. She has received four Emmy nominations (two for Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and two for her work on the Powerpuff Girls) and one Annie nomination for her work on Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. Most recently, she developed along with Hasbro their new show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, creating a cult following on the internet known as "Bronies". Faust announced her decision to step down from Executive Producer to Consulting Producer on May 8, 2011 after the first season finale of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic.

And her husband is Craig McCraken, creator of The Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends.

My mistake, I thought she created those two shows.

I don't think I'll ever understand why people care so much what other people choose to do with their time if it doesn't affect them personally. Why must any thread with "my little pony" always have to go past 5 pages with people arguing back and forth?

Religion, Politics & My Little Pony.

Nerds like to feel superior over other nerds.

I see, thanks for the responses. I used to watch Dexter and Fosters when I was younger. I guess I must have stopped watching cartoon network before my little ponies came on because I didn't know it was a cartoon. Its still strange to me that its at the center of so much attention/controversy.

Why do you feel so threatened about being gay, but not as a spokesperson for My Little Pony?

Dude, can't we just watch the damned show and get along? fuck.
This isn't rocket science. If you are a fan, fucking groovy. If you aren't then go be a fan of whatever other nerdbase exists on this forum. That's the point of GAF isn't it?
Same goes for Gay-GAF. Go forth, be gay, have fun. Nothing stopping you from expressing yourself either. There are many thousands of Gaffers who actively post and I guaran-fucking-tee you every single one of them likes something that other Gaffers would find strange. We are all united in our awkward befuddled love for some piece of nerd culture. That is what binds us together.

I don't think anyone is saying that. It is however quite overwhelming to realize that a show from a series that has been shit be actually good.

I have no problem with the show, I am annoyed at how obsessive the fan base can be about it.

Obsessive fans exist in all kinds of fandoms though. You should look up on how estranged Gainax fans are.

Seems like you're the one with the true obsession, considering you try to mention them every chance you get. :>

Ohhh, I see what you're trying to do. You want this thread to get nuked like the ZOE thread.

I've always wondered why people on the Internet don't become obsessed with hard work, personal responsibility and saving money. I wish that would become a meme.

Buy war bonds.

Aw man that was the worst. I got on Gaf late that day to see kojima's hinting/trolling photo and really wanted to talk about a possible ZOE 3ds but the thread was already locked for some completely unrelated crap.

Because thats boring

Kerrby said:

Because it's his own people telling him he doesn't belong with them (first in real life for whatever reason, and then on GAF just because he doesn't post often enough).

PonyGAF doesn't call him a poser brony for not posting very often. We give him unconditional brofists (no homo).

I save money! But you can't really buy anything if you don't work. . . . :(

Kerrby said:

I understand that My Little Pony is a silly show that it is very unusual to watch. I figure if I can take all the obvious insults towards something I know is unusual, I can joke about it. When I have an extremely supportive fanbase that almost always has my back (and in turn, I always try to have theirs) it makes me much more confident. I've accepted that insults will come at me for being who I am and the things I enjoy, but with such a strong backing it is easy to laugh them off.

Being gay? Well... that has a history. A very difficult one where I've not had nearly as much support. When what minimal support I had seems to dissolve over petty shit, it hurts. Really fucking bad.

I'm sorry for overreacting earlier. Thankfully I can play spy on Team Fortress and it's really difficult to stay upset when you play spy on Valve servers in that game. I'll get over it.

ruby_onix: You're awesome. You may not know how much that post helped, but it put a smile on my face when smiling was the furthest thing from my mind.

Thank you so much.

I work hard, have a decent amount of personal responsibility, and have saved up a surviveable amount of money. I don't see what this has to do with anything really.

Well that's GayGAFs problem for being once again, incredibly hypocritical.

Doesn't make wanking over My Little Pony any less sad.
