You start to get used to pony culture. Eventually you think about settling down and raising a family in this world that's become your new home. You aren't getting any younger, and your two foot horse-johnson needs a place to rest at night.
Which pony?

That exact same question, phrased exactly the same, was asked by one of the 'pony haters' in another 'pony hate' thread.

Anyway, it's cool, this is all hypothetical.

mac said:Maybe you can compare it to guys who feel the need to paint sports logos on their body and remind everyone long past they care how well their team is doing. But Christ, they don't do it for a TV series that's going to only last 6 years.
Just a heads up, some of us watch it because we find it genuinely entertaining and uplifting, the thoughts of others be damned. Please don't paint us all with the same brush.mac said:It's not a reaction to the show. It's to the sad, sad, men who watch it and are so impressed with themselves the tell everyone how cool it is to be a man and watch the show. "Look at me, I'm in my late 20's and watch a show created for young girls! Aren't I transgressive and breaking boundaries!"
Great, you like a kids show. I've liked several but I never felt the need to make it part of my identity. It's such a hollow gesture. Like a 40 year old who thinks by extolling Justin Beiber because he's a modern crooner makes him young.

It'd be amazing, wouldn't it? I can only hope it lasts that long.akira28 said:OMG 6 seasons of pony? That would only be so amazing.
catfish said:because some of us are grown men and at face value it's a show patently for small girls. Much like the product.
The growing rise of the manchild beyond the boundaries of some stupid cartoon is also irritating. Also the need to brag about it and put ponies everywhere is beyond stupid. I also suspect most bronies are furries, which I also don't like.
I don't think anyone thinks "Oh man, look at how edgy I am by watching this." If they are, then it's sad.mac said:It's not a reaction to the show. Had me until here. Why can't it just be a mediocre show? People can enjoy it. That doesn't bother me. It's not a great show, though. It's pretty bad. I sat through because it was recommended, but it's not very good. I have no reservations about watching stuff that's meant for little girls or kids in general.Big One said:Can't this show just be a great cartoon?

The "polarizing" effect is due to some (not all, I'd say the minority) of the fans of the show more than the show itself.
It seems to me that people take more notice and generally make a bigger deal out of those using MLP avatars and gifs than of any other gaf subculture.blame space said:well, we're thinking too hard about this because the only exposure to it has been image posts on a forum where no one can make an identity for themselves without becoming a member of a sect or subculture, and all of those posts are borderline creepy or polarizing to people who haven't seen the show.
thus is GAF, i guess? i'm never going to watch the show, but the thing that strikes me about it is the fans' necessity to make their fandom known. which, i admit, might be due to the nature of the forum in the first place.
only the outliers get attention.
