-criticize these monsters and their delinquent show on OT
-one of them alerts the hivemind on community
-after you see a page of normal people discussion you see 3-4 extra pages full of pony avatars
-most, if not all try to drive the argument in a million different directions using strawmen, fanart, and other ways
-thread becomes new MLP OT thread

just ignore them people

I was trying to figure out just what the fuck happened in this thread since I last posted in it and this seems about right. It's just a random bunch of BS thrown about to distract from actually discussing the issue which ironically for the My Little Pony fans, further compounds the opinion that "bronies" are in fact socially immature adults.

Stealth Editor said:
Perhaps its more of a Peter Pan complex than a furry fetish. Just guessing here..

That would make for a more interesting discussion because maybe the "bronies" wouldn't feel so threatened by people questioning their enjoyment of the show if the discussion was framed that way.

Umm wow...I go for work today, and this thread goes down to shit..

Im sorry we couldnt seriously discuss My little Pony show and its effects on todays society properly. As we enter an era where acceptance is the norm and the term discrimination is policed by us with an iron fist people's hidden desires go public. A show like this messes with the generational gap, stretching it even further. Where as a boy played with soldiers and a girl played with mlp in the 80's and 90's now with such problems in our society as accepting homosexuals and the fear it ignites because of the unknown effects of them entering the matrimonial scene on our children. MLP is change on our conservative views. Most people dislike change. As fellow men we worry our brothers will forever stay virgins just because they are brave enough to accept themselves and not play by our rules. Women see this mlp fans as mangirlchildren, a status that automatically makes them freaks.

As time moves the acceptable actions have gotten a boarder list. Men liking a pixar films or other cartoons, an action that in another decade indicated an infantile behavior is not so frown upon now. From reading around different places people like this show for its excellent animation and positive morals it conveys. It certainly its different from the crude and ugly world that we live in. For them the show is for all ages. Children see pretty colors and cute horses but they see superb animation and interesting storylines that appeal to them.

Super Mario Galaxy is a game that looks like its made for toddlers. It has a simple, cutesy story made from a children's storybooks and its visuals look like candy and people love that. Still, some people like me think the gameplay is so phenomenal people see past that and enjoy their time with it. So here we have two different aspects: The "I know this is not for my age but I adore it" and the "I love this. I must share my joy with the world no matter what society's norms are". MLP is controversial. It annoys insecure men and people like to troll with it, that's why it creates such a reaction.

Surprisingly accurate.

okay im setting up a ponycon do we need a bondage cage??
Considering Cheezmo would likely be there, of course we need one. Preferably two.

Insightful post Otrebor. Not as funny as your human ponies you edited out a small while back, but it seems to have a decent amount of truth to it. I wonder if you'll leave it be.

whos the omega pony i bet its coolio.
G-Fex is the king of all ponies.

No, your thread got moved because it was popular AND had too much hate from "VeryManly&EwGirlStuff-GAF" and was sent to a section only few people go to reduce the trolls.

I'd like to think that because of the server switch and other things, the idea of using community for non-gaming communities got forgotten. MLP is quite different from other TV threads in that it's quite active at all times. Only other TV thread that I think would even come close is the Doctor Who thread, but that's far slower during off time.

Threads I think should be in community would be off-season sports threads (obvious reasons), and Politigaf (Same people going in endless circles. Anything important ends up with it's own thread).

I don't think MLP was moved because it was popular and especially not because of the haters. I hope this doesn't seem like sucking up to mods, but GAF has way to competent a mod team to start letting haters dictate their actions. The whole fiasco on Something-Awful did nothing but say to the world that their mod team was incompetent.

And GAFs problem has been the haters, not MLP in general. People who get all bothered by people daring to enjoy something they don't.

I could never compete with you G-Fex. I'm afraid you are stuck with your self proclaimed title for life.

g-fex always reminds me of those guys in court being convicted of murder of their wives and they're like "i didnt meant to kill her she just kept screaming and i tried stopping her by hitting her"

I didn't hit her it's bullshit I did not, I did NOT

Jenga must be enjoying this. This farce, rolling it around in his mouth, savoring all this validation like a fine malt whisky. Undeserved. He loves ponies more than we do.

if OBAMA was a pony which pony would he be. don't say the black one. thats not cool guys.
well, the mayor ofcourse.

she talks a lot but doesn't do anything of consequence in the grand scheme of things.

we should set up camps for fans / the herd to enjoy various activities - they can help to build other facilities for an international solution

to avoid people spoiling it, have something to identify the legit fans but you don't want to make it too obvious - maybe a cool barcode which you can scan

That's quite the interesting viewpoint.

What was your inspiration for this grand idea?

disneyland and a few episodes of the simpsons
Everything Disney has ever thought up has been pure and wholesome, so this idea must be too! =o

And with that I've been convinced to leave the thread. Seriously, holy fuck. XD

See you in the OT thread in 10 days everyone!

*Edit*

Whoops, just realized it was a Terminator reference. My bad. I hear camps and identifying marks and... I wrongly assumed. Carry on. :D

lol, great troll!

It's like when Arnold White says a movie is 4 stars.

And with that last troll-johnson dickshake, I'm done here.

I think all the blood's been wrung from this turnip. I'll be over in the Barack Obama thread, defending the mayor of ponyville.

one problem is having the traditional pony rides, would that be a type of incest for some fans?

i don't know how much you know about ponies, my knowledge is limited

You want to ship all fans of MLP off to labour camps?

Mama Robotnik was right about the meme aspect, the show itself isn't the issue but the surrounding elements (perception of watching it, obsessive fans, pony images etc.). It's not as self contained as other shows and people should know when to reign it in a bit.

There is expectation for people to antagonise and be antagonised - that's the narrative we are used to. People shouldn't judge you for liking something but it happens and developing a thicker skin might be a good idea. And suggesting labour camps for fans isn't appropriate either.

Zomba, glad you managed to sort out your psn problems.

I may or may not have been highlighting how farcical things get.

People have still failed to point out any overuse of .gifs or image macros in the past few months that distracted from or derailed a thread.

IT'S WEIRD

LIKING PONIES IS WEIRD FOR GROWN MEN TO DO

Ponies were heroes of the Revolutionary War. They are plenty manly.

To Napoleon, a pony would have been big enough as a horse as well for him. Napoleon was manly, he conquered a lot of things.

Seems like Sony were either bluffing about banning me or are just very very slow as I still have my PSN account and have had my money back for over a week now.

i don't think it is that big of a deal but it is for some - it's not just limited to the use of images, any comments and references might be enough

also, what constitutes as derailing or distracting will vary (it doesn't have to be a complete meltdown)

zomba - sounds like it's just something they have to say, do you have another account?
edit - i'm sure they won't ban it, would have done it already and you could prob get refund if you did lose out

dr_octagon said:

No other accounts really. I have an NA one and a JP one that I never really used (except to get the occasional free game/dlc). If they do end up banning my account I'll just make another and probably whine a bit about losing out on my PSN+ stuff.

Napoleon didn't fap to his pony though.
