The power of physical release. Mario Kart World already down from 90 Euros to 70-72 Euros in Germany.

One could argue that the game shouldn't have been damn €90 in the first place. But yeah, physical will almost always be better due to quicker sales, ability to sell games and used games.

I've been looking to expand my S2 library aaaaannnd...
60+ Eurodollars for Bayonetta 2 ? 60+ for the Xenoblade games ? full, 60+ Eurodollars price for Mario games ? 67 Eurodollars for a Zelda Musou game ? (AOC), 70 for Zelda BOTW ? LMAO, wtf is this shit ?

Meanwhile, there are some sales on Amazon atm with most Ninty 1st party games being 39.99€ (grabbed MP Jamboree) and they're flying over the (virtual) shelves - don't they fookin' get that ? You can't base your income eternally on the proverbial whales that they'd buy anything at any price...

There's just no way in hell I'll ever spend 60-70 Eurodollars for 7-8 years old games or even new ones for 80 (fuck Donkey Kong Bananza) no matter how good they are, it's a matter of principle.

When you thought you've seen everything from Sony/MS...here comes Nintendo with the most overpriced hardware and software, sorry, but, fuck this company, at this point , their always loyal and hardcore fanboys are the equivalent of Harley Davidson riders - always living in the past, always being happy with inadequate, sub-par hardware, always finding excuses and turning a blind eye towards every criticism of said company.

Here in Mexico, prices are also going down. I realized it yesterday. Same here...

Stop buying Keycards, you'll see how you can change your strategy in favor of the physical format.

Yesterday when I bought the Nintendo Switch 2, it only had Mario Kart, Cyberpunk, Bravely Default, and the Split fiction thing.

I was going to buy Bravely Default, but then I said... Screw it.

I think there are a lot of people out there, too, if it had been a complete physical game... I would have bought it.

My other option was Cyberpunk, but that wasn't the case because I have it on PS4 and am playing it on PS5. Split doesn't interest me. So I opted for Mario Kart.

Please do not support game key cards. The sad thing is that if even if we don't, they will blame that physical media is dying and go complete digital.

People keep saying this but just go and check the upcoming third-party games like Outlaws, Madden NFL 26 and many more, ALL are key cards.

Yeah, there's nothing gamers can do at this point.
The "illusion" of getting to choose is just that - An illusion.

It's a total catch 22. No matter what you do, they will claim digital is the way forward. Sadly, it seems to be over and in the final stages of death.

Physical media was already dead on arrival for Switch 2.

The manufacturing cost of the carts didn't come down much over the years and the Switch 2 games were only going to get bigger. Cyberpunk needed shipped on a 64gb card and CDPR said The Witcher 3 shipping on a 32gb card was already riding a razor thin profit margin.

Game key cards were offered as the concession to publishers unwilling to bear that cartridge cost. Of course they all seized on the idea - even if they didn't really need to (this is proven with the sizes of some games on the eShop).

Something I was considering was doing it like on the PS3, putting in the game and installing it...

I'm thinking about SD cards and putting in the game to install it...

I mean, they cost $10 or less for the 128 GB one...

But I also understand that it would be unviable due to the advancement of technology.

And you can sell this shit after completing. Physical is so much better...
Well , you can sell game key Card too .

Square Enix already change to Code in The Box for FF tactic Remaster because Bravely default game keycard is not selling well . :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I hope nintendo keeps increasing base prices in their video games instead of adding microtransactions, doing 'advanced access', chasing live service or all the other nonsense other AAA games do (I'm aware there are exceptions)

They won't and their games still will have DLC.

The power of physical release…in some places. It's still $109 in Canada (before taxes). Physical and digital always the same new. Zero desire to pay that much for a game physical or digital. Why Europe can drop prices of new games like that I dunno.

Yeah, you "only" lose ability to play games when Nintendo servers shut down (10+ years) or completely offline (for the first time) but you can still buy used and sell it.

Now codes in the box are the worst anti consumer shit I have ever seen.

Just like headphone jack on phone , memory cards and USB port soon to be erased from phones
Physical media will also die sooner than later

LOL? Only flagship phones removed them. Mid and low end phones have audio jacks, sd slots, chargers in the box and EVEN PHONE CASES! They do this because they know consumers want this shit. Cheaper Chinese brands are the best right now. My 2024 phone has all of it + 120hz OLED screen and big ass battery.

Too bad there is basically no competition in console space...

Imagine wanting to pay more for games just because you're upset others get to play it 4 days before you do.

The vast majority of midrange phones sold in the West don't have headphone jacks or sd slots.

That's definitely different in EU territory.

After playing MKWorld for a few weeks I don't think it is worth $80. The Grand Prix needs to have standard 3 lap races on every track, the knockout tour is a lot of fun in game and online.

There is probably more competition. There used to be even more stores, but amazon has wiped out most of them.

The problem is the only option Nintendo offers to developers: 64gb card. Costs developers $15 per card. So, going forward indie games won't use physical. Only games under 64gb in size and AA or AAA priced games ($40-$70) will use actual cards.

So not sure why some games like Bravely Default, which is $40 isn't using an actual card.

Hitman is 61gb and $60....so should have been on an actual card. In fact seems the only game over the 64gb card limit is Split Fiction, so all other games over $40 should have been on an actual card.

Physical release is the best type of release only because of the publishers greedy practices

they effed the online so bad in the last update.

I would love the grand prix's to be those traveling tracks and 3 laps to conclude the match. I'm tired of the narrative that it would be "too long". That's what makes it fun. Especially with 24 players it would be nice to have time to get your bearings. By the time you reach the track it's basically over if you don't pull some good items.

I think they need more than what they do when you get to the Track. It is over far too soon. You get what barely feels like a lap on some of them. I am hoping it is coming in a future update, because I think there would be some work to make some 3 lap races with some of those tracks.

If a retailer wants to lose money selling physical games, more power to them I guess?

($80 USD right now is 68 Euro... but that doesn't include taxes)

like it makes no sense. in the standard offline grand prixs. the only track you get to play 3 laps in is the first lap! the rest are 1 lap, but every map has a 3 lap variant! Let us be able to actually use the new mechanics they gave us. This gameplay loops comepletly goes against them. No time to show off some walls jumps and shortcuts.

This could be like Crash Team Racing if they just adjusted a few things.

Physical is the best. They want you to believe it's dead and gone so you'll force yourself into digital so they can fully control pricing.

You do own something with physical.

IIRC BOTW held the full price far longer, including physical.

Once again, should be very interesting to see not sheer numbers, but sales trajectory for both NSW2 and MKW.

yeah that is because the console is out of stock and can't be bought (at least in the USA, unless you have no life and live constantly online or have bots).
So with less people owning the console and the game bundled in with the console in one version of course there is going to be more copies, after people get bored and try to sell it, or bought it to scalp the system and sell the game outright.

Its basic supply and demand. Its like the NES with super mario bros/duck hunt. The game was everywhere, and it eventually was $5 loose as most people got it with the "Action Set", unless they got they cheaper "Control Deck" which had no games.
