if You playing with lot of people who knows to play, yes.GAF is fucking losing it......Its Mario Kart, where you people expecting hardcore racing game?
I've been wondering the same, but on the topic of the thread I think that the Hideki Konno directed Mario Karts provided a harsher challenge than what we've seen from the last two games by Kosuke Yabuki. Playing MK on my GBA I felt like I had to be completely focused on each second of the race to not lose everything. While 8 was gorgeous and fun, it never provided the same challenge as MK64 either. Yabuki will never agree with that, but don't let him distract you from the fact that in nineteen ninety eight the undertaker threw mankind off hеll in a cell, and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcer's table.Who decided to let all these Reddit people here that make beyond half assed OTs
I'm sure if Nintendo could, they would undo a lot of decisions made during the Gamecube generation. It is like how people get obsessive over Smash Bros..
Did Nintendo even ever release a hardcore game?GAF is fucking losing it......Its Mario Kart, where you people expecting hardcore racing game?
How many here were around at the time to play the original SNES game? That was never "casual"; the learning curve was actually pretty steep and this allowed for a very satisfying skill gap between players. It was probably the first truly competitive multiplayer racer I ever played actually - certainly even more hardcore than nearest equivalent Virtua Racing at the time. The original MK was an enormously popular racer of the 90s.
I'm saying all this because there are quite a few people in the thread who think they know, but they're actually chatting total shite about Mario Kart. Nintendo has significantly dumbed the series down over the years. I remember that the N64 follow-up was criticised in the reviews and by older players in general for being too easy, compared to the original.
Play 200cc reverse Mario kart 8 and tell me its easier than the snes game.
every mario kart is easy if you're looking at just beating cpus, but in time trials & multiplayer the skill ceiling can actually get quite high and competition goes beyond just knowing a shortcut & getting lucky with items. mario kart ds was probably the peak of mechanical skill with snaking & prbs.I will. Out of interest, which Mario Kart release do you consider to be the most refined racer? I've picked up the controller with my kids in the more recent games over the years, but I straight away feel that the gameplay is extremely forgiving and low stakes. The powerups have gotten a bit out of hand, and pure driving skill seems secondary to what item can bring you back into pole position. From what I can tell, knowledge of track shortcuts seems to be more key than a player's ability to bounce skid around the course, which was always intensely crucial in the first game.

There isn't a campaign, just the 10m earlier adopters have quite a few of us that have major issues with Nintendo post Iwata/Miyamoto,What the fuck is happening on the Internet with this switch 2 launch.
It's a Nintendo game.
The company that has perfectly balanced accessibility for children to play games and then has more challenge than the majority of other companies games for the skilled players is being dragged over Mario kart and system specs?
Are people that thick?
I'm trying to understand what is happening with the switch 2 news. It's like there's an active campaign to drag it down![]()
It's always been casual, but Nintendo made it even more casual with the open-world scheme. My little daughter will probably be driving outside of the races.
Discuss deez nuts.
I swear neogaf doesn't even play games or watch any gaming media.Did Nintendo even ever release a hardcore game?
Nintendo's entire business is built around low-entry gaming for casuals. At least ever since Wii.
Don't expect much from single system fanboys who can't play anything not on their beloved system and have zero knowledge of. Not even worth bothering with.I swear neogaf doesn't even play games or watch any gaming media.
But here's the thing: If you play against someone in couch multiplayer, you will most likely run ahead the CPU most of the time. That means you won't in the middle of the chaos, you'll be ahead of the pack. The wide roads don't have that much of a point then.24 items would make small courses a cluster fuck.

Nintendo brings mouse controls with every systemDon't expect much from single system fanboys who can't play anything not on their beloved system and have zero knowledge of. Not even worth bothering with.
Hardcore gamers getting extremely skilled at casual games doesnt make the games less casual.I swear neogaf doesn't even play games or watch any gaming media.
This is what I was going to say...this is Mario Kart horizon in all but nameIsn't this game copying Forza Horizon? I assume the tracks shown here are from the open world part of the game, so there will be point A to B races. The traditional cup mode will have classic tracks.
This is the most "old man yells at cloud" I've seen in a while. The vast majority online agree that the Switch era is the best quality and quantity from Nintendo first party in their history. What you're describing is the GameCube and Wii U eras which were filled to the brim with actual low quality and soulless 1st party garbage, hence why those 2 systems were massive flops and nobody wanted them at the time. There was more than enough garbage that released under Yamauchi/Iwata, definitely way more than under the new leadership, so I would say the quality control is far better than before. Nintendo's modern games review and win more awards than any prior era. At some point, you just have to accept that you are not Nintendo's target audience anymore. It's not that Nintendo's quality went down or the new leadership doesn't care, it's just that you grew up and can't take your nostalgia goggles off. There isn't a campaign, just the 10m earlier adopters have quite a few of us that have major issues with Nintendo post Iwata/Miyamoto,
it has been IMHO low effort, by the numbers generic dialled in, imposter game creation and way below the standards that came before - and although Zelda open world isn't low effort it does feel generic open world problem, and not really Zelda.
The newest stuff is commercially successful, but outside the new Zelda games which are beloved by millions, are any of the other games without their frameworks built by Iwata's Nintendo going to beloved and wanted for re-release/remaster or held ransom behind Nintendo online - like Nintendo's real family silver is/has?
They are living on past creativity IMO, with only really Splatoon coming to mind that is worthy of a shout out.
Forza Tony Hawks MK World for a diehard MK fan like myself was the line in the sand. For one of my gaming friends that has been loyally buying everyone of their consoles since the beginning - but doesn't agree with online passes so doesn't subscribe - his line in the sand might be coming, given many complaints he has about what was revealed, and being irked that there's no way for him as a loyal customer by himself to qualify to buy at launch, and I'm sure the majority of my RL gaming friends are all thinking of skipping this one, like they all skipped the PS5 Pro.
