:lolEekTheKat said:I mean...how often in gaming are you presented with a button to "SMASH FACE"?
That's certainly encouraging to hear. There was an AVI at Xbox.IGN that had the game go B&W when the enemy got dunked into the pirahna infested water. This better not be some bullshit console only censorship being implemented. Man, I wish I never saw that AVI :-\WarPig said:I dunno if you have to reach a certain level of gruesome to trigger that, but you can insta-kill guys in full color with a shot to the back of the head or whatever. It never went B&W while I was playing.
DFS.
Now that's just fucking retarded anyway you slice it. Input from a button is ok for gratuitious violence getting an "M" rating but using the analog stick equals a AO rating? Such bullshit. Well my interest in this game just deminished. Good going Volition/THQ.EekTheKat said:Apparently the project manager said the Sepia thing was a compromise to get them an M rating, whereas the game was originally AO.
Part of the reason why this game was rated AO originally was because of the interactive nature of the killings. Manhunt was pretty much click button, watch person die, but in Punisher you actually get to smash the guy's face in with a flick of the analogue or mouse.
Y2JRULZ is correct. The ESRB rating board required that we make changes to the interrogations in order to obtain an M rating, instead of an AO. In the end, we were just on the edge of an AO rating, even with the changes we made.
Our game was considered more interactive and inventive, and thus more engaging to the player, than Manhunt, where you just pressed a button to perform the kill. So we had to add in the effect, just for the end of the interrogation.
