fortunate for valve they specked steam machine affordably (relatively)
Even if prices increase, it will never be as bad as how these prices are increasing to consumers.
I do wonder how much they have bought for next year., With GTAVI coming out in late next year they will want to have the most consoles available. No doubt Sony will eat some of that cost, but they were profitable with hardware so far (since 2021 for disc PS5) so I don't think they want to do that for long...
Until price increases next year, same story for regular PS5 (and other consoles) and PC GPUs, phones etc.
If someone wanted to upgrade console/PC (outside of just memory upgrade lol) now it's a good time, who knows how fucked up 2026 will be...
Doesn't matter if ps5 / pro does go up it still be way below the entry cost of a mid level pc which is around $2,000 right now. It's super sad for sure.
It's not true at all, this PC is around the power of PS5 Pro:

Sure, you could build it cheaper ~2 months ago but it's still not that expensive (this year).

Here's a PS5 pro for 649 bucks. 200 bucks cheaper than whatever you just posted. Also...i see 1TB of storage. PS5 Pro has 2TB. That isn't counting custom-made stuff like PSSR, etc. It's not true at all, this PC is around the power of PS5 Pro:

You just proved his point.
lolGreat, PS5 Pro (yet) isn't affected by increased RAM prices.
FSR4 is shit ton better than PSSR so you lose this argument, and you can set whatever settings you like (performance or graphics quality) vs. being stuck with whatever developers think is the best. You can increase storage at any point in time. PC offers options that console will never have.
lol

Also, the bolded part...you can increase storage for PS5 as well.
You said it's possible to build a PC like a PS5 Pro and that's just not true. Never was. Everyone knows PC has a lot you can customize. That was never part of the discussion.
It will be effected, but pc will be far worse effected.Great, PS5 Pro (yet) isn't affected by increased RAM prices.
I think I actually bought that in 1995 before I knew better.Crazy times, who knows maybe these guys will make a comeback ...

All this just to say "no, you can't build a PS5 Pro-like PC for the same price as a PS5 Pro" (we didn't even take in consideration the controller which the PS5 pro has and your build didn't have). The bolded part is just you projecting. I never mentioned any of that. You can build PS5 Pro like PC under 1000$ (that includes 2TB storage), not that much changed since mid 2025 outside of RAM prices. In Q4 2024 (when Pro launched) it was possible to build better PC for price like that (new 4xxx cards were still around ~MSRP). There always is some "crisis" in PC space every few months.
And as always, there is some hyperbole created by console fans like you that PC is dead and "the cheapest build is at least 3K" or something. You also probably think that this GLOBAL memory price increase won't affect PS5s and you will still be able to buy PS5 Pro for 650$ one year from now (or even six months)?

With pc you are gonna be hit with a double whammy, with system ram plus GPUs being effected by increases.

Maybe PS5 will be affected...but PCs will be even more for obvious reasons.
Thank you. You would not believe how much some people push back against this simple truth.Even if prices increase, it will never be as bad as how these prices are increasing to consumers.
I think the saving grace is that Valve didn't release a price yet, because whatever price they would have announced probably wouldn't be sustainable this time next year. The way things are looking I'm going to be shocked if it still stays in that $750 range by the time it launches.fortunate for valve they specked steam machine affordably (relatively)

Also, the bolded part...you can increase storage for PS5 as well in like 3 minutes.

Is he still fighting that battle?
God, he's desperate
It was never true, but he has to be trolling at this point after RAM prices just made the whole PC gaming argument just a bad joke
Damn, those are some tight timings.6200 CL28
Same boat. Nabbed a steal of a deal in October. Glad i talked the wife into it lol. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity, i guess.I just bought a new PC back in July/August.
Ohhh booooooooy am I glad I did too.
I paid out the absolute ass for it, but I can't believe my luck in choosing to go ahead and do it when I did.Same boat. Nabbed a steal of a deal in October. Glad i talked the wife into it lol. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity, i guess.
In a way, i hope the silver lining becomes better optimization and a further push towards linux distros.
I wouldn't be surprised in the least if they ever decide for Directx to run only on their servers and only for games until that date, shifting (as Nvidia ceo said) next graphics to run directly by AI.Well for Microsoft ALL this sounds like music because they want us on cloud and gameass.

That ship sailed long before the PCMR extinction level event we're witnessing. How're we feeling about that $299 Gabecube, folks?
Scalability for older gen games is huge, tho!A 1080p ddr4 9060 isn't a mid range pc today.![]()
