The Rayman remake is apparently a Rayman Legends remake

Ubisoft apparently has two Rayman projects in development one is a remake or remaster of an undisclosed Rayman game and the other is a brand new project. Now an apparent Ubisoft insider has stated that the next Rayman game "isn't all that new "and "will disappoint everyone upon its announcement." A user then asks the leaker whether it is a remake of the 2013 game Rayman Legends, to which the leaker replied with the eyes emoji. Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming then weighed in and asked whether they were talking about the new Rayman game or the remake/remaster. The insider then said "I have only heard about one Rayman project which, depending on player feedback/hype, will trigger the development of the second one. But perhaps I don't have all the information." All will hopefully become clear soon, we hope.

That's too bad. I loved Rayman 2 The Great Escape back in the day. Would love to see that one get a fresh coat of paint. It had such uniquely eerie vibe.. never played another game like it (even in the same series)

Meh.. Fantastic game, but it hasn't aged poorly neither in terms of gameplay or visuals. Not sure why they feel it'd need a remake.

One of the best 2D platformers ever made. Although I am in agreement - why does this need a remake? And by remake do we mean 4k/60 upscale or a compete rework of assets (unlikely considering this game didn't burn up the charts to begin with)?

If you guys don't buy this completely pointless remake, no more Rayman for you ever again!

Cancelling 6 games to focus on what's important I see.

… and they somehow have enough time and resources to "responsibly" commit to this? A remake of a game that's still as good as new, and that would make an even more needless remake or remaster than The Last of Us?
A remake of a game that has barely sold 5 million copies among half a dozen platforms in more than 10 years?
A game that was originally sent out to die because GTAV was releasing in the same period?
And this is somehow supposed to… *checks notes*… make a profit?

Ubisoft must want our collective sides to burst from laughing.

"Trust be bro".

Anyway, people in this thread don't seem to understand the difference between "remix" and "remake". Or is it me.. I mean, I'm pretty sure a remake doesn't mean 1:1 with the original and boosted graphics.

This remake "rumor" has been ongoing for about three years, possibly longer.

If it still ends up a remix, that would indeed be stupid, it could easily fit as a contemporary game. I play the game from time to time even to this day, it's one of the greats,

"Unfortunately we can't legitimize a new Rayman game, because we have measured it's not a franchise people will instantly rebuy titles they already have like lemmings. Blame yourself."

Come to think of it, Rayman is dead without Ancel anyway. Probably, that is the greater part of their mentality, to hide behind past work. Once everyone is "reminded" of the IP, deliver the new one on the coattails of its predecessor. Basically, an attempted bait and switch where the bait isn't really bait but hey, they're insecure.

Basically, a remake of Super Mario World coming out before Mario Wonder.

What kind of retardation is this? "Yes, lets remake the most recent game in the franchise"

Can't believe that. I don't even know how you'd do a remake of it? The only thing it could do with is 120fps and 4k support. The Art doesnt need to be changed and shouldn't be changed.

How does this need a remake? The art is incredible and it run silky smooth on a fucking toaster.
I assume this is just a fake 4chan "rumor"/personal guess that is wrong.

In case it would be real, I assume the idea would be to migrate an the most game of the series to a modern current & next gen friendly engine, as a first step (that could be monetized independently) to make later a brand new game in the series using part of this one as base.

Why would they remake Rayman Origins? It's still looks absolutely stunning now as it did at launch. On an OLED it looks even more fantastic.

Ubisoft is probably lost. They are seeing their old catalogues and picking up their best to re-release/remaster as their last resource.

Far Cry 3 got a 60 fps update, Assassin Creed Black Flag is getting a remake and now Rayman Origins. I can see a company losing their touch by a mile.

Most of the large publishers/developers sadly do seem out of touch with reality.

Ubisoft is fucking dumb as dirt. Haven't they vanished into the ether yet? Legends is a crowning achievement for them and for the Rayman IP. Probably the least needed remake in history.

Wow this is dumb. If you want to know why Ubisoft's stock price keeps falling, them porting a game that looks and plays great on all the modern systems is why.

A remake of Rayman 2 and 3 would be what people were looking for.
A remake no, but it's not even available on Switch so could do with a port and a native PS5/Series X version giving high resolutions/assets/framerates.

It's a great game.
yes it is, I own it

A remake and new game? They keep wanting to visit a title from the old ubi trifecta and they keep not doing anything in the end.

Legends is goated but why not remaster Origins? I know you can play the levels in Legends but it's not really the same as the original campaign and is missing a third of them.

This is one of the best 2D platformers I've ever played. I loved it so much that I earned the platinum trophy on PS3, PS4, and PS Vita.
