So this is taking place in the same timeline?
It's pretty cool to see Buzz back but the movie really doesn't look good at all. The new kid isn't doing anything for me and the acting looks really bad. Wikipedia page says Buzz and Kevin are making cameo appearances and that's probably the only clips I'd watch.

Unpopular take but I think Home Alone 3 is pretty decent, it's just missing Kevin. The acting and the traps were all solid, and I liked the plot of them chasing the toy car with the chip. The new kid isn't even that bad either in that one.

Honestly I didn't think it seemed that bad, not gonna watch it but it seemed fine. Maybe that's just cause I've never watched the original though.

I don't get the hate for 3rd movie either. I'd love to see a remake that really leans into how truly fucked up these movies are; just really take that concept far. Like the kid gets into his brothers shrooms and cocaine stash instead of letting his tarantula loose.. gets totally blasted, tortures and murders the burglars that sort of thing.

Yeah I don't remember much of the 4th film but didn't they try keeping Kevin McAllister whilst totally changing his family and everything. It was bizarre to watch.

I watch the first two movies every year. The 2nd one is even better trap wise I think. They are such great movies.

They should have put that budget into another film idea:
Kevin (macaulay culkin) is now a 40 year old man with a son, and he accidently makes the same mistake his parents made - leaves his son at home while going on vacation. The son is also kind of mischievous and ends up facing off with burglars. Meanwhile, grown up Kevin is faced with his own funny problems has to go on his own little adventure to get back to his son, like his wallet/id/credit cards get stolen so he has to hitchhike and stuff. The film could take place in the span of like 3 days. But yeah, eventually he makes it back home and son destroys those burglars with traps.

My wife had a great idea to add to this.. fucked up on a week long mushroom trip, the new "Kevin" thinks his house is being broken into by demons after his soul.. he captures them, tortures them, eventually killing them. After he comes to, he realizes it was just his neighbors checking in on him as his parents had called them..
At some point during all of this as a gag the original burglars show up to rob the house, and see this kid torturing his neighbors and nope out.
Fuck I should write movies MAN.
