They sticky basketball threads during the season..but baseball never gets stickied. And it's the fuckin playoffs.

i think it's pretty obvious that it's going to be a boston vs st louis world series. and what could be better? the two best places for baseball where the fans are #1.

Everett to Kissimmee: In an effort to tune up for the latter rounds of the playoffs, Adam Everett will report to Kissimmee, Fla., on Monday to spend the week in Instructional League.

The plan is for Everett to be ready for the National League Championship Series, should the Astros get that far. Everett will not be on the initial postseason roster, which has to be set by Wednesday at 10 a.m. CT.

Everett was activated from the disabled list last Friday after being shelved nearly two months with a broken wrist. He was not cleared to do anything but pinch-run and play as a late-game defensive replacement.

In Instructional League, Everett plans to receive many at-bats while taking grounders at shortstop.

"He'll try to get himself game-ready, like you would with any long-term injury," general manager Gerry Hunsicker said. "So he can be 100 percent for the second round."

Everett was able to keep himself in shape during his hiatus on the disabled list, so the only concern is building strength in his wrist.

"Everything else is ready to go," he said. "My arm feels good."

1st round predictions:

Minnesota Twins vs. New York Yankees - Yanks in 3, overmatch the Twins. I just can't imagine the Twins taking the Yankees down 3 times. I'll be cheering for them to though.

Anaheim Angels vs. Boston Red Sox - Boston in 5. These two teams both are very complete teams. I think think the big game performance of Schilling gives Boston the slight edge though. There is a very big chance of an upset though if you could call the Angels winning an upset. Still, I say Boston just edges them

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. St. Louis Cardinals - St. Louis I think will be too much for the Dodgers. Then again you look at teams who rolled through the season after pulling away and all previous success doesnt add up to a thing. We've seen last year the Giants get beat by the Florida Marlins, year before Yankees by the Angels. I just don't think the Dodgers are the equal to those Marlins or Angels. So with that said, Cards in 4. I'll spot LA one comeback win and Gagne save.

Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves - I expect this to be the toughest, scrappiest played ball in the playoffs. I give Astros the edge though with their starting pitching and an offense that will be tough for the Braves starters to contain. Still, imo, a no doubt 5 game series, with Astros edging out the Braves.

Twins/Yankees :: NYY in 4. Johan Santana wins game 1, comes back on short rest for game 4 and does worse than usual.

Red Sox/Angels :: BOS in 5. A very close matchup...Schilling/Pedro do their thing. Angels lose by 1 run in game 5.

Dodgers/Cardinals :: STL in 4. Dodgers are the weakest team in the playoffs...Their starting pitching is gonna kill them. Lots of high scoring affairs.

Astros/Braves :: HOU in 4. Astros win 2 starts by Clemens and one by Oswalt. Backe has a good outing, but the offense doesn't come up with enough runs. Braves pitching won't be enough. Astros' momentum carries them through this series.

You never predict anything right....so keep it up :)

my early gut feeling predictions:

Dodgers over Cards in 5 (these are 5 game series', right?)
Houston over Atlanta in 3

Yankees over Twins in 4
Angels over BoSox in 5 (i hate to say it, cause like everyone else, i'd LOVE another Yanks/Sox series, but i just think the Angels are too hot right now. Vlad is playing better than ANYONE in baseball, even Barroids, and with K-Rod/Percival, they can effectively make it a 6-7 inning game)

anyway, LCS-
Dodgers over Houston in 6
Angels over Yankees in 7

World Series-The FREEWAY Series
Angels over Dodgers in 6

Go Angels and go Twins! I cant stand Yankees or Redsox fans. They act like they are the only two teams that exist.

In the NL Go Dodgers I hate the Cards and their scumbag coach. Either the Stro's or the Braves would be fine with me.

Naturally I pick the Braves to beat the Astros. :p I don't think Clemens is as unbeatable as everyone is saying he is. He can definitely get rocked and I think the Braves can do it at least once out of his two possible starts.

Houston is the only team this year to enter the playoffs with a streak of more than 1 win. [7]

I had the texans logo for my avatar and didn't change it because the Astros were winning with it. :p Well that was for the regular season so I might as well change it now.

We finished with the same record as the Angels and the Twins. The Cards would've won ANY division in baseball. Not to mention the AL WC Champion Red Sox who won more games than anybody besides New York and St. Louis.

My Power Rankings

1. Yankees
2. Red Sox
3. Angels
4. St. Louis
5. Atlanta
6. Houston
7. Twins
8. Dodgers

I still think the Sox are built to beat the Yankees in the post season but it's hard to imagine the Yankees losing a single game. They look flippin focused right now. St. Louis looks deadly but the Angels, Sox and Yankees have all been there and know what it takes to win. Atlanta just doesn't have the pitching to compete.. but they know how to win and should give the 'Stros a run for their money. Atlanta will benefit from the home field and may even edge out a series victory. The Dodgers are a the real wild cards here... they may end up pulling a Marlins and surprising everyone this postseason but I just think they're too weak all over the place. Their only dominating player is Gagne and he may not get a sinlge inning in. I think Beltre will choke during the playoffs and without him they have no chance to keep up the the offensive machine of the Cardinals.

St. Louis and the Sox or Yankees... I have no clue who's going to come out the AL right now. But who ever does will beat up on the Cardinals and urinate all over them. It'll be an ugly World Series.

this is true. even if it sounds sad, that choke in games 6/7 was one of the high points of my life. me and all my friends are all HUGE anti-cub fans, and watching that with them was simply magical.
don't want to sound purely like a cub hating jerk, but it was just awesome. it would have been like watching the Boone HR last year surrounded by huge yanks fans. it really was beautiful. we called so many people that night....man, great times

Glad my team isn't facing Santana twice in a 5 game series.

oh, well i do hate the cubs. and i'm a genuine asshole. but i am a sox fan first.

white sox in the play-offs = i could give a shit what th cubs do. but since we lost our best two hitters and folded early, all my attention turned to those north side choke artists =)
