Pettite had to have surgery on his elbow and Miller injured his rotater cuff. Pettite is now fine and sitting in the astros dugout, he just can't throw yet.

Astros manager Phil Garner said Pete Munro would start Game 2.

In giving the ball to his third and fourth starters for the opening games of the NLCS, Garner is giving his top two pitchers a chance to pitch on regular season when the series returns to Houston on Saturday.

Roger Clemens will start Game 3 Saturday at Minute Maid Park, and Roy Oswalt will start Game 4.

Clemens and Oswalt had both struggled while pitching on short rest in
their most recent turns.

Both finished just five innings. Oswalt allowed two runs in five innings in Game 5 of the National League Division Series Monday in Atlanta. He turned a 4-2 lead over to the bullpen in a game the Astros eventually won 12-3.

Timlin is their setup guy out of the bullpen, not a starter. Im pretty sure its Wakefield as the no. 4 guy along with Shill, Pedro and Arroyo. Lowe was a starter, but got bumped because he played so shitty this year. Redsox management and fans should be thankful both Lowe and Garciaparra turned down their extensions when they did at the beginning of the season, otherwise they'd be stuck with two somewhat mediocre players making huge $$$ for the next 5 years.
