Drek said:Are you high? Theo put together an at least comprable, if not better, team on paper for this season, then they went out and did better than the Yanks in every statistical catagory except wins. He did all that with about an $70M gap between the two team's salaries, thats over half the Sox' payroll.
Better doesn't describe it.
Cashman could actually be good if he got out of NY though, I'm sure Steinbrenner handcuffs him from making any Ortiz-type moves, betting on a player to break out when Steinass would rather just drop three to four times the money and get an all-star who's best days are long behind him.
calder said:Aaaaah, that was a great evening of televised sports alright.
As a true bonus for me, we get a potential outbreak of Mad George disease the likes of which the media has never seen. God I love it when he just snaps, and this might be finally enough for him to really do something crazy.

This team is nothing like the late '90s dynasty squad. Please bring back the days of great pitching and manufacturing runs.
Here, I'll do it for him.Miguel said:Ned: Joe will be around in a few minutes. He's typing up his "State of the Yankees" speech.

Steinbitch ruined the game by overpaying for talent, driving up the cost of mediocre players.
2004 ALDS Yanks vs Twins - $154 million payroll vs $58 million payroll, and the Twins are expected to compete against this?
Lineup is stacked with current all-stars or former all-stars, while most teams may have 1-2 all-star caliber players and an "ace" pitcher (with "ace" being rather subjective).
Used to monopolize all the pitching.
Little to nothing from farm system; talent bought from other teams (again, by simply paying beyond what most other teams could afford).
Steinbrenner also pretty much started building these insanely stacked dynasty teams after, quite frankly, one of the few likable Yankees of the past 20ish years, Don Mattingly, was done for.
I really don't understand the Yankee hate and I've been a fan of them since the mid 70's. Someone should explain this.
No need to now.Eminem said:And also, who else has added Kurowhatever to their ignore list? I did it over a page ago. Very liberating.

And once again, another American legend falls.
-jinx- said:As a lifelong Yankee hater...it was a beautiful thing to watch.
As a baseball fan, though, I applaud both teams for an AMAZINGLY entertaining series. The only regret I have is that this series has overshadowed another amazing series in the NLCS. Hopefully tomorrow's Game 7 will be every bit as entertaining as tonight's.
