The Rock's one of those special people where it doesn't matter if they are face or heel. I miss those days. I was cracking up at all the little kids in the seats booing, they know nothing. And heres to hoping the PG rating is slowly dying. I was wondering if he was going to be able to say all those things, and luckily only one thing was bleeped.
Maybe you could deal with The Rock as a face, but I dreaded hearing his music hit. No matter what the situation was, when he appeared The Rock would take out as many opponents as necessary. 2, 3, 10 wrestlers at a time, The Rock would beat them all. He still had the charisma, no doubt, but any intensity left the room when Dwayne entered the ring, as it was a given that The Rock could not lose unless something completely absurd happened.

I'm not sure how his matches were when he was a heel, but I prefer faces that can actually lose. Perhaps that is why I liked Foley so much, even when he won a match he typically didn't make it seem like a given.

*edit*

Damn, Stone Cold totally disproves my argument about not liking wrestlers when they can beat 10 opponents at a time without blinking. I was never a huge fan of his, but to this day when I hear glass breaking I think of him, and for some reason I never disliked him as much as The Rock. Perhaps it was because I at least experienced him as a heel before the switchover to permanent godlike face, I do remember his big revenge match against rikishi being boring as hell.

*edit 2*

Hmm... I liked invincible Undertaker too. I wonder what it was about the Rock that irked me so.

i came buckets

The Rock is the GOAT. whenever his music hit i was absolutely glued to the screen for the duration of his appearance. He really shows how fucking far the WWE has fallen off.

I couldnt laugh hard enough at the little kids booing The Rock. the little shits just dont know what they missed. it was too awesome for them to comprehend.

Wow. I haven't watched wrestling since he left. Mostly because i was what, 19 or 20? But ya, imma check this shit out. The Rock will make me tune in.

Rock is definitely more charismatic than ANYBODY on the WWE roster.

That said, it kind of sucks that he's basically given free reign to say whatever the hell he wants, PG or not, while everybody else is restricted to mickey mouse bullshit because Vince wants to appeal to kids 11 months out of the year.

OMFG! Will be watching WWE for first time in a LONG time.

Yup, same here.

It's been a long long time since I've watched wrestling. But The Rock would bring me back.

That promo was amazing.

Havent been watching WWE for a while, have they changed their stance on language and stuff or something? Saw a bunch of mentions of PG in the wrestling thread as well.

Yeah, tons of stuff. No chair shots to the head, no blood, every main storyline involves Cener, etc

Haha what? I take it bra and panties matches are out as well then. Crazy.

Well that explains why when I saw a broadcast of Raw when I was home for Christmas, it was totally lifeless and dead.

If you guys haven't seen WWE programming in a couple years, everyone is basically gone. It's all new people you probably won't recogize.

Is he really, truly back?

If he's back, so am I.

The main reason for him been back is the Wrestlemania guest host thing, but he also started calling out Miz and Cena, which means possible storylines with them could brew too.

I think he could be part back time before Mania (he is filming something currently), and then have a few months fulltime afterwards as I dont think there is anything new to film then (although promoting currently filmed stuff could take chunks of time away)

A friend and I would argue about Stone Cold vs. the Rock all the time. I was a Stone Cold man. Fucker was a Rock bandwagoner. We were like ten years old.

Good times. I was right though.

i hope we see fruity pebbles on the receiving end of the most electrifying move in sports entertainment :D

Tonight was amazing. Simply perfect. He walked in liked he owned and he did.

I just wonder how "back" is back.

And Rock is so far above Stone Cold that there aren't enough > to show you. And I love Austin.

Nah, Stone Cold was better. :D

Better in the ring, more great matches, more memorable moments, and promos that could range from funny, to menacing.

Rock is a really charismatic guy. He can capture a crowd like no other.

But he's no Austin 3:16.

People debating Stone Cold v. Rock are the same people that thought Goldberg was the shit too.

The Rock is just better, dammit. Austin was awesome, but the Rock is his own tier entirely.

True about great heels making wrestling great.

HBK was always best as a heel (see the original - and GREATEST - DX).

Austin was best from 1997-1998, when he was basically just a heel that people started to cheer for.

Rocky was a really good heel, but I think he was a more natural face.

Even lately, with admittedly less charasmatic stars, the heels are the characters people respond to, like Edge, Orton, Miz, etc.

Unfortunately, they eventually get so much fan support that they're turned face...and the WWE, as per their new mickey mouse bullshit, never allows face characters to do anything edgey, mean, or aggressive.

They're either completely stupid or just willfully ignorant of why these edgey heels get fan support in the first place.

No, a lot of us Stone Cold supporters don't like Goldberg either, because a) he barely has a character, b) he came off as a bit of poor-man's ripoff, and c) we didn't like WCW.

I already explained why a lot of people liked Stone Cold better. Look up. But in a more general sense, some people just prefer the anti-authority rebel persona to the larger-than-life narcissist with catchphrases.

I disagree, I think the Rock is the superior of the two but I also think that Jericho is better than both of them.

...But which is the better move: The Stone Cold Stunner or The People's Elbow?
The stunner had character. It was also quick and efficient. A working man's finisher.

The people's elbow was always overblown and half the time he never had the time to drop it anyways.

Man, I marked out so hard today as if i was little kid again, genuine happiness cause of this guy's appearance lol. The other thread was ridiculous when he showed up.
