The Rogue of Prince of Persia coming to Game Pass and other platforms today

New patch appears to have some new medallions. Already got one I haven't seen before although possible RNG never dropped it for me. The one I got gives +5% increase damage for every medallion equipped. I think 9 is max, so +45% potentially. And since it doesn't specify, I'm assuming all damage.
Also, seems to have more hidden small health items in the map.

So I finally beat the game will spoiler tags just in case

The ending is pretty anticlimactic. I figured there would be a new boss or stage but the run is literally the same thing as every other run, just that when you win, you get a cut scene. Slight damper on a rally good game.

Not sure if I will continue. I'm not tired of the gameplay but feel like I've accomplished all that I need to. The platinum seems to annoying, with beating each boss without taking damage and having to finish their book.

yea, I think I'm on that final run too. I was rushing to get it done before Silksong because I know that will be taking a lot of time soon

Well boys, that was fast...

Yeah, as nice as the game might be, 30€ seems steep right now for the amount of content it offers.

This will be down to 15€ in a couple of months and - maybe - with some future DLC also included.

I mean I played on PS plus and it took 12 hours. That's a deal and a half IMO.

I gifted it to a buddy who loves dead cells. So they got $30 from me.

I think the game is a great rogue lite for people who don't like the genre in general. It's rogue lite lite.

Didn't get to play for a couple days. Came back and I'm on a much older save for some reason. Lost progress for sure.

I'll just come back to this in a couple weeks or something. This genre and this dev will be doing steady updates I'm sure.

Didn't even realize it was that much. Was "free" on ps+ extra for me. Think it's also on game pass. 30 might be a little step for the content, but if you don't get it for "free" in those spots, def wishlist it, as it really is a great game overall, even with the flaws.

All done, got the true ending and credits rolled. I think the only thing that wasn't unlocked was a lot of costumes.
I might revisit if/when they add content.

I have made it to the final boss completed the mind map. But I should beat the last boss tomorrow. Good weapons would help.

For most of the game, I didn't realize before I started I could map out my getting the extra health, medallion slots and treasure chests.
It definitely helps in getting more medallions for more chances at making a build. Also, I find it better to try to get the weapon upgrade smith later since you will likely have higher tier weapons and uprading the weapons have more impact (if you have the gold for it).

Well I couldn't stay away. Way too fun.

Got an ridiculously OP synergy.

Poison claw weapons
Special attack adds flaming daggers
Special attack fully refills energy meter

I got lucky getting that too. Add in Dash triggers the breath and spreads Resin and while in the breath you trigger explosions. It's crazy OP

Edit: I think the circling orbs is probaby the best if you can get that combo since you get both long range and short range damage

Beat the boss. Loved this game. Didnt overstay its welcome. 9/10.

Will be going back off and on to max out unlocks. Really enjoyed this.

Seems like there's still a lot to do.

I think my favorite thing is the races to get the hostage. Truly makes the flawless movement shine. Would love some races or time trial DLC

It just keeps going. More stages.

I'd easily rank this among the absolute top of 2D combat and 2D platforming. Its that good. I no longer think $30 is really too much, but $25 would've been better probably. It is definitely my 2nd favorite roguelike behind only Hades.

The builds really start getting fun when you start paying attention to all the criteria for triggering critical hits and everything the weapons and items do.

Once you truly get used to maximizing Vayru's Breath its just brilliant. You're constantly getting dopamine hits on almost every pole or wall jump by timing the button presses correctly and it just powers you up, speeds you up and gives you the cool flip animations.

I've completed everything but the costumes for challenge 10, 20, 30, 40 and the 20 min one. Got all medallions and weapons. Raising score to a 9.5. If it had a great story it would be a 10. Story isn't even bad King of Persia title was sweet but not at the level of Hades obviously. Gameplay, builds, art, music is 10/10.

Got another insane build:
Plague Breaker (every hit is crit x2 corrupt medallions)
Weapon damage +30% (both medallions)
Dash activates Varyu's Breath
Varyu's breath active doubles damage (corrupt)
Killing enemies +3 health / max health -50 (corrupt)
Each medallion +5% damage (+30%)

Just a massacre. Weapon damage is +60% and every hit is a crit and kills heal. And breath is always active so all damage also doubled. Bosses died in literally seconds.

I'm at 18 now. Got 3 points for beating challenge level 10.
Yea, I heard that you can get more points by doing them.
It's actually an easy game once you've beaten it a few times. I might do the challenge for a bit of a challenge...lol

Edit: The chance of medalion or weapons breaking on a run sounds scary though

Cool easter egg. If you unlock the Sam Fisher outfit and when you are at the costume vendor. When you select the costume, you can hit RB to put the goggles on and it gives the whole game a green tint, night vision style look.

Ass Creed outfit also has it to where you can wear the hood on or off.

Has anyone gotten this game to launch on PC Gamepass? It doesn't do anything on my computer. The Ubisoft app launches, I'm logged in, the app even says it's running, but Nothing is happening. No splash screen, No loading screen, no nothing.
I have other Ubisoft games from Gamepass that start no issue. But Prince of Persia, nope.

Edit-It seems the issue is my Ubisoft account. The one signed in with PC Gamepass is different than the Ubi account I have with Steam.
Yikes. I need to somehow combine these accounts into one. :( Any chance Ubisoft will let me do that?

Spent quite some time with it today. Really well made. The last roguelike I played was Have a Nice Death and PoP is clearly a better game thanks to combat, platforming and progression.
Curious, did you like anything about "have a nice death"? I ask cause that's been sitting in my back log for over a year and a half now and was thinking about starting it.

Got the final boss to half health in his final form on challenge 40 and wiped. I'm pooped. This is brutal white knuckle action. You dont get any potion refills or any water on 40 so its just devastating if you get hit at all. Basically have to be perfect the whole run.

I've beaten it on 20 twice now, but got owned trying to go up from there. I'm probably not playing careful enough.
40 will probably require the "perfect" combo of weapon and medalion synergy for me. Playing some Shinobi for now, but might give the 30 run a try later. Got to get this done before Silksong...lol and after that NG4.
So many games all coming at once.

Anyone figure out how to get the last Book of Heads challenge on Berude? The rock stun. I can't even find a video of it. I'm almost 100% done with the rest of it.

I've been trying the opposite approach. Using the weapon durability curse and medallion break curse. So just trying to run through it considering weapons and medallions largely irrelevant. Can end up skipping tons of enemies too if you mostly don't care about the upgrades. Hasn't worked yet but that was my first plan.

Purple currency are irrelevant once you have nothing to spend it on if you don't have new costumes unlocked to pursue.
The only reason I try to kill everything is for the gold drops that can be important for weapon, health and medallions especially since you some level you don't get health fountains.

The damn swarms are a real annoyance though especially since you can get overwhelmed so easily especially with enemies with shields.

I'll get back to it later to chase lvl 30. Makes me laugh now when I realize how easy the base game is although the inner rampant boss still gives me a little trouble mostly in getting hits jumping up on the next phases.

Let me know when its on my switch and switch2, otherwise, no dice.

Also why hasn't there been a sands of time trilogy with 2008 pop add on yet. These companies are sitting on cash.

It is totally fine. It's obviously influenced by guys like Tim Burton and Terry Pratchett - spooky becomes deadpan quirky and game finds its it humour poking fun at stuff like corporate bureaucracy. It is never outright funny but I appreciated the attempt. The handdrawn art style is gorgeous, with a lot of personality in the enemy designs and backgrounds, but can become a bit samey as you progress. Gameplay and fighting itself is relatively well made and smooth and quite a lot of customisation options when it comes to weapons etc. Boss fights I found a bit harder than Prince of Persia: Rogue. Eventually I lost interest but it is probably a ME problem as I never really got invested in its characters or story, something that really worked for me in Hades.

What I probably want to say is that it is just another well-made roguelike but not an exceptional one.

Challenge 40 completed. Pretty close to 100%.

Book of Heads completed
All costumes collected

Achievements left:
  • Kill Berude without getting hit
  • Kill Baatar without getting hit
  • Kill Kaali without getting hit
  • Kill Altan without getting hit
  • Kill Nogai without getting hit
  • Kill Nogai the Broken without getting hit

52 hours. I think I might call it. I'm at 100% except 4 no hit boss achievements. I can do it, just annoyed with the run backs.

I hope they add some kind of boss rush or something because I'd probably get it pretty quick without having to replay the level to get to them. Anyway, truly awesome game.

I may get around to doing the challenge 40, but that'll be it for me unless something gets added via DLC.
I have too many other games/movies/TV shows to catch up on to dedicate to a no hit boss run. Although, I think only 1-2 bosses will really be a challenge to get a no hit on.

Its not that crazy honestly when you get the right combination of curses together. I just wanted an excuse to keep playing. All the way up to the end I was finding new ways to use the weapons and sub weapons. The combat and platforming are just so satisfying.
