Just got back from seeing the Roots, with two rather...iffy openers (at best). After some genericky guy with kickboxing gloves (which was the only thing interesting about him) and another group that didn't have the crowd's attention at all...

The Roots came.

Seeing as how I've only heard one of their songs previously, I've no knowledge of their playlist or who each member is (other than ?uestlove, I know who he is)...But yeah, they fuckin' rocked. Best part of the night, other than the amazing solos (of which the bass was the best), was the little covers medley they did.

Iron Man
Crazy in Love
Big Pimpin'
This Is How We Do It

...they did some others, but I don't remember 'em. Just a little bit of each song...but JESUS. When they broke out Iron Man I was shocked and awed.

Great show, great music, and props to that girl right next to me that did dances I've never seen outside of the Discovery Channel.

Remember when you made the thread asking if you should go.. and all the responses were the equivalent of 'wtf, yes'. Now you understand!

I saw them at Cyberfest. I wasn't too into it... It's not the proper place for a band to play, IMO. I listened a bit but there was too much dead time in between songs so I left and to my surprised stumbled into Diesel Boy's set.

I wouldn't mind seeing them at a more appropriate event.
