The Shield Season 4

Anyone else disappointed? I was really bummed they didn't recap the last season at all, but then I guess its almost irrelevant since all this shit happened in the storyline between seasons that we didn't even see. Kinda weak.

So Lem and Shane are off the show then? Their cameos seemed like they were thrown in there just to please fans who spent most of the show scratching their heads like I did, wondering what the hell was going on. Not even a mention of the money train, the burnt money, the scattered strike team, why Claudette isn't Captain, etc.

I really hope they didn't blow their load on Glenn Close. Hopefully they still have some budget left for a worthy successor to season 3 because until today, the show has been stellar.

Lem and Shane are not going anywhere. This is all just fallout from last season. Claudette isn't captain because of the DA case she chose to pursue at the end of last season. That was made pretty clear in both last year's finale and this season's premiere.

Ok I remember Claudette's deal now. I still think Shane and Lem are gone though. They're each working in different areas now. I think its over, man.

Yea. I think Shayns gonna just be a rival to Makey now. I think this is the season the shows gonna take a dump. Jump the shark time has come. Oh well. Fun while it lasted.

Not many replies here. Guess GAF aren't Shield fans.

Anyway, The first episodes usually tend to be dull, except for the pilot. I think they wanted to show how each character's personality has changed since the events from S3. I'm already hating Shane again. I can't believe he shot that guy who had two kids. I'm glad Vic and Ronnie are working together. Gives Ronnie a little more air time.

Gives Ronnie a little more air time.

Which is a bad thing IMO. He's the weakest of the four, by far.

Glenn Close is boring....I never saw what the big deal was about her skills as an actress in the first place.

Needless to say, that opening episode was blander than bland. They should have had Vic and Aceveda actually come to blows, that would have had at least something interesting going on.

I'm liking it so far. The new captain adds a new dynamic to it. I get the feeling shes going to let Vic do what he needs but say to do it the right way then give a sly grin. She knows Vic and knws how he works and also how EFFECTIVE he is.

Shane has gone over the edge as far ab being corrpupt. I really have a feeling it'll all come to a head and Vic will have to take him down before he becomes more of a threat to than anything.

Remember kids, Vic will be heading up this new inner city force... I wouldn't be surprised t see Lem back in the mix by the half way point. One thing I am kind of disappointed in is they didn't touch on Tavon AT ALL.

I still love this show and make it a point to watch it.... I'm sure they won't disaapoint me.

BTW, anyone see the proeview for their new show "Over There"? Anyone feel it's a little too close to home still?

Guess GAF aren't Shield fans.

I remember a ton of people on here talking about Season 3 when that was new. And not long ago I found out that the S3 DVD was out by coming here. Where the hell is everyone?

I see they're setting up that big black guy to be this season's recurring villian. He doesn't strike me as particularly interesting. Not like Armadio or Marcos. Hopefully they have some interesting angles for him, cuz right now he does not look like the type of guy to fill the shoes of the previous villians.

I don't know. I just watched Season 3 on DVD (trying to get girlfriend caught up, no FX at her house) and the opener was pretty good. This has been the weakest opener, hands down. I think some changes must have gone down at the Shield. I will make sure to watch the credits next week to see if any big names have changed. It feels like something is different. Just look at the S3 DVD boxart for christ sake. Its no longer The Shield, but now its "The Plastic Vic Mackey Show". Each DVD has a shot of Vic on it. What's up with that? The other two seasons had the entire cast on there and they looked great. Season 2 especially. So now we've got Vic Mackey looking all "Die Hard" and they blew a ton of cash to get Glenn Close when honestly, I don't think they needed her. Fucking Captain Janeway could've played the part just as well, I'll bet. I guess the season is only starting and that last comment is premature, but really, the writing and creativity of the show is always what drove it.

I guess time will tell with this season. Hard to stay as excited though when the first episode was such a stinker.

i loved the first episode. Not the biggest fan of Glenn Close's character, but still enjoyed it regardless. I actually like the fact that they just didnt' pick up right where S3 left off, you can tell a LOT of shit went down in between S3's end and the S4 premiere. And of course they aren't gonna tie up EVERY loose end in the first episode, why would you even expect that? They still got a dozen more episodes to do that. You can tell Shane is really gonna be a badass now too. He's like Mackey from SEason 1. Can't wait to see Vic take him on.

It doesn't matter, though. Shane knows Vic's little secret. Vic will never take Shane down, for fear of it coming to light that he killed his own partner in cold blood.

It's the first fricken' show of the new season. Let's at least save the 'jump the shark' dramatics for a few episodes in. I like that the show's changing - it would stagnate if they just kept everyone in their normal places. There's tension and rilvary amongst people that were once friends, Vic's no longer as powerful as before. It should make for some interesting TV.

exactly. It would have REALLY jumped the shark if it was just another season of "Vic and the Strike Team get themselves into another mess and have to clean it up by the end of the season"

As long as this season still has police brutality, corruption, bare asses and side titties then it will be as good as the previous ones.

I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out that Glenn Close's character is as corrupt or even more dirty than Mackey himself.

Yep, three seasons of that was enough, let's shake the foundations some...

I think, come the end of the season, Vic and Shane will have already mended their differences and concocted another scheme.

Or Vic kills him. It's not exactly unheard of from him.

Weird...

I was going to come here to get impressions on the first season of The Shield, seeing as I just bought it at HMV for 30 bucks.

Watched the first episode...pretty cool stuff! I take it Vic knew that Terry guy was going against him...and that's why he shot him?

Brutal...

I suggest you dont enter any sheild threads unless you wanna get it spoiled.

I'll take that chance...

I'm not reading them, just looking for references to the quality of the first season.

how is it?
Good blind buy?

Oce, DEFINITELY. That first season is pretty damn good. Watch the whole thing and I garauntee you will be looking longingly at the season 2 box next time you are in that store. For a blind buy, you did really good.

season 1-2 are awsome dont know much about the rest.

The first 3 seasons all have several very, very strong episodes. Some of the shows were so good, I remember I watched the encore showing right after.

Haha, Shane is gonna get owned next ep.

PS: I don't think Tavon's coming back cos he's not in the character profiles on the website...

I predicted Acevada would get involved with the seizures. No doubt he wants to keep up what's going on with the barn. Also, I loved how 4x4 ened with Vic looking at all the great cops who works hard in the barn after saying that Shane is a good cop. I don't know what he's setting himself up with here. Both Shane and Vic are playing each other, but seems like Vic will outplay Shane which leads him to get his ass kicked, and it's about time too, that racist melon farmer. Army won't leave the show anytime soon. He's signed up for 12 episodes. Can't wait for tommorrow's episode.

if this season doesn't win best drama at the Golden Globes, then I've lost all faith in award shows:

-In this season, it seems everyone is against each other. Dutch and Claudette, Monica and Acevada, Shane and Vic, and now slowly buy maybe surely, Julien and Danny.

-Lem is definately pissed off. Shane screwed him over TWICE in one episode, and I really hope Lem and Shane fight in the next episode. Did you see Shane's face when Lem threw him to the wall? LOL.

-Last season, Claudette gave some advice to Julien about some african american program for cops or something like that. Can anyone remember? Seems like there's going to be some hostility here between him/Danny/Monica

-Antwon shot the girl with Shane's gun, right? and the card too being put in her pocket. I wonder if IAD or Monica will suspect from the autopsy/report.

Great episode last night. I almost pissed my self laughing with the hidden camera in dutches car. The air conditioning bit him trying to kiss her then the hungry like a wolf sealed it as a classic TV moment. This season is kicking major ass it is great to see vic back on the streets in ass kick mode. This good boy vic is going to be ended when he has to kill some people to get shane out of trouble.

Shane and his partner will have to dispose of her body and cover it up or explain why she's filled with lead from their pieces ;)

Fantastic Episode.

Ant Mitchell is finally starting to show his true self. At this rate his gonna top Armadilo as the Shields top bad guy.

Interesting to see what Shanes reaction will be to witnessing the kids death... more so if Lem finds out Shane was partly responsible.

Dude, I think Shane is going to have to go to Vic for help. He's fucked right now and I don't think its out of the realm of possibility for him to go crawling to Vic to help get him out of it.

This good boy vic is going to be ended when he has to kill some people to get shane out of trouble.

Hell yeah! I'd like to see something like that take place.

And who knew Aceveda would go for beating up on hookers? Gonna be real interesting to see where that one leads....

Great ep. Looks like the fuse is lit, this is going to get good. This season had a slow start, but it's getting pretty tense. The camera in Shane's car was just too sweet :D.

It'll be interesting to see what Rawling did to piss Vic off. She seems to pretty level-headed so far.

Wow I'm pretty sure Vic isn't going to be Mr. good cop after
he views the tape of Mitchell telling Shane the girls body for...Vics body
Todays episode has finally brought back that old feeling I've had from viewing the previous season. Things are getting a whole lot better.

oh shit another great episode.

Shane is gonna get fucked. I had a feeling lem was gonna die this episode too.

What an awesome show.

Oh man, it's so intense when they go on that sting for Shane's CI and Vic motions Shane to go first, and Lem looks all worried when they split up :lol.

Pretty awesome how Vic traded Shane's CI for his own case :lol, I didn't expect that.

It appears the showdown is next week, but I'm betting Shane will crack and team up with Vic truly to take down Antwon. I think he said something like "I need your help" in the preview, he is probably talking to Vic.

Only halfway through the season.

Another great episode. Vic screwing shane over to help his case was great. Dutch dating Vic's old lady has the potental to be all time great stuff. I really really love this season of the shield makes up for last years so so season.

Got around to watching the torrent.

Fuck that was an amazing episode. Dutchboy is so gonna get his ass beat when Vic finds out.

'Im a cop, get that light of my face and get outta here !

Badass !!!

This season is awesome. Not as good as the 2nd but still damn good.

Can't wait for Tuesday's episode!
This is easily the best season so far. The second season was the worst, imo... the Armadillo stuff was completely awesome and riviting, and then they rushed to a conclusion, and spent the next 3 episodes setting up for season three... it really really frustrated me.

Anyway, this show just keeps getting better, I don't know how they do it. Vic is the goddamn man.
