Fox didn't air Bart the Lover because it isn't in HD.

Yes, which means it doesn't look like weird, glossy crap like the HD episodes.
Speaking of which, Fox really needs to put out the earlier episodes out in HD already. But for some reason, they seem lazy in regards of putting out the pre HD episodes out in HD by simply uprezzing the standard def content. I mean, for god's sake, Seinfeld is out in HD. Friends (as much as I hate that show) is in HD. That '70's Show is going through the HD process. Hell, Paramount made a big deal about bringing Star Trek: The Next Generation to HD screens. Going so far as to actually reshoot the models on film, I believe. So why is Fox so lazy about its most valuable franchise? That '70's Show, another Fox show, while not as well regarded in the pop culture sector as The Simpsons has got it's first two seasons series out on BD with a third one in the works. Is there some sort of stigma against giving animated TV shows a proper HD release? At least outside of Japan? As far as I know, the only US made shows that I were given a BD release that I can think of off the top of my head were the first 2 seasons series of the Justice League (which came out almost 3 years apart with so far no plans to go beyond those 2) and for some reason, That Jackson 5 cartoon from the '70's, which I can only assume wasn't as much of a hassle to get together for a release, since that came out before the days of non-liner editing that many TV shows since the '80's have been done on. Oh the Batman Beyond direct to video movie got a BD release (which I imported and was amazing), but what about the whole series?

So why is Fox lazy with bringing out a proper HD release of the pre-HD episodes of the Simpsons? Did they somehow destroy all the original film negatives to save on storage (god hope that that didn't happen)? Did they somehow lose the key to the salt mines where they're probably stored? Or are they simply just a bunch of cheapskates? I guess we may never find out until they actually do give them the HD treatment.

Boy, was that a long winded mini essay over what was basically people complaining about Bart the Lover not airing because it wasn't in HD.

That's a lot of episodes to remaster in HD, which is probably why it hasn't happened.

The deficit rag, oh yeah the deficit rag,
Those budget gaps can be a twelve-digit drag,
I'm telling ya, that's the deficit,
They really made a mess of it,
That's the deficit rag!

Well I decided to honour Marcia Wallace by watching Bart the Lover on my own. It's strange how, as a teacher myself, some of the Krabappel jokes seem even better.

Also watching the episode led me to actually look up Gordie Howe. always assumed he was just some randomer, but wow, what a career he had.

Probably been posted before but..

Just shows you how sterile the animation is in the post-HD era. I also hate that constant shadow that characters have on the edges of their bodies now. Just the whole look of the show since it went HD is so soulless. Even in that Bart screecap above it's pissing me off. There's a shadow all along his right side WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

You mean shading? Yeah, that annoys me too.

Marge: I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with the idea of your classmates laughing at our family's private moments. How would you like it if, twenty years from now, people were laughing at things you did?
Bart: Not likely.
How right they were.

Moe is their leader.

Oh wow, My9 is showing repeats of the golden era, Homer the Heretic is on now. It's a nice change since the Fox affiliate here has been showing nothing but bad seasons for years now.
