Really pumped to watch this tomorrow. I don't even care if it's dumb so long as it manages to be spooky once in a while and entertaining.

This Penny Dreadful talk reminds me I was interested in catching that too. It's like a League of Extraordinary Gentleman Dark thing right?

Between picking up this, starting Hannibal and maybe Penny, I've gone done the horror show rabbit hole after initially getting hooked on TV in the first place with stuff like BB, Truuuu Detective and Mad Men lol.

Too bad Halt seems to have petered out :-/

With heaps of incredible performances by the two main characters (Victor is also amazing) and zero steampunk imaginery.

It's very, very good, in no small part thanks to Green and Dalton. I imagine they couldn't qualify in time for this year's Emmys, so I hope they make it to the next year.

Series premiere today:
Season 1: episode 1 "Night Zero" (Directed by Guillermo del Toro, written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan)

When a plane lands in New York City with all its passengers mysteriously dead, Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll) of the CDC Canary Project is sent to investigate with his team. Abraham Setrakian (David Bradley), a Holocaust survivor turned Harlem pawnbroker, claims to have encountered this disease previously and demands that the bodies must be destroyed.

I'm looking forward to this, but I probably won't get around to it until tomorrow.

Sort of, but with a heavy emphasis on (amazing) acting and (wonderful) monologues. The pacing is glacial and there's very little action to speak of. It's really unlike anything else in the genre, not to mention unlike anything else on TV.

I do hope they go into detail about the story behind that cane

and heart

also, that was exactly as nasty as I expected it to be.

Spoilers from San Diego Comic-Con's Sunday schedule concerning a decent plot point and implications for the pacing of the show:

Episode Three is Redfern. So, it won't be as fast paced as initially thought. If Eph and Nora experience their first attack at the third episode, then the show may be taking its time (as it should). Also, some new material for Fet, as he is a regular but doesn't come in until way later in the novel. It sounds like he is the B story to the Redfern A story. And I thought the Redfern attack was going to be the cliffhanger for episode one.

I will be attending the Strain panel at SDCC. Any other GAF?

Is fx on hulu yet?
I don't have cable.

Yes, but due to shit like Net Neutrality, it is now behind a paywall.
