For those who don't know, White Stripes are a blues-rock duo consisting of Jack White and Meg. Their instruments are usually a set of drums (Meg) and guitar (Jack), occasionally piano and other instruments are included.

The White Stripes was an American rock duo, formed in 1997 in Detroit, Michigan. The group consisted of Jack White (songwriter, vocals, guitar, bass and keyboards) and Meg White (drums and occasional vocals), who were married from 1996 to 2000.[2][3] After releasing several singles and three albums within the Detroit music scene, the White Stripes rose to prominence in 2002, as part of the garage rock revival scene. Their successful and critically acclaimed albums White Blood Cells and Elephant drew attention from a large variety of media outlets in the United States and the United Kingdom, with the single "Seven Nation Army" and its now-iconic guitar line becoming a huge hit. The band recorded two more albums, Get Behind Me Satan in 2005 and Icky Thump in 2007, and dissolved in 2011 after a lengthy hiatus from performing and recording.[4]

The White Stripes used a low-fidelity approach to writing and recording. Their music featured a melding of garage rock and blues influences and a raw simplicity of composition, arrangement, and performance. The duo was also noted for their fashion and design aesthetic which featured a simple color scheme of red, white, and black – which was used on every album and single cover the band released – as well as the band's obsession with the number three. The band's discography consists of six studio albums, one live album, two extended plays (EP), one concert film, one tour documentary, twenty-six singles, and fourteen music videos. Their last three albums each won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album.[5]

Their albums are on Spotify, most of their songs sound like something of the above.

Get Behind Me Satan is the only album of their I own. I really like their sound on that album. My Doorbell is probably my favorite track on it, that or Blue Orchid.

Jack White is one of my music heroes. The guy is awesome.

If I had to pick a favourite song of theirs it would be "I can't wait", but there are so many other great songs to choose from. The "Jolene" cover is a good pick but I think their best cover is "I just don't know what do with myself". Awesome band

A bit too retro for my taste, but I suppose they're not terrible. They're are a lot of better alternative bands out there, even in the pot-punk subgenre.

Man I can listen to the Under Blackpool Lights version of "Death Letter" all day. The stripped down version of blues Jack was playing in those days really changed my whole outlook on music at the time. It's still a lot of fun to see what Jack can do with a very talented band backing him, but there will never be anything quite like the distilled fury that was in those White Stripes songs when played live.

Fuck yeah! Love me some White Stripes. Love Jack's solo work too, but something about that Stripes sound will never be topped. So raw and powerful.

Love everything Jack has ever done. Definitely opened a lot of doors for me as far as musical taste and creativity. Here's to Jack!

I really enjoyed White Blood Cells and Elephant. They started to lose me with Get Behind Me Satan, and I didn't care for Icky Thump at all.

This mirrors my thoughts.

For me, Elephant was their peak, Get Behind Me Satan was good but not Elephant-good, Icky Thump was just serviceable.

White Blood Cells was their peak. De Stijl and Elephant were also great. Get Behind Me Satan was decent. The first and last have a lot of good stuff, but are quite uneven.

I really enjoy all of Jack's work with The Reconteurs as well as his solo/White Stripes stuff. He has a way of elevating material with his style.

He also did a great Elvis impersonation in the Dewy Cox movie.
