I really miss the days of a powerhouse Nintendo system. I'd give anything if Nintendo would change their "We are a toy company" philosophy and put a next-gen GPU in this thing.

Who cares if it would be $599? I think any gamer here would pay that for a truly mindblowing Zelda, Mario, Starfox, F-Zero.

because this strategy works so well for sony and microsofts profit margins.

For what it's worth, the reader that sent me those pics actually does work at Blockbuster. He's been sending in various tips since early 2010. Take that for what it's worth.

He also said the listing indicated a £299.99 Wii U price with games ranging from £39.99 to £29.99, but he didn't have a pic for that.

I think you'll see truly mindblowing graphics come from Nintendo with the Wii U; don't forget the GPU (although we know very little about it) is much more capable than the current HD consoles are. Don't be fooled by the media stories positioning the Wii U as "weaker" or "on par" when one compares tech specs. The Wii U is more powerful; but once everything goes HD the differences become harder to note; in that respect potentially everything may be "on par"

Next gen consoles (all of them, including the Wii U) will be pumping out amazing lighting and shadow techniques, which is where the "next gen" feeling is really going to come from.

Wii U will be a powerful system, make no mistake.

That said, I also understand what you're trying to say, but, don't forget, going all out with tech specs is never the answer. Besides, as a business, Nintendo is genius. Sure their moves are questionable at times but in the real world $ sense they are absolutely smart. They know what they're doing.

If you want to see something pump insane graphics, you should look over console gaming in general and start building a gaming PC. That's the simple truth to it.

But Nintendo is the only company with the IPs to justify that price, imo. I personally would not mind paying more to have graphically superior games.

EDIT: I have never understood the "build a gaming PC" argument. I have a top of the line PC, but once again, it doesn't offer me the great Nintendo franchises we all love to play. Im a console and PC gamer, but I still feel I have the right to play graphically impressive Nintendo games. You'll never get that on PC (no need to mention Dolphin, that's cheating).

Dat prices! Thinkin about it Sounds very possible 299 WiiU sure plenty people here predicted that before..and those other shovel ware titles and rayman rabbids are very well not worth 60 if or 50$ in the long run so I can see how those prices could be honest estimates.

$400? I think we all predicted that range, yes?

Likely placeholders, to be sure, as Nintendo (Iwata) said pricing and release date would not be revealed at E3. This may even include launch titles.

Retailers often work like this, where they start inputting certain items and SKUs when really there isn't anything official. Its more likely a chain-of-command thing, if that makes sense.

lol

Its just missing the games that are still unanounced until june 5th.

Even if its somewhat accurate and may even be "real". Unannounced games certanly wouldn´t appear on it. Lets wait with the "Nintendo is DOOMED" stuff until after E3, ok?

Even if third partys won´t support it, i buy it for the Nintendo games mostly (+ the´good third party games. But i won´t cry if we don´t get them)

EDIT: I call BS on that list. Isn´t it strange that it features EVERY single game wich there were tiny hints/rumblings from the industrie/journalists that there coming. Everything else that is supposed to be new has amazingly creative titles like "Zombie", " Game Party". Seriusly? Put a little more effort into your fake.

That seems low. Awesome if true

That list is a mix of announced titles, plausible speculation, and implausible speculation (two Rabbids titles? Shield Pose as a retail product?). I wouldn't put any stock in it.

I've decided that next gen I will take an Alienware X51 and WiiU at launch ,,,,,I'll wait until the PS4 at least 3 years in its life and then buy one to try all the old games.

I wouldn't.
dont lie u would sell a kidney for a WiiU :P

Ugh. This would be such a mediocre launch line-up, with a high price to boot.

It's probably just a code name, but yeah going by the name it sounds like a minigame using subscreen features.

Shield Pose is the name of one of the tech demos from last year. No way this is going to be a game. Reggie said himself that those were just examples on what can be done with the controller and not games. Shield Pose is especially weak as a game. Chase Mii would be better suited to be a game btw.

It bears noting that Nintendo isn't even going to announce the price for another four months. I can guarantee you that no retailer anywhere actually knows any concrete launch details.

Yeah that really helped the PS3...

I'm a huge Nintendo fangirl and no way I'd pay more than $299 for ANY console.

At this point, I don't think even Nintendo knows what they're going to price the U at. It's probably still being decided.

So in my catchup, I saw a lot of talk about Retro doing dudebro games.... really?

I don't deny that there could be appeal to an FPS from them, but it's always been my feeling that they could do the FPS genre a service by making something more akin to Team Fortress 2. Out of every FPS I've played, it still ranks among one of my favorites. The game design, the classes, the charm and humor.... there's nothing else like it. I could see a game like this appealing very widely, and it'd be my hope that it would be something that Nintendo could get behind as a more broad enthusiast gamer title.

This would be my worst case scenario. Starfox should just die. And that IP would be a waste of talent.

I'd rather have them work on another Brain Training game than on an IP that is about as worthless and dead as Startropics.

...... really?

I'd say I have a realistic view on the IP. Regardless of how much I enjoyed SF64 and even SFA, I realized very early that the IP and basic premise is not really fit for a real franchise with multiple installments.

The only real thing you can do with this IP is to rerelease SF64 over and over again, maybe an HD remake or a sequle following the structure of SF64 to the point, but I don't see any chance of the IP getting anywhere. I'd also think that other studios (Treasure) would be much more suited at the kind of arcadey mission design that would be required to build upon the only good SF game SF64.

.... SERIOUSLY??!?

Ok, what was wrong with StarFox Assault? I mean, I loved the game. The controls took a lot of getting use to and it was short, but for what it is, it's pretty good. If a dev tried to take the Assault gameplay, and iron out the wrinkles in it, then it would make an amazing TPS.

The problem with Star Fox Assault was primarily that Namco put the Ace Combat team on it and then had the Ace Combat team do on-foot sections, something that their design talent didn't lend itself to. I found myself getting nauseous while playing the ground sections. Never a good thing. Wasn't a BAD game by any means, it just had its flaws. I liked Panther Caroso, though, he was an awesome addition to the character lineup. Putting Crystal in an Arwing was an.... interesting choice, but it worked because of her dialogue with Panther.

I still think there's a lot to be done with Star Fox, such as really embracing an online multiplayer aspect to compliment a single player campaign. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Furry space opera. Make it happen, Nintendo.

I really wish Square Enix got onboard with the Wii U. A new Crystal Chronicles, Dissidia, or even a mainline title would show a lot of people what's up.

They've already said they're reviewing putting Final Fantasy on the system, so... there's that.

Fuck dudebros.

If we're going to just make games based on what dudebros want, then lets just stop making Kirby and Donkey Kong and Pikmin while we're at it.

Exactly. You can make a game for enthusiasts without falling into the dudebro trap.

So Versus XIII isn't at E3

Nibel, post if you're ok, man.

Hehehehehe, all the more time for them to prep the inevitable WiiU port. I'm telling you, it's gonna happen.

Kinda off topic maybe, but some retailers are indeed leaked some info before, I'm not sure how close is the relationship between Nintendo and retailers but it could be possible that they got relevant info early? Or it depends on the company?

Nintendo is the paranoid kind that doesn't look like sharing sensible info with nobody.

You should wait a bit before buying an aliemware x51, make sure it has the powerfull components for next gen

Im planning to have three 7970 in my computer :P

Oh no not first party stuff. Nintendo is doing that for 3rd party games. So for example if Killer Freaks is a select launch title, which I believe it is, Nintendo is matching the advertising dollars for it. So if Ubisoft was planning say $10M, Nintendo is giving them an additional $10M to advertise KF.

HOLY SHHHHH,,,,if this is true then I really wanna see what Nintendo is planning for marketing the thing,,,,Micro did what? like half billion for markting Kinect ? Nintendo needs to be in everyone face with the WiiU especially since its gonna be near Xmas !

wait,,I though I can upgrade the thing !! and btw any news of a new product in the X51 line ??
and 3 freakin cards !!! WTH ?? u need Articuno to cool that thing ^_^"

Seems like MS might not have all that much to show at E3 after all. On the latest bonus round Patcher said he's heading over to MS in the upcoming weeks and they told him to not expect a lot of games and rather dashboard stuff.

Seems like they're going for Halo 4, CoD, Kinect, and Home Entertainment Device stuff at E3. It's just Sony I'm not sure of at this point. Seems like if Nintendo doesn't fuck up they'll have the best E3.
