Well that's fair enough. I don't participate in those other community threads so I don't know what those commonalities are. I just hope that it begins to feel more like a community (less bickering guys, yeah?)That is just one reason. The main reason is this series of threads is a regular, community driven discussion, and has been for nearly a year. It functions in a similar manner to game OTs, and unlike opinion and other idea sharing threads, doesn't get buried under mountains of other threads once the discussion has run it's course. There is no specific topic of discussion, or strict sharing of ideas, in these threads. And that's fine. But it's why it's going to community.
It is a community sharing ideas and opinions on a wide variety of topics related to the thread's title. A community that has been doing so continuously for months.
superannuation thinks Rayman Legends may be a Wii U exclusive, though he/she doesn't elaborate as to why. I'm not buying it, though.

Hmm.. Nintendo fans seem to have the messiest, fiercest intra-community fights of all fan groups. Nothing's going to magically stop us from squabbling. It would be for Ubi's best interest to have Rayman Legends exclusive, at least for a while. If people buy the PS360Vita versions instead of the Wii U version, then they stand to make less money by not being able to sell all those NFC figurines due to the other consoles not having the NFC feature.
Unless plans have changed since that leaked video was created, false. A portion of the video was labeled "Wii-U exclusive features" (or something like that) That would obviously point to at least one other version.

So.. umm.. let's talk about our favorite Zelda games again, and where we want the series to go!
(just kidding. Please.. let's not!)

A timed exclusive maybe, but I just don't see it.

After they ported Rayman Origins to every system possible, they have a workflow and setup to do that again. Also, the 'Wii U exclusive features' implies only the features are exclusive.
Do we know which version of Origins sold the best? I wouldn't be surprised if it was the wii version.

I think that PS720 will be around 4 - 6 times PS360. I don't expect memory pools to be larger then 2Gb but do expect a reasonable increase in GPU performance. Maybe even 10x the performance of current gen.
CPU wise, probably only 2-3x. I don't expect huge leaps here.
So overal. Something like 4 - 6 times what we have now. Anything more will be a bonus.
3 = Xbox 360
U = Wii U
X = Xbox3/PS4

Speaking of NFC, do you guys think there is a big enough market to support a large number of franchises all with their own collectible figurines? Skylanders has proven there is a big market, but I can just hear the parents saying "but you never play with all those figures we bought you for game you already own, we're not going to start buying you a whole new collection for another game you'll forget about in 6 months time!"
No way. Rayman was a success because it was on everything under the sun.superannuation thinks Rayman Legends may be a Wii U exclusive, though he/she doesn't elaborate as to why. I'm not buying it, though.
Yeah definitely, but it helps that those are recognisable characters. What I doubt is whether other publishers will be able to replicate Skylanders' success by bringing in a new IP (well Spyro was an existing IP but plays a very small role in the success) onto Wii U and selling a new range of unknown charactersSmash Bros could easily do it.
No way. Rayman was a "success" because it was on everything under the sun.

Thanks. Subscribed!I can completely understand the reticence of people to go to Community to find the thread. As others have said, it's something new, and people like ruts. For me, I've had this account setup to automatically subscribe to every thread I post in since the Search went out the first time. That way, I can scan the first few pages for new threads, and then go to my Subscriptions to find any other threads that I've posted in that have updates. Been doing that so long that a move to Community will be inconsequential for keeping up with the thread, in my case, at least.
To subscribe to all threads you've posted in,
1) USER CP
2) Edit Options
3) Default Thread Subscription Mode -> No email notification
4) Save Changes
The only issue is for thread VII and beyond. However if those start off in Gaming (which they should), then I'm sure I'll post in them at least once before they get moved to Community, anyways.
Smash Bros could easily do it.

Ok, thanks. To visualize it we would then expect the spread to be something along the lines of this:Code:3 = Xbox 360 U = Wii U X = Xbox3/PS4 --3-U--U------------------------X-------------------X --1----|----2----|----3----|----4----|----5----|----6
OT, but does anyone have the pic of the E3 conferences and the time zones?

A good example of this was The Godfather.
The Godfather on Wii was way more fun than the 360/PS3 versions.
Yet Godfather sold way more on 360/PS3. I'm sure there's many reasons for this, but this is one example.
I don't know, it all sounds like a stretch. On cell phones it's MOSTLY a gimmick, even though there are some real world uses coming up, on a video game controller...it's pushing it, even for nintendo. I truly wonder if they have a lot of ideas for it, or if they are doing it for future proofing and hope they come with a good way to milk it down the line.
Yeah this thread has been a community thread for a very long time.
Don't see much point in that, you could just as well use WLAN. Although with NFC you wouldn't need to fumble around with the 3DS I suppose.Whoever suggested the idea of 3DS carts having chips detectable by NFC, I like that.
Yep. That's my expectation. I don't expect a huge leap for next gen PS360.

This thread was created to keep non-news Wii U discussion in one place because we were specifically asked to. People were "tired of seeing all the Wii U threads" during/after E3, so fine. All of the technical speculation about the hardware, ideas for the tablet, discussions about which games are underway, etc - it was all done in here. Now that this is being transplanted into Community, does that mean we can go back to how it was before? Or does there have to be actual news/interviews about Wii U before making a thread about it?
Indeed.I have to wonder how well something like this would take off across multiple games. There's no way in heck my parents would have funded an addiction like that when I was a kid, and I sort of feel the same way (although my oldest isn't even 2 years old yet and has never played a video game).
Man, but I could see some insane Pokemon monetization off this feature.
Golden Pikachu, only 2000 were made! $ 500Now imagine how much Pokemon will go for..
I dunno, Mii bonuses or something small and gimmicky for owning a 3DS game, it unlocking some stuff on your Wii U profile.
Doubt it would make much difference. Even if stores sold out of consoles for a while, I don't think many people would go to Walmart or wherever with the intention to buy a 360, see they are out of stock and think "well then I'll buy this other console instead"!Not to go off-topic, but what are the chances of that Xbox 360 ban going through? Would it affect Wii U alot or only very little?
