Personally, I am looking forward to the PS3 version when they REALLY revolutionize the series. One of the better PSP games, but not worth it to me. btw, the framerate in the videos seems pretty solid.

First lap - if you boost at the line, everyone will pass you before you're halfway done with the lap. Possible to get to about 6th by the end of this lap.
Second/Third Lap - You can make it to 4th most of the time. Sometimes 3rd.
Next-to-Last Lap - Most of the time you'll make 2nd. Sometimes 1st.
Last Lap - If you didn't make first yet, You'll come up on the guy who is 1st and have to fight him for it. If you make any mistakes at all, you're not getting a gold. If you started off this lap in 1st, the 2nd place craft will magically pass you near at the end of the lap. If you don't have a boost or manage to nail them with a weapon, you get silver.
I've lost count of the number of times the above has happened to me. It's frustrating as shit! I understand the desire to have challenging AI, but damn. I know when I'm doing poorly and it doesn't bother me to get silvers then. But when I'm kicking ass and the AI just flies by me at the end... not so happy. I hate having to get lucky to win the race when I have the track down perfect.
Man this game rules. Auricom forever, baby.
It's been a little over a year since i played the first Wipeout, but it feels a bit floatier than that. i don't mind the floatiness that much, but the odd physic gaffes and cheesy/brutal AI are annoying. i got eliminated IN THE F*CKING AIR by a CPU quake after having made a jump. i was about to do a barrel roll and speed into the finish line, in first place no less.Panajev2001a said:These kinds of controls are what made Wipeout stand out and feel so good to play.
The first two Wipeout games were GREAT.

Lemming_JRS said:Who here uses dual airbrakes, and who uses the single airbrake setting? I'm using dual b/c it's what I'm used to from XL. Should I switch? Is the "slide left/right" control useful?
Yea, the Zone ship rules all. Haven't even thought of using something else since I unlocked it.Wario64 said:If you guys are having trouble with the higher classes, I urge you to play the zones and get golds on all 4 zones. You get a vehicle unlocked name "Zone" and it's awesome. It has low shields though so I hope you're skilled enough to go through laps without hitting walls in time trial. You'll still end up absoring a lot of power ups though after getting attacked and all
Now at 88 golds (master rank). Tackling single races in phantom class before even attempting tournaments...
DarienA said:Incredibly dumb question time... what's the difference between single and dual airbrake?
Lemming_JRS said:Dual: L and R buttons control the airbrakes on their respective sides, like WipeoutXL.
Single: R button + R pad for right airbrake, R button + L pad for left airbrake.
Out of curiousity, what's you time spent looking at stats? :lolWario64 said:I couldn't stand single airbrake. It's like going from manual to automatic transmission. Dual airbrakes all the way! Besides, I never used the slide move thingy
I'm nearly finished in 100%'ing this game. About 121 golds, rank: junkie![]()
Jonnyram said:^ what was your battery life like at this point?
We noticed in ad-hoc Ridge Racer games that low battery life makes the framerate really, really choppy, but it's fine if your battery is ok.
Time trial is all about speed, which means hitting the speed pads, not hitting walls, and taking turns well. Pirhana is a fast team but with poor handling. Try a team like Harimau that has better handling, which is especially true on some of the tracks with a lot of curves.Ignatz Mouse said:OK, I suck at Wipeout Pure.
I've never been great-- I've never completed any of the higher classes in any Wipeout game-- but I'm just a doddering fool with Pure. I've gotten all Golds in vector races but can' get above Bronze in time trials. Venom kicks me around, I can eek out Silver in some races, but often I just blow up.
I'm sure I'l get better with practive (I haven't played that much so far) but this fact that there are *4* more leagues is discouraging.
Any tips? I'm using Piranha, the fastest ship I have available to me.
And and the game is a lot of fun anyway. I think it would be very cool if we got mroe classic tracks. Karbonis, the only classic track I've unlocked, is one of the most boring of the old series' tracks.
aoi tsuki said:Honestly, i haven't bothered with time trial much. The lack of other craft is both a godsend and an annoyance. i can't bring myself to play time trial without others to race against, although on the higher speed classes the AI is annoyingly brutal and cheap at times.

I'll try a different craft. I asked because back in WOXL days, I sucked and sucked until I picked a faster ship, and suddenly I was beating tracks like crazy. Sounds like picking the fastest ship isn't necessarily the best idea in Pure, at least for now.
