One weakpoint of the game is the Loot imo. You find a lot of it but 90% of my time the stuff I already wear is better. This is true for both playthrough. Got the mage trousers from the very beginning, those are good enough for the whole game. Got a pick axe which is still thebest weapon though I did find "special ones". Even beter then the ones I could make. The armor I changed only once so far.

Hey, as long as they keep up with the quality writing, I'm all up for it.

i'm happy to keep buying witcher games as long as it makes sense and as long as they're quality games.

i don't mind if spend 5 years or so branching out into a different i.p.

Yeah, but it'd be shitty for them to just be stuck making Witcher games until the end of time.

a new IP from CD Project is very likely to be announced this year. They are working on some new big IP. I can't say the genre though but it's likely an RPG.

I vaguely recall an interview about them working on some games. Can't remember if it was two or three? I thought it was the same interview where they talked about their next game being built for next gen and pretty well hinted one of those games was of course Witcher 3. Can't find the interview now, though. The thought of a next gen focused Witcher, too much for my brain to handle...

EDIT: Found it. It's two games. So one Witcher and one original IP, I hope. Sadly, I would bet Witcher 3 is 2015.

EDIT 2: Some interesting bits.

One of these is new IP.

CD Projekt is putting together a new team to make this game. The Witcher team won't be involved. "The second team is just a few guys right now," shared Badowski, "because we decided not to split the original Witcher team in two parts, but to hire new staff, and we've just started."

"The second project is during the early pre-production stage, so we don't need the huge team for that."

What will this new IP be? "We are staying in RPG," Badowski said.

And Witcher 3 talk:

What's the other AAA+ game being made by The Witcher team, then?

It has to be The Witcher 3 - please can you put us out of our misery and confirm it, we asked?

"Frankly speaking, not yet," Platkow-Gilewski replied. "Give us some time; I'm sure we will announce it pretty fast in the following months, but we want to do everything in the proper order. And right now we are focused on polishing and bringing the Enhanced Edition to Xbox 360 and PC."

Anyone else having save problems on Steam? When I die in
the first fight with Letho,
it loads me all the way back
following Zoltan.
I see it auto-saving, but it never loads it.

The mage trousers is part of the "pre-order DLC" that they eventually gave everyone, right? I turned off all of that DLC because it breaks the balance and takes some of the fun out of the game.

By the way, I just crafted some Halfling Pattern Trousers in the game and I believe this is a new item, and it has an upgrade slot which I don't believe any trousers had before. They seem to be bugged though, as they appear invisible in the game and despite having an upgrade slot they cannot be upgraded. Has anyone else encountered this?

Cloud saving is broken. It' supposed to overwrite the old files on the cloud server when it runs out of room. But even if you shut cloud save off it just stops saving once you hit the 100 meg limit.

Go through this pain in the ass process to fix it and return it to the regular save system.

Can I get some combat tips? When I am facing like a group of enemies, what do you do? I try to cast YRDEN on the floor to freeze one of them, then maybe throw a bomb, then charge in and hope to kill atleast one and then rinse and repeat. Maybe throw a fireball or ARDEN if i can. Not sure if i am playing the game right, I see the GAME OVER screen a lot more frequently if i dont try to use bombs.... also i drink pots, put oils, try to upgrade my equipment as best as i can, if that helps, etc.

Is there healing pots in the game? or is Quen the only answer? another reason why i am dying so frequently.

Also, the dam game is 44$ at amazon....really? already? *sigh*

Chapter 1 - I think the Nekker cave for a certain side quest
Melani (sp?)
respawns
Chapter 2 - the harpies will respawn if you don't set the traps. Start at the cabin at night and work your way to the bottom. Run back up and meditate to Midnight, rinse/repeat. I'm currently farming this one myself.
Chapter 3 - I've heard to make backup save before completing the
Gargoyle hunt
quest just in case you don't make it to 35 by the end. Haven't gotten that far yet to check for myself though.

Thanks. Gonna play again. Full combat build this time.

Also, destroy the straw dummies. Once you kill 10 of them, you get a 10% XP bonus. 5 to start the game, and then you can kill 6 as soon as you get to Flotsam.

Mind blown!

Holy crap @ straw dummies tip. Thank you! Downside is that I missed all of them in the prologue. I saw about 4 in Flotsam. Do they regenerate/respawn?

edit: nevermind, just checked, and respawned dummies count only once. Looks like I lost out on the xp bonus until I find more dummies in Act 3. DAMMIT.

tackle ONE enemy at once. Use quen. ROLL. Do some crowd control.

and never ever get surrounded.

do you use target lock when you roll? sometimes i 360 roll back into the enemy instead of AWAY from the enemy. Is Quen a necessity? becuase I have not upgraded it hmmmm....

Most important instinct to develop is knowing how many hits you can get away with on someone before you have to retreat to avoid everyone else coming up behind you.

Also something that's easy to overlook is that your sword takes a hefty damage penalty when you're lower on stamina, so anytime you can roll instead of block, and use a bomb instead of a sign, it'll keep your sword damage up.

I think there are only 13. 5 in prologue, two by each exit from Flotsam, 2 in the Flotsam barracks, and 2 in Loredo's mansion, but they are only destructible at the very end if you choose
Roche
I could be forgetting some in Act 2 or 3, though. Not sure.

I believe you also get fatigue if you roll too much, which reduces damage.

You can get the exp bonus in the prologue. I killed the 5 straw dummies then played poker saving prior to each match and reloading if I lost until I got the Poker! Achievement. The dummies had respawned and the 10th one gave me my bonus.

For the life of me I can't remember ever getting the opportunity to play dice poker in prologue...you mean act 1 in Flotsam right?

No, you can play poker and arm wrestle in the same area as the dummies. A couple of guys in the tents set back from where troops are drilling.

Respawn didn't work for me, though. I killed 15 dummies in the prologue on reload to no avail. Maybe playing the poker has something to do with it.

Just finished W2 on Roche's path. Done both paths now and Roche's path is by far more interesting and entertaining. Gave the story more depth.
So much so that i felt the game was too short and wanted so much more. Its been a very long time since iv felt like that about a game.
Best RPG iv played in such a long time.

Nice to see the extra touch after the credits too.
Bring on The Witcher 3. I'l be waiting day one.

THat's cool...the orens wouldn't hurt early on for your frist trip to flotsam either...goood to know...I recall I avoided dice poker early on as it was glitching on my system alot ealry on...or maybe I just missed it completely...I missed the
Newboy group
my very first time through....glad I restarted on dark....only to not be able to complete
meliteles heart
anyway owing to some either very glitchy, or comletely inpet choicemanship prior to sailing on to act 1....for some reason I didn't want to have him die, so I reloaded to have him live, but was sure he gave me the amulet as a gift...it was nowhere to be found later on.

Anyone have any tips for the Kayran ??? I can't seem to beat it no matter how much I roll and spam Yrden.
step by step instructions ot get through kayran:
1.) put quen on (in case you fail the next step which is possible until you get better)
2.) stand at a 45 degree angle to kayran on either side off centre....there is a light coloured pathc of grasss to target there for your yrden drop to come
3.) drop yrden
4.) wait for the tell that kayran will drop the tentacle down on you whiel standing on your yrden drop or at least in line with it and the kayran (he will track you and his tentacle will hit your yrden drop this way)
5.) roll away just in time to not get hit
6.) I feeel stupid for stating the obviosu here but just in case: make some serious calamari out of the bulbous part of the tentacle once its trapped!!!!!!!

do this twice on the left, once on the right (seems easier)
stay away from the rock face behind you

YOu will survive a mistake or two with quen on but someone said that vigor does not replenish with quen on so he actually PLANS on getting smashed with quen on in order tha his vigor is replenished for his next quen/yrden....not bad logic to be honest...except that a better way to relieve your quen would be to enage int eh QTE trap at the back of the rock face as it ususally won't result in any vitality loss at all and the tentacle smash is more predictable there.....but either way the thing you are missing I think is that
the tentacle comes down based on your position....positioning yourself near the yrden drop
is necessary to complete this boss imo.

Did they nerfed the battle against
Vandergrift ghost
? I remember having to evade flaming arrows or something like that, it was a pain in the ass. Now there's nothing.

Need some input with the quest
"Death To The Traitor!"

So it wants me to meet Roche's men after dark in the alley behind Loredo's mansion, but nothing is happening. I climb up the ladder there and I'm caught - is that supposed to happen?

Did this many people seriously not build the trap?

I didn't, but I didn't find the fight too difficult at all once I knew what I was doing.

a new IP from CD Project is very likely to be announced this year. They are working on some new big IP. I can't say the genre though but it's likely an RPG.

Adam Kicinski already confirmed it's going to be an RPG but with guns this time and based on an existing brand.

Jesus. I never played Arena mode pre-EE but I could barely get past level 1. Combat is hard as shit, even on Normal. I actually have to use signs other than Quen now! Before if I oiled up and mediated I could pretty much quen and roll my way through the game - never had to use knives or bombs. Now it's looking like combat in this game is gonna be way more interesting. Come to think of it I don't really know why I ignored arena for so long after how much I've played Gears 3 horde and Modern Warfare 3 survival.

The main reason why I have yet to attempt this game on anything above normal though is the fight at the end of chapter 1. He's still a handful for me, even on normal, and that was pre-EE Quen nerfs.

Playing TW2 keeps making me wish CDProjekt would do a Mass Effect spinoff or something, or at least a competing space RPG. Hell, they partially became famous in Poland for their localizations of Baldur's Gate.

Can someone explain to me why the guide that comes with the game tells me to turn off the torches in the operator fight to stop summons when that fact is completely bullshit?

Also why they shrank the size if the boss room from the PC videos I have looked at and included fucked up hit boxes of what might be invisible rocks that stop you cold infront of the torches?

If i could maneuver worth a dam in that room I might have a better chance other then being crazy powerful enough to 3 hit the gargoyles.

I bought it then tried to use it....loaded a save then saved my money for the oathbreaker set...yrden is better anyway and much much cheaper. I assume most were like me and just realized it wasn't worth the coin.

For me, there was an accomplice there telling me I was too early and come back after dark...not sure why you didn't get him warning you, but try comin back after dark...like well past dusk even midnight...... is all I can recommend.

there is something wrong with that method on PC but I have heard of XBox players having an easier go of it.....well the one poster who mentiond it here Tunesmith said he did it on Xbox. I spent three hours trying to do it and the best i did was get two of the four at any given time....but three of the four I can confirm have been turned off at least once by me on PC. The fact that it is possible, but so incredibly difficult with an operator looming is maddening. YOu can sheath your sword in the safe spot behind each pillar in order to plan your attack. The gimme one is the one to the left of the door on the door side...the sweet spot is directly behind the pillar while looking directly at the pillar. The other one on that side is acquired slightly to the right of the pillar...but the rocks lying around your feet are maddening and force you out in the open to take hits from the operator while you throw your camera to look straight from overhead view and spinning around I got it to appear. The far wall ones were harder, I did get the one on the left side of the door while entering the room on the far side....I use a similar strategy to the 2nd one above although once it just appeared as I was looking directly at it from the side....couldn't re-create that though. I have never got the one of the far side on the right, but haven't tried much as I have not even had all of the first three confirmed ones all off together at the same time yet.

I had no problem turning them off. Took a couple minutes and some fidgeting but i got it done. The problem is is that it did nothing. The gargoyales still drop from the sky, and invisible rocks make it incredibly difficult to dodge fireballs and gargoyales without getting close to him and getting knocked down.

Just started playing the prologue today, and I am wondering if I might have somehow skipped things...

The beginning of the prologue started up just fine, walked around the battle encampment and all that. Had a chat with the king, and even fired a ballista and managed to hit the guy. I followed the King up the wooden tower and the game shifted back to the interrogation cell. I chose an option, not the assault one. And next thing I know I am at the To The Temple quest. I managed to skip the entire assault on the castle. Is that right? Did the dialogue option skip it for me or have I stumbled upon a glitch?

The flashback scenes you can play in any order. You'll have to play the assault part after you finish the flashback you chose. :)
