The Witcher 3: Is your system ready - Nvidia official system requirements

Don't know if it has been posted yet, but pcgh.de has an article online with some 1440p footage. They used a 290X and the framerate was around 50 with some drops to 40 on ultra settings (no hairworks). This is without the day one patch.

Thanks, good info on that link, this SS cracks me up though:

I'm not sure if I should buy this game for my laptop. I'm below the system requirements but I've never had any problems running modern games in high settings.

i5 4210U, GTX 850M, 8 GB.

Price is 29€. Should I give it a try?

These are a bit dry. If you had a 860m, I would have assumed it would have been ok to play the game on your laptop.
My suggestion, based on what we know of the requirements today, is that you play it rather on a console.

The best thing to do is to wait for some extensive benchmarks and then buy the game for the platform of your choice.
Will I be able to run it, guys?
I hope you get ploughed by Geralt in the heart.

I like how you have all that expensive hardware and the desktop icons are War3, Diablo 3, and Hearthstone.

I play CS: GO at 1280x1024. Lol. Plus you don't really need icons for Steam games. But yeah, 90% of my gaming is Hearthstone and Diablo 3. And Diablo 3 still drops to 30FPS in packed rifts. Lol.

True PC gamer. Take most expensive HW that is out there and then play older games with low resolution and low settings for locked FPS 200+ :D And not surprised about Diablo 3 performance, Blizzard engine runs on everything but not well on anything.

Well, the problem is I don't have a PS4/Xbox. And I don't really need one.

The thing is, in other multiplatformgames I get a performance between Xbox One and PS4 quality with some PC features but considering this is a massive open world title with extremly high system requirements its a little different this time. Guess I have to wait till Notebookcheck delivers some benchmarks

I'm really bummed I bought my GTX 970 at some crazy small mom and pop store that didnt include the Witcher/Batman codes.

i was hesitant on buying a new card but the deal of getting both games for free was what pushed me to get it, i got a 980, that should serve me well until the new cards are revealed next year

Yeah heaven forbid someone with a nice PC should play one of the all time great games. I still have Warcraft III on my desktop, haha.

Suppose I was looking for a gaming pc to run this game fairly well. Would a Alienware x51 be a good choice?

depends... pros with alienware is you can finance it and build up your credit. the x51 in particular goes great with a living room setup.

but with x51 you're dealing with limited wattage which severely restricts upgrades. i've got a 970 in there running fine, could probably get a 980 in there if i switched to a smaller fan. but the thing's future is reliant on how power efficient the next gen of cards are (and how small they are)

the higher priced models could handle witcher fine. but if you want to go balls out on settings you'll have to upgrade out of the box (the "best" card they're shipping with is a 960, at the moment)

I have an i7-4790k and a GTX 970 w/ 16 GB of RAM. Uber/Ultra should be good for me. Wonder If I can have the magical hair tech at 1080P.

These are my current settings:

Geforce GTX 760

Intel Core i5-4670K

8GB RAM

I'm considering the PS4 version, if it turns out the best I can pull off is a PS4-equivalent experience.

That said if there are certain components that are on sale that will guarantee a better performance, I'd like to hear them.

Got the exact same setup - was considering an upgrade to a 970 or 980 [if budget supports it], but concerned that the processor/ram might bottleneck. Any thoughts GAF?

Don't know whether to buy this on GOG or Steam.

Steam: buy it and forget it. Auto-updates, right there next to all my other games, very convenient.

GOG: cheaper, but then I gotta set up this stupid Galaxy thing and deal with that, if not I have to manually download patches, etc. I also have a much smaller GOG library, I like things all consolidated.

the galaxy client is very good, at least so far it has been, very user friendly and organized, i thought i was gonna hate it, i was ready to sell the code that came with my card and buy the game on steam and cut my loses but i decided to give it a shot before doing that and im glad i did

EDIT: the client also has auto game update, so that's nice

Have they said how big this Day 1 Patch will be?

Don't think so, but there's at least two patches already. Or rather the highest version I know of is 1.02 and 1.01 is required to play the game (it essentially unlocks it).
I think they're preparing another patch.

GMG hasn't issued the keys yet for anyone here have they? I'm still showing "No keys available until the game is released." I know the actual GMG store page says keys will be delivered prior to the release, just hoping they give us adequate time to preload.

Honestly, I'd go for PS4. We have no idea about SLI optimizations (atm) and how 'old' mobile GPUs are going to handle the game.

On paper your system is more powerfull then a PS4, but I would still recommend to buy the console version.

I appreciate it. The PS4 is tempting, but because I'm away from home a lot it would be nice to take this with me on my laptop. I will wait a little for some comparisons and drivers before making a final decision.

Not sure if this has been posted but the Nvidia Game Ready Driver for Wild Hunt is out.

Downloading now.

Feels good to have both on my PC. Wish I didn't have to work tonight.

Laptop bros report! I7 3660, 680m, 8gb. Looking forward to those sweet, sweet medium settings with a stupidly volatile frame rate.

Fuck it all, maybe I should just buy the ps4 version. Importing my save is the only reason I'm considering the PC atm.

Benchmarks are up. Looks like the new patch added a new higher graphical preset than the previous settings. I wonder if the Geforce Chart knew this was coming/take this into account.

Might have to lower my expectation of performance a bit. This looks rough.

Ouch, ~45 avg. framerate on a 970 with no hairworks or HBAO+. Looks like I'm gonna have to drop some settings to high from ultra to get that stable 60fps. Do we know what settings are particularly taxing?
