they honestly should just release a patch that fixed the xp bug then work on the rest. Do they really not realize people are not playing the game because of it?! smh
GAF may not represent majority of the gamers though

The xp bug wasn't known when reviews were made, was it even present?
And it may not even be as widespread as we think it is. Anecdotal I know, but I and the three people I know personally playing don't have it (I've played the least at 40 hours). And we'e not going to hear from people in threads like these who are playing the game without the bug as often as people complaining about it.
So while it is an issue that needs addressing, and even if it were present at launch, it may simply not be widespread enough for the reviewers to encounter it.
I know, I know. Just venting
how would I know what level I should be at? is there a list anywhere that shows how much xp you get. I'm a level 11 on broken flowers and I've done a ton of side quests. Does that sound right?
As others have speculated its entirely possible that the XP bug may not be fixed and it could be one of the reasons the patch is held up.
Ha, yeh, if the bug had hit me I'd probably be feeling like doing the same.
I'm not sure, I've probably taken a different route through the game than you.
I just met up Triss and finished the quest with the rats. About 20 minutes past that point. I'm level 12, I've done every side quest, story quest, and contract relevant to my level.
B&BB.
If that were the case, they should say so instead of sending out language that makes it sound like the XP fix has been long finished, but they were holding it out for the patch "around the corner."
Obviously people will still be upset, but it's far more understandable instead of the situation they caused for themselves with the messages they've been sending out so far.
If this PC patch lands exactly the same time as the consoles, the shitstorm will be quite vast and reaching. If not, I really really feel for the console players because it'll probably be another two weeks before they see any fixes.

I'm sure you would be totally fine if the patch came with a bug that corrupts your save files or something. That is probably why its taking longer.
The XP bug should have been priority #1,
The XP bug should have been priority #1, I haven't touched the game in like 4 days now. And guess what? ESO is coming out next tuesday, better hope I don't get hooked to it CDPR, and don't come back.
my ps4 copy is still sealed in its wrapping. if they don't get things running decent and the xp shit fixed in the next week ill be making a return.
It's too soon for you to be getting the bug anyway. It's coming, make no mistake.
You spent your money on the game already, why would they care if you come back. Money is in da bank already! The XP bug should have been priority #1, I haven't touched the game in like 4 days now. People have reported experiencing it earlier, actually.
And some have said it happened once, some have said it happened in every quest, some said they complete the game and it didn't happen at all.
It's not guaranteed to occur.

I would be insanely surprised if someone has had it happen to them on literally every quest or even enough to meaningfully impact leveling balance.
The overreactions to this are nuts.

What? Why would CDPR possibly care whether you're playing the game or not? They already have your money.

I bet it's the former. It's clear to me they are having trouble with the fix.
This.I got zero XP from two main story quests in a row; I'm not going to go keep playing for hours and hours just on the hopes that I might eventually get some XP. In my experience, 90% of the XP in the game comes from main quests, anyway. I've gone hours and hours without gaining a single level from sidequests, knowing that when I want some levels I can just play the main quests. You quite literally get 10-20 times more XP from a story quest.
I'm not interested in scraping by. I want to do all the quests and get all the XP so I can play around with new skill points and wear my sweet new armour and craft my awesome swords and shit, because this is an RPG.
It's just fucking annoying because we have no idea how big of an impact it is having or how long it's been hitting us. I posted in the OT, I seem to have gotten my missing XP back suddenly. Don't know if it's all of it or what. But, I did a bunch of main story stuff yesterday getting zero XP. I then did a random side mission and when I got my XP from it I jumped up from level 22 to 26. My only explanation is that it was missing XP suddenly flooding in.
Ugh, are we now really gonna have to wait 2 weeks for the patch for ps4? If so, that really really sucks. Maybe i should go back to Dragon age and slog through it, but after playing W3 that's gonna be super hard given the gulf in quality between those two titles.
Guess i can start clearing some ?'s though.
Been seeing posts like this and it really makes me want to take the chance it will fix itself eventually. But man, i'm playing on death march and i don't want to hit a brick-wall due to missing out on the main quest exp.
Has anyone just used any of the mods to add their XP back in manually. I would do this if it comes to it.. .problem is I don't want to over level. I just want to be exactly where i should be.
This is getting absolutely ridiculous. I've stopped doing any non grey quests but I really want to move on in the game. It's been far too long to let an issue like this go unfixed.
Sorry if already answered, I'm really not up-to-date lately. Is the XP Bug detailed somewhere and is it possible to avoid it?

I have had it happen on side quests as well.It triggers randomly, but it appears to be mostly affecting main quests.

Don't worry, it's just around the corner! =P.

It is sad to have to put down the game between now and the patch (it is so good, I jsut do not want to stop). But... alas, not much we can do.
A couple of people here are doing so and even I did for a bit, but looking up videos or information to find exact experience values is tiring and very annoying.
Strange how hard is fixing this bug. I mean, originally wasn't here, right? So latest patch should caused this, it should be easy detect what went bad and reverting it with a hotfix.

How hard is it to do? do you need the mod on at all times for the XP value to stay or is it just a one time deal type of thing? if anything I'll just level myself up to keep up with the current quests around me.
