The Witcher 3 PS4 gameplay

This game has more colours than the human eye can perceive. I can't even describe how impressed I am by the visuals of The Witcher 3. This is just a whole new visual experience.

How about how storms start to form in the distance?

Oh my lord that's such a cool little detail. In so many games it just starts raining. In rare circumstances we get slow drizzle before heavy rain (AC4,GTAV), i've never seen a game have a storm gather in the background realistically.

What is the cheapest DX 12 compatible graphics card that you guys think could run this well with a good processor / ram combo?

I like the look of this PS4 footage but pop in drives me absolutely nuts in open world games.

Describe "well"

Assuming you mean a nice bump over the PS4, the GTX 960. Assuming you mean 1080p mostly ultra at 60 FPS: GTX 970/GTX 780/780ti. Assuming you mean all the bells and whistles at 60 FPS 1080p, or most of the bells and most of the whistles at 1440p 60 FPS: GTX 980.

It also has more frames than the human eye can see, depending on who you ask.

I heard that only PS4 review copys was sent out and no Xbox one, is that true? must be BS right?

The only review copies that went out for consoles was PS4 and only for those with debug units. At least in the US. They do not expect full review code/copies till launch or near launch for most other sites.

This has started to ease my concerns about what the PC version will look like on a 760. Now I'm just concerned about whether my system can wrangle 60fps out of the game at any respectable graphics settings.

Oh man, I'm not surprised this looks good on the PS4 but way to go CDProject it looks great and I'm happy it looks like everyone is getting a great version of the game.

I am currently replaying TW2 on the 360 and this looks like such a quantum leap in every area.

This console gen is not even a big leap they said, and now look at what not having to hold the baseline at 360 gives you. If this is a small generational leap, that's pretty darn impressive now that the actual next gen games not held back by 7th gen(like this and Batman) are coming out

I think people get a bit too confused because of crossgen and legacy stuff not giving a real impression of higher fidelity.

Some really nice atmosphere in the Playstation Poland video. Love how the weather looks, love the trees and other foliage swaying in the wind. This is reaching Rockstar-levels as far as how the open-world looks.

Only unknown now is the frame rate. Just hoping it doesn't tank too bad during hectic battles.

Ew. The compression really kills those trees, blades of grass, grass patches, flowers, textures, HUD, pixels, kittens, baby Jesuses.
But the graphics look intact underneath, with some more pronounced foliage fade in.

Ok, thanks for the info.
xbox does not have debug units? weird that they didnt send the xbox version also

i only watched a little bit of the video just to get a feel of the combat and world, im liking this game more and more with every little bit of footage i allow myself to see

Yeah not sure, but that's just what Tom sent out since people were bombarding him with emaisl thinking the PS4 version was out for review, when in reality just a few debug copies for those limited debug system people.

Couldn't find Xbox one footag, but some impressions from that version here from the site dualshockers if anyone was curious.

Edit: for whatever reason the link isn't working, I apologize
Edit #2: I realize now I linked to a ban site, I'm sorry I didn't know.

I'm really impressed by the environments in this game (and all the little atmospheric details people are noting, such as storms forming in the distance, the variegation of light in the sky at sunset, etc.).

However, and sorry for being pedantic, but I don't understand the bolded statement above.

Like, do you mean that there are MORE colors being used than we can easily categorize and name?

Or, that you're seeing shades that you don't think you've ever seen before? Like, even more than on the paint sample leaflets at Home Depot?

Or do you actually think it has ultraviolet/infrared light elements beyond the human visual spectrum? (which presumably most monitors could not display)

Or is this just tongue in cheek hyperbole for: There are a lot of pretty colors!

Or perhaps some other subtle flavor of hype that is beyond my (limited) human perception?

Don't mean this to be combative at all -- I just sometimes have trouble parsing gaf-hype-speak!

I really hope DF does a proper comparison on this game before launch! I'm still pissed that they didn't do one for Dragon Age.

It's just more than blue and orange, I guess.

as it looks like now, no XBOX one review copies out...game released in less than 13 days... doubt they get it in time to do it pre release :(

I hate this too.

I think it was just intentional hyperbole. Lol.

Review copies ARE out, but only the PS4 copy that only works on debug consoles.

yeah sorry, meant that its not any Xbox review copies out yet. so no DF PS4 vs Xbox one article most probably before release.

Reason why no Xbox debug review copies? MS not feeling they want to get negative feedback ? ;)

Super stoked to play this on PS4! My first Witcher game! I'm entirely avoiding video footage so that I go in fresh. Can someone compare how it looks to Assassin's Creed Unity? That's the game that has impressed me the most graphically and blew me away. Not in terms of something like framerate, but how it looks. Curious how good we're talking for Witcher 3.
