The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - E3 2014 Trailer - The Sword Of Destiny

Only Witcher game I played was like 30 minutes of the 2nd game.....but I want to play this so bad. I can't even explain why. It's almost like I want to watch it in a way, it looks so cinematic and interesting.

Probably best to at least play TW2, but it seems like they're making TW3 newcomer-friendly with at least the included compendium. And I'm sure things will be explained.

There is that booklet that comes with Witcher 3 that explains what has happened. But to get the most out of it, I would definitely play Witcher 2 at least. 1 is probably passable

Witcher 2 had big codex entries on everything, so you could more easily understand the Witcher's setting. The two games are connected and related, but the events of both games are largely self-contained, with only a few cameos or references between the two. I see no reason why the Witcher 3 will be any dfiferent.

I would recommend playing all three, but it is in no way a requirement.

Uh... #TeamJennifer ? :x

Like others have said, it might be best to play the Witcher 2 first. Still a great game, usually on sale for $4-5 on PC. That being said the Dev's have always been good with making the games approachable. It's got a nice journal that reminds me a lot of the codex stuff in Mass Effect. You talk to an npc, discover a new area? detailed journal entries are updated. Sure that may not be for everyone but they have always been good for leaving the option there for people that want to learn more.

I see. Thank you!

I suppose it's time to finally power through W2...

I just hope they'll do some kind of interactive comic intro similar to mass effect in case you don't have a Witcher 2 save

That trailer makes me wish several things

1) That the game was out now, or that I could fast forward my life to February.

2) That Ciri would have been a playable character, because damn.

3) That my PC was about 10 times as good as it, in reality, is.

Job done, CDPR. I will be presenting you with my hard-earned.

Today we got a look at the third trailer for the witcher 3 wild hunt. We hope you liked it!

There's much more to the game that it's just impossible to show everything within two and a half minutes.
Most importantly, we showed you a preview of our main characters:

Geralt's close friends and some of the last witchers remaining in the world. Vesemir, Eskel, and Lambert will play a big part in the game, as well as their famous fortress, Kaer Morhen.
You also got a glimpse of the renowned bard Dandelion and the sorceress, Triss Merigold.
Emhyr Var Emhyreis, Emperor of Nilfgaard, the most powerful man in the world of the Witcher also made an appearance. Recognise his voice?
And then there was Ciri!
And Yennefer!

By the way, if you're new to the series, don't worry, the game will provide you all the information you need to know, and you'll start loving (and battling) characters in no time!

Also you've been asking many questions about gameplay features and we're finally ready to answer some of them:

Yes, you will be able to fight on horseback.
The crossbow. Yup, Geralt has a ranged weapon. Because monsters fly and you can't stab them.
Remember swimming and sailing? You'll be able to dive and search for a lot of hidden stuff too. There's a whole underwater world to discover.
Horse racing anyone?

You also got to hear more music from the game. This particular track was composed by Marcin Przybyłowicz. We'd love to hear your feedback on our forums, facebook, or twitter etc.

P.S. If you still waiting for more, please be patient, we're just warming up!"

I wanna know if the physical version gives a free GOG copy before I get the digital version cus I would feel boned if I got it and that was the case

Well this is one of the best game trailers I've ever seen. So much hype... It is good that I have a half year to build new PC...

I just finally rewatched the trailer in gamersyded version on my 55" plasma and it is simply mindblowing. Had to rewatch it again and stop at all the scenes just taking them in :)

That's a relief. All of this sounds wonderful. Underwater world? Yes please.

Thanks for grabbing the secret note in the trailer, I always forget about those! (Such an awesome thing for them to do.)

That's where TW1 starts, right? It's been a while, don't quite remember.

Yes; that place is Kaer Morhen, home of the witcher group Geralt is a part of. And it is where the Witcher 1 begins.

Feb 2015 can't come soon enough....Looks like 2015 is when I'll be putting together a new PC. Can't believe my current build will have lasted 7 years.

Who else has a Witcher 1 flashback when seeing this?
Some of us commented about it:
It is back then (Witcher 1) where we first heard that Wild hunt is coming, and nothing would stop it. How about that for foreshadowing?

Yes. Re-learning to fight, along with the other witchers on the remains of Kaer Morhen.
Impressive how far CD Projekt has grown since then.

Game looks amazing and I want to play this despite the fact that I could not get past the horrible unintuitive tutorial in Witcher 2.

Unreal...just unreal. Even in this short, amazing trailer you can tell that they've really raised the bar. One of my favorite devs forever!
