The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt - E3 2014 Trailer - The Sword Of Destiny

I thought the youtube trailer looked insane but then I watched gamersydes version and...can we ban youtube for all game trailers already? It makes a mockery of this masterpiece.
for real, Youtube needs to be revamped with some Pied Piper compression, or something.

Wow, I can't believe a PS4 game looks this good.

It looks like Geralt has aged 5-10 years since the last game, yet Triss still looks 22.

How old is Yennefer supposed to be? She looks way too young as well.

C'mon CDPR.

At what resolution? 780Ti is a great GPU... but I will believe it when I see it. I'm going to delay my next GPU upgrade until AFTER this game launches.

The rumor says 1080p.

Considering it's using 8xMSAA and they're not even at the optimization stage, that would be pretty good if true imo.

I might get decent results with a 680 and SMAA/FXAA, after all.

The engine is Forward+ so MSAA should not tank the framerate like it does in Deferred engines (Frostbyte, Cryengine...)

Funny thing I noticed in the trailer.

The throneroom where Geralt meets Emhyr var Emreis is not in Nilfgaard, it's the throneroom in Vizima.

Exactly what I'm waiting for. My 560tis are showing their age. Bring on the 880s Nvidia!

Yeah, I only have one 570 (slighty overclocked) and it's still going strong but I want to play this in all of its glory.
I'm still going to go with the 870, so the earlier nVidia releases them, the faster the price will lower.

Apparently a 780Ti can max it out at 30-45fps, but I'm not sure if that's true or if it includes all the hair stuff. Regardless if there is stuff like Ubersampling I hope they label it as 'for future computers' or something, so people won't get pissed they can't run it. And so people from the future can feel good turning that stuff on at 120fps at 4k.
Holy shit. I honestly believed they were running the game on quad titans or something equally insane. That also means my PC will be able to run this game looking like the trailer at close to 60fps! Yay!

Really? That's interesting. I always wondered why MSAA was so much more demanding on more recent games, I just assumed it was because of the level of detail of those games.

Do you have any idea of how big of a difference it makes compared or is it too game specific to know?

I hope there's an option to turn off the UI. One of the things I noticed about pretty much all these games is frequently the UI is completely unnecessary. This is actually true for a lot of games and I'm weirded out by not having those options.

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
This will absolutely be the game that gets me to replace my Titan.

Or... *shudder*... go back to SLI :-/

Looks like someone did not do his homework. Sorceresses of this universe use magic to look super young and gorgeous.
The reason why Geralt looks more aged is because of the beard.

It's less of a hit than in deferred engines, but it's still not free, specially at 8x.

Also, Is this the first AAA game with a forward+ engine in like a decade?

EDIT: Forward+ is not forward rendering, just figured that out. IS this the first forward+ engine we've seen, or have there been other games using the technique?

It looks like Forward + nets you all the benefits fo a forward rendering engine AND a deferred one.

No wonder this game looks so god damn amazing.

I was wondering that myself as well. If it wasn't he sounds a lot like him.

Just watched the trailer in 1080p60 goodness on gamersyde, OMG

Yep, it's Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister).

Imagine a Game of Thrones game similar to The Witcher 3 set during the era of Rhaegar Targaryen and Robert Baratheon in his prime.

MSAA on Deferred engines in heavier than on Forward engines, but I don't have any direct comparison, it depends on the game really.

It's not free by any means but with a deferred engine it would be worse. :lol

The Order also uses Forward+ (hence MSAAx4). And I think these two should be the first games to use it, Forward+ it's different than "simple" Forward.

Bwahaha, I hadn't even noticed that the new CDPR logo bird is in the video when they fly upwards over the town.

Anyway, preordered on GOG, even if I won't be able to play it... probably. Still stalling on a new GPU.

Psyched! The Order also looks pretty amazing.

Hopefully we'll see more games using this.

gave away the keys to the kingdom.
for being physX dedicated card :D

I've been toying with the idea of keeping my generic-brand 670 for PhysX when I upgrade. I'll still be able to sell my EVGA one for a fair amount due to the lifetime warranty, and for this reason I'm also going to go with EVGA for my 870s. The only potential problem is that 4x may not be enough for the 670 to perform dutifully, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

No bald cap? Lies!
Definitely holding out to build my new PC until next Feb so I can destroy this game.

I'm sure my i7 920, 6gb ram and 7950 can hold out for then. I probably won't be able to max out DAI this fall but it's more than enough for Divinity OS, Pillars of Eternity and Wasteland 2 and whatever else there is. God that's a lot of games, thank god I don't have a life to distract me.

Witcher 2 did end with an imminent Nilfgaardian invasion, and the northern kingdoms weren't exactly in a position to defend themselves. Good catch though.

If I buy the GOG version, do I get a Steam key too?

Care to explain?

Horribly optimized, stuttering, more expensive than buying a single stronger card and RAM is not shared between the cards.

I haven't had good experiences with SLI and most of the time now I just turn it off. A waste of a 2nd card sitting in my PC.

With all this CDProjekt talk, I can't help but think of their next game
2026827-672376_20130205_001.jpg

It'll probably get delayed to 2016 too :(

I remember when this was announced thinking 2015 is so far away. Sad to see that it's most likely now a 2016 title. I hope we get some actual gameplay soon though.
