The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone |OT| Heroes of Gwent

Does it make sense to buy and install the add on before finishing the main game? Or are the gameplay changes only appear in Hearts of Stone?

I was wondering about a specific item from the auction and if it is bugged for me.

Count Romilly's figurine. Can't seem to do anything with it, yet you are supposed to break it open? It says part of a quest and it isn't even in the quest section of the inventory.

Old save loaded up and ready to go. I'll mis my Gwent deck and my better potions, but I'll save 'em for when I finally continue my replay.

it weaves into the main game just like any other quest, only reason to finish main quest first is that you'd likely be overleveled for it after HoS

First boss beaten after 3rd try, I think it was great. CDPR clearly listened to complaints about boss battles (and combat in general) being too easy and generic in the base game, I had to actually "witcher" this one a bit and use some equipment and tactics I've never really used before instead of just powering through with Quen and fast attack spam. Aformentioned spiders in a cave also fight completely different than other enemies in the game, not to mention they were utterly creepy.

CDPR is learning about combat mechanics. The end of other RPG studios is nigh.

Um.

The first boss is beatable but not with any strategy that's not tedious as hell. Just terrible design.

I found it fairly straight forward..
Roll behind him, and attack from behind, keep moving left or right while behind him and attacking to avoid his counters. If you have a bomb that can freeze him, i.e. North, you can drain a quarter of its health before your next attack.

Really digging the tougher encounters, boss battles, wildlife and bandits.

Can somebody please help me?

I bought the game on release (on disc). Bought the season pass too (code). My Xbox account says I redeemed the code on 19/05/2015.

But when I attempt to download this new DLC it looks like I'm going to be charged £7.99. Where do I download it from for "free"?

It's pretty nice to have high level content again, I've been just one step from death multiple times, and I didn't even started the main quest of the expansion.

Boars and spiders are fun to fight against.

The game is awesome as always, even the tertiary content like some of the treasures chests have nice lore like
Redanian Air Force, lol, or the golem of Witcher 1 swamps appearing again.

What are you talking about? What does Destiny have to do with The Witcher or CD Projekt?

Not all DLC is created equal. DLC is not inherently a bad thing, in fact it's often good.

Seems ridiculous to swear off DLC after one bad experience. Read reviews, watch some footage. There are enough resources out there to determine if it's worth it.

I just bought the Expansion Pass. 30 hours for 24,99€ sounds fair, let's hope the content is as good as the main game.

Has anybody had any problem with the Expansion Pass or is it just me?

I'm having a lot of trouble with the fight right after the events of the first boss.
I'm at the beach battle with the mage. Any ideas on how to even get close to the fucker?

So I've got the gwent decks and I've also got the Xbox gwent decks from the special edition, so I've got all four now but...the two sets of decks seem to be slightly different to each other.

The decks from the Xbox Special Edition are in a box and are longer and slightly thinner than the two new decks. Bit annoying.

Firstly, move as far away from him as you can to put you out of range of his attacks. His companions will follow you, keeping that distance will make it easy to deal with them. Now sprint toward the mage, you may need to roll toward him when you get really close, and then get in as many swings as you can before he teleports to a different spot, rinse and repeat.

so I just booted up my game for the first time in months and It's entirely too bright,.. this is such a weird issue. Everything is blindingly white. Turning the gamma doesn't help.

anyone know a fix?

How do I access the expansion on PS4, having purchased the expansion pack?

The Store page for the expansion has no download button, and nothing was set to download automatically. I also don't see an ingame option to download anything.

Or is it just not out yet in EU?

I had to go into the related items bit of the store to actually find it. It never auto downloaded or anything for me either. For some stupid reason it seems you could only preload it if you bought the expansion separately, anyone who bought the EU season pass had to wait till it actually unlocked before they were able to download.

Anyone find the new Runewords or w/e they're called useful? I just blew my money on upgrading it, and looking at the highest level runes, some of the effects are interesting but don't seem really necessary to use, and others I'm confused about their usefulness.

They all look like something that might be very useful if I was intelligent enough to come up with a build based around them. But I'm not, so I'm not exactly thrilled about any of them.

So most of you here have finished the base game main story, right? I'm still working through it, but when I get to the appropriate level can I start the expansion and still play the base game, or will I need to finish the expansion before I can continue the main game's story?

you can do whatever you want, expansion content has a blue sign next to it in the quest journal, that's it

Surprised that so many people are having trouble with the first boss. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty at lvl 35 and I melted it in like 15 seconds with Whirl (the hold fast attack button skill). The fire runes on my sword kept it stun locked the entire time lol. This was my strategy in the base game for pretty much everything that didn't have a shield. Guess it still works :P

I have a lot of trouble playing this right after mad max, can't dodge on R1 fuck this is X here haha, same for blocks not triangle but R2... Same for markers on map... etc...

Then I find a random camp with bandits from the order of the flaming rose or something, the guy yells at me :

" I live, I die, then I live again "

I'm like, what, did I just heard that ?

and he swing his sword at me :

" witness me "

waaaaaat

Your GAF username is strangely appropriate with your post.

Selfie with the tarantula, those things are creepy and fast but if you stun lock them in the fast attack spin move it's pretty hilarious and easy.
That Drakenborg Redemption quest, I got the
chest, yet the quest journal didn't change
, anyone knows how to fix that?

Man, I am disappointed with the runewords and glyphwords in how they replace your current runes/glyphs. The Words should have been in addition to your current runes and glyphs =/

Anyway. It's lovely to have some content again for the Witcher 3. I am liking the new enemies, as figuring out ways to deal with new enemies is always fun. Also, the game is just as gorgeous. It's great to be back in the world of the Witcher, back on the path. :D

Didn't take a hit of Cat before you saved, did you?

Is it white on the menu also? Can you take a screenshot?

But you can try removing all the mods if you have any, deleting all the config files.

This is also possible, after months you may forget that's what it does.

Holy fuck, I think I had a cat pot activated. Would that have caused the brightness to be so ridiculous looking? It was almost blinding.

edit: yup. I really need to learn how to play again. thanks guys
