explain what? I JUST got to her, youre thinking of someone else
I would NEVER

Several hours in, and I've only just realised that this isn't a true open world in the style of the Elder Scrolls games, but lots of big sections like Dragon Age 3.

My fault for assuming the former I suppose, but I can't help being a bit disappointed. I was looking forward to making huge treks across the map later in the game!
*chuckles*
The two main maps are big enough, believe it.

About Jenny:

Cast the trap as she approaches. When she enters she should appear more solid (on PC at least, not sure if that level of animation/effect is present on consoles). Dodge her lunge, then attack three times and roll away. Repeat until she screams, ready to produce shades of herself that will siphon your life - at that point break away and run out of distance. Repeat. Maybe add some +silver crossbow pop shots in there as she often flutters about directionless after you break away.

One person told me they defeated her by quickly attacking her shades, but that never worked for me: they just sucked my health for a second or two and her health bar went back to 100%.

I highly recommend Yrden. It is very useful for crowd control and the alternate form of it can deal a good amount of damage while you can be off causing other mayhem simultaneously.

yeah I've been doing yrden cause I like the zapper doing decent damage and keeping some back, then I use my flamethrower version of igni and set everyone on fire, then slice anyone that's still alive as the run around in flames.

I just entered oxenford for the first time, and what is the first thing I do? Search for merchants to play Gwent with....... I have a problem don't I?

Yep, Gwent sucks. Possible side quest spoiler?
Trying to get the rare cards for Zoltan and one part bets the life of a man and a card on a game of gwent.... I can already see that I'm going to have to reload my save over a million times to save the poor guy -_-

lol the best is when you have a serious convo with a character or time is urgent, or by the way, round of gwent?

what happens if you lose? I beat him, but it still results in a fight cause he's a sore loser. I imagine you can just lose and fight him for the card.

Anyone running a signs build? I'm focusing on Igni and Quen and now that I'm over the initially difficulty curve it's getting pretty satisfying.

I'm trying to get to a point where I can spec appropriately, but I'm only lvl 14. Currently I have Quen & Axnii lvl 3 upgrades on. I'd like to put 1 point into Axii's alternate and 3 points into Quens's alternate. Then top those off with a 3 points into "Fire" (forgot the name) alternate.

That's 5 slots dedicated to signs out of what, possibly 12?

And speaking of specs, where can the respec potion be bought after
completing Keira's quest line
?

LOL,
I told them I didn't give two shits about that guy, I believe he was a thief afterall, so they pulled out swords and I slaughtered them. No Gwent needed.

Question about "Public Enemy" quest:

When I found the crystal in Filippa's hideout Geralt said something about "Triss knowing what to do with it", but I've already did Triss' side-story and she's gone to Kaer Mohren. Should I give the crystal to Radovid or can I still give it to Triss later on?

For those of you who love the Ciri sections, on PC you can enable the console and then play as Ciri whenever you want.

Consoles put those kinds of limitations on games. That said, the two main maps are massive *and* super detailed which is something Elder Scrolls and DA3 will never be able to claim.

Spectre oil also makes it really easy to take her down. Traps + Spectre oil = win

Anyone else spend way too much trying to take down high level Monster? At level 5 took on grave hag, 1 hit kill for me and did so little damage I think it took 30 mins to take down, not including all those retries. Now I find myself running away from things a lot....

skyrim is one zone in this game, I'd wager

Oh boy, how naive of me to think that I could romance both Triss and Yen at the same time... so burned! Kudos to CDPR though, not every game would do that : )

You're still playing the tutorial level. You'll be back going "holy shit wtf" in a few hours.

Consoles put those kinds of limitations on games.
No, they don't. Consoles limit what you can have on screen at one time, not how large the map can be in total. The game doesn't have to fetch data from Novigrad if you're exploring Fyke Isle.

Besides, CDPR simply like this game structure, considering they've used it in all their games so far. (I think? I didn't actually play W1 yet.)

Nah I'm completly the same I play on Death March and constantly challenge myself with higher witcher contracts or monster levels, often have to repair my silver sword after a High level Witcher Contract just because I was hitting it for so long!

Two of the areas are bigger than most entire open world games. You'll be doing plenty of long treks through different types of areas.

I'd like to know this too, though maybe the order of quests has something to do with it.

I suck at this game and am convinced I must not be getting it. I am playing it on the second easiest victory, but regularly get my ass kicked by big enemies. It seems like any hit just takes massive amounts of health.

In otherwords, I feel like I am playing Dark Souls.

I don't think the game is supposed to be this hard, but I am just not quite playing it the way it is meant to be played.

Any tips? I just finally took down the griffin after 50 tries. Bastard just ate my health like no other.

Level 2

I can second the recommendation about Quen. It's all about Quen. I was using Igni and other things and would always lose tons of health and die often. Once I started using Quen it was a game-changer for me. Build up at least the base level Quen and make sure it's activated in your skill tree. Charge it up before you go into battle and recharge it again once you're able to.

I kind of wish the DLC was a bit more descriptive. I've just downloaded the Yennefer and Missing Miner DLC and basically have no idea how to use any of it. Does Yennefer change by herself or do I have to enable it?

And the mission? I'm just supposed to stumble across it I take it? As it didn't add to my quest list. At least this one gives you a hint to its location.

Kind of frustrating.

Nah the only reason they didn't go for one open world is because Skellige and Velen are separated by sea. Either geographically unbelievable close to eachother or a realtime trek of 2 hours by boat were the options for one map. So logically they chose fast travel.

I mean the Yen one is pretty easy to find, it adds a 'downloadable content' tab to your main menu, also the description says the miner one is in skillege, it might light up a bounty board in the town it's in?

Man I hate it how many of the shop icons and whatnot disappear from the map unless you're near them.
Trying to find that one specific shop in Novigrad when you have no idea where it's located is pure hell.

Look for yellow notice boards on your map. This one shows up on Blandare's board.

It's like Inquisition if Inquisition was primarily confined to two maps each borderlining on the size of Skyrim.

This is what really gets me. They didn't even need Skellige.

I agree, would have been great if you could at least make notes on the world map, that way you could mark all the gwent players you beat and which city offers the best loving.

Yeah, the "it's not an open world" stuff is a little much when the "zones" are so gargantuan.

If this ain't an open world, what is?

It's not "lots" of big sections. Velen/Novigrad are on the same map and it gives Skyrim's area a run for its money on its own. Skellige is huge too. You make plenty of huge treks in this game.

I didn't want him to die so I played the guy. Thankfully only had to reload once

That is what scares me...since I'm nearing 40 hours just in Velen already, and have a million contracts and quests to do still. I keep hearing that Skellige is just as packed with content and I'm in awe of that.

Frost is your friend. Though if you can't draw frost you're pretty much screwed. The best you can do is to bait the opponent into wasting all their cards.

That's what bugs me. If I don't draw frost, I'm done. I guess it'll get better once I'm not playing with Geralt's base northern realm deck for the most part.

Ah plough me. Patch on ps4 didn't fix my dialogue glitch where one character refuses to initiate conversation with me where everybody else can. Guess I gotta keep waiting.

I'm amazed at the Gwent love. I've played two match, the first tutorial and some random match. I was destroyed in the second match and thought "meh, forget this mini-game".

I'll give it an honest try in my second play-through.
