The Wonderful 101 had Platinum's biggest team size and their longest dev cycle

Wonder if they're even using the touch screen. The demo was way more intuitive with that versus the right stick.

I disagree. You would surprised how easy it is to do some of the moves with the stick. Don't know all the shapes though. The gun and sword were easy to do.

When Nintendo inevitably announce Wonder Red for Smash tomorrow, pre-orders are gonna skyrocket. ;)

Seriously, this is be the best marketing the game could get in my opinion. And call me optimistic, but I think it's gonna happen...! We'll see.

Cool, we'll finally get Viewtiful Joe in Smash.

Seriously though, he could be a hell of a character.

Take my money !
Hope its gonna be a success, we need more Platinum games on WiiU !

Now that the game is over, most of the team must be working on Bayonetta2.

That would be wonderful.

I think this game will do decently. Wow at everyone looking for this to BOMB!!

Of course Nintendo and Platinum want it to sell, but Nintendo funded this and Bayo 2 to expand the Wii U library, worst case it does not sell, but in the end the Wii U ends up more attractive to the hardcore gamers.

Uh, to be honest, the issue isn't really bad games. Most games on the console are of pretty good quality, it's more the lack of games post launch.

I probably could have qualified that statement a bit better than I did. I will say though that Pikmin 3, this, Bayo 2, and that Monolith game are the only things I've really been interested in. Maybe Smash :p

For whatever reason, gamers are more into Schadenfreude-ing Nintendo than supporting one of their favorite developers. I'll never be able to wrap my head around it.

I know right? I hope this game pulls a Viewtiful Joe and sells out. Not the seemingly fake 2nd sell out either.

I'm glad The Guardian leaked their super glowing review. It's like Zombi U in reverse, with GameSpot that broke the NDA a day early and killed all hype with their 4/10 score. Hype is safe this time, the game has its chance :)

This makes so much sense I'm going to be disappointed if it doesn't happen now. It would totally make me want you get the new Smash (never been a huge fan in the past).

who buys a console for one game

People bought 360's for just halo, people bought PS3's just for GOW III. Countless Wii's were bought for just Wii Sports. Hell, we got people now who buy mostly only sports games or CoD once a year. Its far more common practice than you think.

Yeah, I think it's pretty common for people. I got a 3DS only once SM3DL came out.

The fact is that Smash will release no earlier than 2014, so that may make the IP known to mainstream public in the case of a W101 sequel, not to help with the sales right now.

it will bomb sales wise. not to be mean, but there's not a lot of wii u's out there in a wild and this game doesn't look like the game that would have people flocking to stores to buy it.

i'm on the fence about it. i still don't really know wtf it is. it's so niche though. maybe i'll just rent it.

There are 3M+ of WiiU out there, most of its owners being game enthusiasts (casuals still don't know what the F a Wii U is). If there's a WiiU game for that public I'd say this is it. On that light 1M of sales doesn't seem that unlikely, which IMO should make the game anything but a bomb...

To say "it WILL bomb" is mean. 'Cause you don't know this, and all it does is spread negative vibes.

It's tough to say how well this game will sell. There's nothing like it. The Wii U userbase is around 3.5m and some people are buying one just for this game.

This is the first game that really uses the gamepad in all sorts of ways. That will appeal to a lot of wii u users to play a game that justifies the gamepad. This is a new IP, with fresh gameplay mechanics that really use the gamepad. So its tough to say if it's niche.

Is there not any titles that become good sellers that could be considered niche before they were released?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not guaranteeing this will sell really good. I'm just saying, lets wait and see before we make conclusions.

This title could also have good legs with sales down the road since there's nothing else like it and its uses of the gamepad.

Slightly offtopic: I bought Vanquish yesterday. I'll be trying it this afternoon after work. I loved Bayonetta ofcourse and I just finished Max Payne 3. I'm really in the hard-action shooter game mood right now and I want more of that so is Vanquish going to satisfy my needs?
