Awesome anthem as usual.

I guess we'll see what happens next. Feels pretty boring compared to the London opening ceremony. Maybe I'm too Westernized.

This won't be any fun unless I get to see Putin pissed off at various points throughout the ceremony

there needs to be a separate "Putin cam"

Well the winter Olympics are a bit smaller than the summer Olympics, so keep that in mind. Also the Beijing opening was the best thing ever so non western countries have no excuse :p

Beijing were crazy accurate in their formations, and there were 10 times the amount of people involved.

Ron MacLean (CBC broadcast) was waiting to dish out that ring pun.

"The snowflake didn't make it, but that anthem sure did have a nice ring to it."

I was just like "Woah" at the color spectrum appearing on the globe projection for a second there, lol.

Yeah, it was great how they showed all the various peoples of China in their native dress that they've tried so hard to marginalize and eradicate.

I know the athletes sit there, but it's not good visuals with the empty seats there. Seems like an easy problem to fix with all that they spent

What the... that's it? I remember the London opening ceremony taking at least an hour or something before the athletes entered. Or am I mistaken?

I laughed when that guy wearing red noticed he was in the wrong formation and starting running for his life. :lol

So many empty seats in that front on camera shot. Director shouldn't be using that view ever again.

Stopped by my parents house and saw the first 20 minutes of opening ceremonies on CBC HD.

Tried to stream it at work, but it's blocked in the US. So we actually get the Vancouver affiliate on Comcast in Seattle, but can't watch online. Figures.

They may have shifted the program compared to many ceremonies -- usually athletes come in later but it's already happening so probably more theatrics after. In the stands are seats for the athletes.

There's more after the athletes enter, the athletes get to watch most of the ceremony.

Seems the athlete march is early this time, so I guess they must've planned for the event to have a shorter introduction before that, so it isn't noticeable for the rest of the night.

Hah, now you know how we feel about your Hulus and stuff. :P

Region locked streaming is bullshit imho.
