[TheGhostOfHope] Microsoft demands changes to COD, nothing off the table including studio mergers and a complete monetization rethink

I can speak from my 15 odd years of experience in media. Reeks of it in all honesty. If it was a complete lie, there's no need to wake up an entire PR department and conclude an entire PR-speak statement.

Truth is usually somewhere in the middle. I'd bet there's a lot of movements behind the scenes, but they are not so radical. Yet.

leadership across both teams are "completely aligned on investing in the future of Call of Duty and innovating for the community."The Call of Duty team is moving forward with full Xbox support.
Translation: Leadership is fucking clueless what to do but big daddy came by and the job is really good, pay is great, so leadership will agree to anything.

So before BO7 leadership was not "completely aligned"?

Raise your hand if you just knew this would happen. Seriously Microsoft should have just bought EA and it would have been long dead by now.

after BF6 recovered some of it's userbase by going back to basics, it would be very stupid from microsoft to double down on monetization shit.

this being said, COD is sucha staple franchise that would likely survive even the worst misuse of the brand.

"Microsoft wants to see Call of Duty overall move towards a smoother revenue stream"

Doesn't Warzone provide plenty of "monetization" nickel and diming everyone with their monetization? They want yearly COD to do more of the same? there isn't an overlap in players?

And what they're implying with "reduced expenditure pattern" is this about dev cycles? mtx?
They want them to make more money while spending less to achieve that goal. It is classic executive speak for I have no clue how to fix this but it needs to be fixed because it is going downhill.
