there seems to be a lot of games about bug killing recently

Deep Rock Galactic
Warhammer 40k Space Marine 2
Helldivers 2
Earth Defense Force 6
Pikmin 4

What do all 5 have in common?
That's right.
You murder hordes of insects, or aliens modeled after insects.
It's a recent trend in modern games compounded by the major success of the first 3 titles listed.

Personally, I'm all for it. I hate bugs. They're icky and scary. Have you seen a flying cockroach (or waterbug)?

Absolutely disgusting, and a terrifying experience should you encounter one. We could use more bug killing games.

All games are about killing bug, at least from the developer's point of view (Unless you're Bethesda, then it's about birthing bugs and letting them multiply and prosper).

More people should give the EDF games a try. Sure they look like a bargain-bin PS3 game but fuck me if they aren't some of the most fun and addicting games I've played.

Would also love for a sequel to Jet Force Gemini, but I don't think that'll ever happen and it's probably for the best.

Fuck you forever! :goog_relieved:

Dude, why? I was way better without knowing such a thing exists in this world.

I actually haven't. I've read a mech visual novel recently though (Muv-Luv/Muv Luv Alternative) and a lot of the fans there also like EDF so i figured it was worth a mention.

Although EDF sounds like it'd be up my alley.

Mushihimesama I was also going to mention, but that game is not recent by any standard (2004) and most people aren't into shmups. still a beautiful game though.

None of them can touch the OG:

Now that we found out that russians are not much to be afraid of we needed a new enemy.
I believe that studios turned to the documentary Starship Troopers to battle another faceless and unforgiving enemy.
