9-11 years? Please tell me you installed Linux, no Mac can be safely daylied for that long under MacOS, they have like a 7 year life span.
Not every ThinkPad (and, there are many, many to choose from) is made of equal quality, unfortunately, where as Apple only has to design two notebooks (MacBook Air and Pro).
I would argue Lenovo's T series is superior to Apple's build quality in some aspects, while not as refined and chiseled as Apple's machines, what it lacks in refinement it more than makes up for in durability for use outside of Starbucks. And any ThinkPad keyboard is far superior to anything Apple has to offer, even on their desktops. Apple's track pad is pretty hard to beat, though, but I don't remember the last time I used a trackpad. If Apple added a TrackPoint to their notebooks I would be there day one.
I don't have much experience with IBM ThinkPads, but according to r/ThinkPad the only thing that's changed is the keyboard, with most people preferring the old 7-row over the new chiclet style that Lenovo introduced. I use both, and love both equally.I used to borrow my dads neglected Thinkpad to play games like X-Wing Alliance and AoE. I think it's cool that they look exactly the same today and still have the red mouse nub.
But that's it, I never used one again lol. Also my skepticism blew through the roof over the whole Lenovo thing.
Yeah E series' have the most plastic on them but it's high quality plastic, enjoy, it's gonna last a long time.I finally got one.
Didn't even had any expectation considering it's an E series but i am very surprised how robust it is and how good the laptop feels.

You can never have enough ThinkPads LOL.
I run Kali, FreeBSD and Windows. They're all for cybersecurity related work.
T480's are arguably the GOATs for good reason, they're great, I have 3 and one T480s but 227 Euro is too much, you can buy an i5 on eBay for much less and upgrade to 32gb RAM, 512gb SSD for around 220 Euros. Definitely recommend the i5 over i7, i7 runs hotter, drains the battery quicker and isn't noticeably faster than an i5 in everyday tasks. There is one store that sells refurbished laptops and they have this T480 model for 227 euros.

Easily doable on Linux, no app needed, but I'm guessing you're on Windows?I think I uninstalled a lot of bloatware when I got my ThinkPad and Lenovo Vantage might have gone out too at the time. I've been a bit peeved that it doesn't have that cool Stop-Charging-At-80% thing. But I now saw that it does have that if you have the app.

I think my battery health would have been even better had I had it enabled from start, but better late than never.
Heh, on Windows? ... Yes, yes I am...Easily doable on Linux, no app needed, but I'm guessing you're on Windows?
It's only the recent ThinkPad X9 that doesn't have a TrackPoint (red nipple), it's just a one off, I seriously doubt other ThinkPads going forward will remove the TrackPoint. The backlash has been through the roof. On another note I would pay a lot of money for a ThinkPad with that Butterfly keyboard, an engineering marvel that was.![]()
Thinkpads are great even though they are removing the red nipple. Other Lenovo laptops are garbage though.
