New Japanese trailer, with a bit of new footage:

Also, some early reviews:

Shrewdly calculated down the the smallest detail in terms of its appeal factor, this smartly dressed package injects a traditional fairy tale, Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen, with enough contemporary attitudes and female empowerment touches to please both little girls and their moms. Energetic, humorous and not too cloying, as well as the first Hollywood film in many years to warn of global cooling rather than warming, this tuneful toon upgrades what has been a lackluster year for big studio animated fare and, beginning with its Thanksgiving opening, should live up to box-office expectations as one of the studio's hoped-for holiday-spanning blockbusters.

But this always enjoyable tale of mysterious magic, imperiled princesses and square-jawed men of action proves longer on striking visuals than on truly engaging or memorable characters. With the family crowd pretty much to itself this holiday season, “Frozen” should generate considerable box-office heat, if not quite the same level of critical and audience affection that attended the superior “Tangled” and “Wreck-It Ralph.”

This is the best animated musical to come out of Disney since the tragic death of lyricist Howard Ashman, whose work on “The Little Mermaid” and “Beauty and the Beast” helped build the studio’s modern animated division into what it is today. And while “Frozen” may provide some new outfits for young princesses-in-waiting, it’s a movie that inspires inner strength to go with those outer ruffles.

Frozen is an exhilarating, joyous, human story that's as frequently laugh-out-loud funny as it is startling and daring and poignant. Hot on the heels of the 90th anniversary, it's impossible to imagine a more perfect celebration of everything Disney is at its best.

And this film is an incredibly strong addition to that lineage, one full of genuine magic and awe, where ice castles can materialize out of wintery air and snowmen can dream about hot weather. As far as animated movies go, it doesn't get that much better than "Frozen." It's a new Disney classic.

This is the best Walt Disney Animation Studios movie in a generation, and the best family movie - by a considerable distance - of the year. It's an astounding piece of work, and the kind of film that we'll still be buying on whatever's replaced DVD in 30 years' time.

Goddamn, some glowing reviews. I seriously think Tangled is an animated classic and Wreck It Ralph was the best animated film of last year.

This looks pretty boring.

Also "it's so cute, like a little baby unicorn" feels like something directly out of Despicable Me.

Since the Pixar buyout Disney's been on a roll.

I wish they'd return to 2D animation (especially since Tangled and Frozen were clearly conceptualized as such) but as long as they keep up the quality I'm not complaining. Maybe work on a Paperman filter or something

Just when I thought I was out.

Way to go Disney. Reviews have me much more interested than the impressions I got from the trailers. Hopefully the word spreads. I thought Tangled was awesome.

Hmmmm, not sure what to think.

I want it to be good, but:

- The snowman looks annoying as shit
- I thought Tangled was "okay" while Wreck-It Ralph turned to garbage after a fairly strong opening.

I'm really hoping they just stuffed all the crappy snowman bits into the trailer for laughs and that the rest of the movie is a lot better than what they showed.

Apparently Disney is working on a movie due in 2018 that uses some sort of hybrid of traditional animation and 3D. Might be similar Paperman.

For what it's worth, I have noticed a trend whereby early reviews tend to be more positive. And a sample size of 6 isn't too large.

Japanese trailer was much better and actually piqued my interest. Also, the snowman was slightly less annoying.

Honestly debating whether to watch that version or not.

I'd agree that the pink was overdone, but Wreck-it-Ralph was far from "garbage".

Excited for this but felt the trailer revealed too much (surprise surprise). I really enjoyed Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph so feeling good about this one too. Might have to see it in theaters.

It looks...alright, but the dialogue isn't doing it for me. Just a shade too "contemporary" for my tastes.

Does the sound weirdly drop out and then get desynced at 1:30 for anyone else?

Comments say YouTube automatically muted the music.

Oh...that's what happened.

"Song snippets!"
"I don't hear shit..."

Haha oh well.

Still don't like Olaf at all, but reviews, knowing the plot, Idina Menzel, music from Avenue Q people, all of this has me super excited. SOON.

The Japanese trailer on post 50 does feature the same snippet in English, also around the 1.30 mark.

Also, some more snippets can be heard in this behind the scenes video.

I dunno, I actually found it sort of insulting. The entire candyland area was so grating, and it was such a bait-and-switch from the beginning of the movie, which I feel really promised something different. I also just didn't find it funny :\

I see what you're saying. It was definitely out of left field. They kinda put all the video game stuff aside and it became a racing fairytale. I still really enjoyed it though, and hopefully the sequel will focus more on the video game characters. Apparently it's set during the online gaming era. It'd be hilarious if they put a reference to console wars in there somewhere.

I found it pretty telling that my friend who works as an animator was irritated by the first trailer, and was enthused to see the release of the 2nd trailer.

Can't wait to see this, will be at Disney World when it releases.

Online gaming? So Mario won't be in it?

:)

Idina Menzel <33333333 sounds great.

Christophe Beck has scored a lot of great things, more recently Paperman and Muppets.

Robert Lopez is behind Avenue Q and Book of Mormon, and he and his wife both worked with Disney on Winnie the Pooh.

It's in good hands :)

Tangled was amazing. Y'all are crazy.

Also Wreck-it Ralph.

Oh, and I didn't know YouTube had the technology to remove just a song from a trailer while keeping the voices intact. I thought they usually just muted the whole thing.

Tangled was ok, not great, but the craft was great - the visuals, music, polish. Characters felt shallow and lacked warmth but it was a solid start to rebuilding the Disney formula in CGI. Hopefully this takes it one step further.

holy crap, I wrote this off when i saw the first teaser trailer months ago. but now it has my attention. Tangle'd

Wow we have a reviewer literally saying this movie is better than Hunchback, The Lion King,Mulan,Tarzan,Lilo & Stitch, Tangled, and Wreck it Ralph. Goddamn.

People tend to focus too much on the film on the early Renaissance, specifically the twin giants of Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King and a lot of the later ones tend to be ignored somewhat. I'd say there was a fair chance that these reviewers who compare it to Beauty and the Beast/The Lion King weren't even thinking about Hunchback, Mulan, Tarzan, Lilo and Stitch etc.

To be honest, I'm a little sick of comparisons to those two films. Especially BATB, I love the film but it is flawed enough that it should not be considered the gold standard. Of course, most of this comes down to that Best Picture nomination.

I know the people who animated Tangled also did this, but did they also hire the same voice actors? They main girl/guy sounds like Rapunzel and Flynn.

No, Rapunzel was voiced by Mandy Moore, Eugene by Zachary Levi.

Here, Anna is voiced by Kristen Bell while Kristoff is voiced by Jonathan Groff.

Didn't care for the look of it from the trailers, and Tangled is one of my top animated movies ever, so I'm glad to see this get such great reviews. Can't wait.

I'm in. Just hypothesizing that the snowman is the prince but the snow queen accidentally killed him or something, idk, never read the book.
