is tinypic a GAF-safe place to host avatars? (I use it to host pics sometimes but don't know about avatars)

my photobucket finally exceeded its bandwidth again :lol

My avatar has always been hosted at Tinypic

What's the definitive account (book/documentary) on the Waco siege? The idea that the American government lied about it and killed 70 innocent people seems to be a big idea with militia movements and conspiracy theorists, but I want to know the facts.

thanks for reassuring me :lol

even if it's not ban-worthy, it annoys me when the bandwidth exceeded/no longer hosted pictures show up :lol

Someone I care for deeply has had some really fucked up things happen to her, and with my first week of classes, I tend to stress out. I ended up making a big mess of our relationship, and now she doesn't want to be with me.

I'm shattered. I don't know what to do. She said she doesn't know if she is capable of caring for me right now with all the shit going on in her life, and I'm afraid i'm going to lose her.

She said I was too controlling over her. Which wasn't the case, it was just with her going through all that, I was worried sick. I was trying to show as much affection as possible, but when she didn't show anything back, I ended up getting myself upset. And pissed her off a few times. She said she cared for me, loved being with me, I was fun. I haven't been fun, only adding stress to her already crazy life. She didn't want anymore drama, and she had enough.

I don't know what to do. I don't want to lose her. What can I say to make this work? I feel so horrible.

Practice in the city during rush hour.

By city, I mean parking lot. By rush hour, I mean empty.

I'm watching Planet Earth on the Discovery Channel and Sigourney Weaver is narrating. Where's Richard Attenborough? Did the fuckers at Discovery change them for the American release. Even if I'm American I've been interested in listening to Attenborough, being unfamiliar with him, for a while, and they screw me over with Ripley? Can I choose Attenborough on the DVD/Blu-ray?

if you buy from the discovery store i think you get the weaver one, but if you buy anywhere else you get the bbc one.

What do you mean? I think that it's considered rude because some people go to sleep around that time to get up early for work, if that's what you mean.

I understand that, but everyone was like "Larry, it's ten pm. YOU CANNOT CALL THEM, PERIOD" and when Larry had to go to their house they were so pissed off because "IT'S PAST TEN PM" and practically kicked his arse out of the house. I was kinda appalled, maybe David exaggerated the story a bit

in short all I wanted to know if this is some sort of unwritten rule everyone should follow, and if people really get that pissed off for that, or just some tv show stunt

Give her some space.
Stop freaking out. Find a way to deal with your stress, or whenever you DO approach her again, you'll just create more drama.
After a couple months, if she hasn't already come to you, just send a quick note - hand-written, if you really care - saying that if she ever wants to talk, you're there for her.

It's rough and crazy right now. With a little time, things will calm down and will look a lot different.

Take it as a life lesson and move on. Sorry but you don't want to get wrapped up in her issues. She needs to deal with them herself and come to terms with whatever happened to her before she can have a decent relationship with anybody. Until then, it will always get in the way and cause drama and pain.

My browser diplays all the text in bold.

How can I get it back to normal? I don't know how I got this in the first place...

Any suggestions would be appreciated as I plan on using my laptop for lengthy periods of time and would like to avoid any unfortunate incidents.

Not cracking eggs on your laptop would probably be a good start.

You might of just made it larger. Press Ctrl - to make it smaller (Ctrl and + to to make it bigger)

What's the best torrent app for OSX? I'm using Transmission to upload my Netlabels stuff but it's kind of barren in terms of features.

Try utorrent for mac. It's still in it's early phase, but it's well worth te look. Vuze is another option, but it's a system hog, and it's far to fat and bloated IMO.

I just want something that's easy to make torrents with that I can leave on. Maybe I'll use uTorrent to make them and then Transmission to leave on.

Thanks :)

I've finally given into the iGeneration and am trying to use iTunes. Never wanted to because it's slow and awkward as fuck to use, so sorry if this sounds incredibly obvious, but...

how the hell do I set up custom playlists? I can make a "Smart Playlist", but don't want to add shit automatically, and once it's made I seem incapable of adding stuff from within it, or dragging it to the icon. Right-clicking on the songs gives me no options either. I can make a playlist folder, but same problem.

>:(

So my 360's disc drive broke, but I really want to play Mass Effect (downloadable games still work fine btw). Is there any way that I can download Mass Effect from games on demand without having to pay for it again?

I will suck your jaggon. I have no idea how I missed it, I guess I just naturally glance over the first option when looking under file.

I have a motherboard in an old computer that will accept a pentium D - does that mean it will also accept a pentium dual core? I assume they are the same but I was wondering because some of the wiki info seems to say they are different.

Trying to fix my sister's laptop. When turned on it starts up with a black screen telling how it came across an error and gives the option to "Run in safe-mode, Run with Command Prompt, or start normally. Either one of these I press it just turns the whole screen black, the only thing that shows is the mouse.

I hit f8 and tried to do a system restore, but it says there are no restore points. Also, I don't think my sister has a disk for her OS (vista).

She screwed?

Is this avatar the correct size for gaf?

Never shift back into 1st unless you've stopped. 2nd gear when turning corners. Cruise in 4th/5th for better city gas mileage. Engine braking/rev matching will save wear and tear on your brakes, but don't worry about this until you're comfortable with the basics.

Also find a residential hill with no traffic to practice on. You're going to need to get used to rolling back a bit. Some people use the parking brake to prevent roll, but once you get use to the friction point of the clutch, rolling will be minimal

You've never driven a manual at all? If not you really should have someone there who has when you pick up the car so you can at least pull it off the lot and go somewhere where you can practice driving it. If you have no idea how they work I would also look into reading up or watching videos on the subject to so you at least understand the basics.

- Your clutch disengages your gear and allows you to shift
- The car will die if you stop while engaged in any gear (or not enough RPMs for current gear)
- 1st gear is just to get you moving
- Hold down the clutch while you shift, let go, then gas. Keeping the second point in mind you'll probably burn your clutch a bit riding it to get into first gear in the beginning.
- Stopping the car requires you either shift into Neutral or hold your clutch down while breaking
- Up-shifting is cake, down-shifting requires you rev-match by tapping the gas before you drop back into gear

If you're going to be stuck driving the car by yourself the first time and don't know how manuals work hopefully that will help you.

This.

Also stash away 400-500 dollars. depending on the condition of the car, and how long it takes you to get the process down, you may need a new clutch.

they also made some subtle changes to the script. I knew I heard some different narratives so I went and taped the attenborough ones that were on tv and compared them with the weaver ones on bluray. Kinda pissed me off.

This is good advice (I just passed my manual driving test in the UK)

I'm taking a c++ data structures class this semester after spending last year in java. Are there any lightweight, free compilers that will run on an older, slower computer? I was in an intro class two years ago that used CodeWarrior, will this work?

Quick update:

We hung out for a bit, nothing was said about the matter all day, I ask whats going on between us at the end of the day, and she says "Well, we're having a good time now, right?"

So all's well. We talked things over, concluded that we both just had some odd days, and nobody got hurt.

Is there any way to find out how people get banned? I know not all bans are equal (some seem temporary) but I'm always curious to see what someone said that got them banned (mostly so I don't repeat the same mistake)

In WWII, or today for that matter, if planes returned from a mission with bombs/torpedoes/rockets/whatever, were they supposed to drop/fire them before landing? It seems like the shock of landing a plane with a 1000 lb. bomb still attached might be an unsafe proposition.

My parents labrador retriever is rather on the... heavy side.
125lbs.

I checked online and apparently labs should weigh 55-75lbs, supposedly. There's obviously the chance that the dog is bigger than the average lab, but even so, that's got to be a seriously unhealthy amount of fat on him.

How much shit is this dog in for? I've heard labs get arthritis relatively young due to their weight as it is :(

You could click in their name and then see all posts made by them. Some bans come from repeated problems and others are from the last or one of the last posts made by the person.

I don't know about WWII but most bombs today need to be remotely activated to be used. If never activated they shouldn't go off even if dropped.

I hate it when I find this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001OLU13K/?tag=neogaf0e-20

http://www.amazon.com/dp/1594480001/?tag=neogaf0e-20

And I'd like an explanation please!

Two links for the same product, except one with only used books for sale, barely any reviews, in this case not on kindle, and none of the flashiness of the other page - which actually looks like a best selling product's page with the expected number of reviews and a high quality pic of the cover with look inside and add to shopping cart tempting you on the right.

It's creepy when I stumble on the cheap and anemic page first, like I just entered an abandoned store with some junkie in the corner staring at me. Why do those pages exist? Make it all clean and tidy, erase the unnecessary ones Amazon. >:(
