Why does a women happily parade around the beach in skimpy, skin-tight bikini but then fears being seen in public wearing only their bra and panties?

For that matter, why are women's bathing suits skin tight to begin with? I'm not complaining, I'm just curious if it is for anatomical/comfort reasons or is it simply a fashion thing.

That's steam from hot water passing through watermain pipes underground, I believe. EXTREMELY HOT water (see Manhattan Con Edison watermain break of 2007).

Body armor questions :

1) What was that instance in the 90's where those guys put on a bunch of armor and tried to rob a bank or something? What did they have on?

2) Is there body armor for every part of your body? Like, is there shit that protects your face from bullets?

3) If I put on two bullet proof vest, am I like, twice as protected?

1)The hollywood bank robbery, the beginning scene in the shitty movie, SWAT, references it loosely. They only had torso body armor I believe, maybe a helmet? I forgot.

2) yes there can be, but they are very cumbersome. Face? Hmm not really, I suppose you could have a mask of steel plating.

3) kevlar vest will only protect against shotgun blasts and 9mm bullets. They will not protect you from rifle rounds aka 5.56mm or higher.

The reason why those two Hollywood robbers took on so many cops was that the LAPD only had 9mm pistols and 12 guage shotguns. It was not until they brought in some rifles that they could snipe em. The robbers had AK47's and torso body armor IIRC.

That was one of the reasons why SWAT teams were formed and why most police stations started carrying M16's or now M4's.
 
after reading the myriad of girl-gaf and 'I fucked so-and-so' threads in the OT lately, I've got to ask. As a hypothetical, if you were married to someone who was formerly a porn star (lets assume they were pro...say...on the level of a number of covers and such) would you make a thread about it?

Or would you just sit back and laugh at all the misconceptions about the porn industry that show themselves here every day?

Thats surprising that those vest only protect against shotties and 9mm, what do our soldiers in Iraq where? Do they have anything that can protect them against rifle fire?

And for whoever asked, it's just something I've been pondering, I'm not a gun owner.
 
You could cover your face with bulletproof material but it would be either too heavy or too thick to be useful.

And I think there are no vests that can protect you from rifle fire. Those fuckers drill through you even in full combat gear. The helmets that soldiers wear do not protect from 'em either.

You would see a big dark rectangle with some visibility being a reflection.

I knew a girl, whom we nicknamed 'Psycho Claire,' who hadn't been laid in so long (6 months) that she claimed that if she were to get raped, she'd check to see if the guy was reasonably good looking and if he was she'd simply let him do her. The funny thing is that she wasn't even that bad looking but she had hang ups about chasing men and believed that girls shouldn't have to do anything to get laid. She was a big of a lunatic though.

My question:

Would you rather have an ugly/disfigured face but be incredibly strong/athletic and very thick skinned (don't really care what anybody else thinks of you, nor do you care much at all about the welfare of others.)

Or

Be incredibly good looking and charming, but have a frail weak body, be crappy at sports, and be extremely sensitive and caring?

will a wireless-g setup work well if the router is on the 1st floor and the wireless adapter is on the 2nd floor? i am worried signal strength will not be good.
