Just got a new FullHD tv the other day, hooked up my xbox trough component cables set it to 1080p, works fine, but sometimes it begins to stutter for a few seconds.
Something wrong with my tv or an xbox problem?

I bought a new 15" Macbook Pro, and it has a little pocket of resistance when opening or closing the screen, about 3 or 4 inches from when it's fully closed. You can hear a small "pop" and feel resistance when opening or closing the screen.

Is my computer screwed up, or do they all do this, to prevent opening accidentally or whatever?

question about ironman, did he ever get the shards off his chest ? and why did they need to dig a hole in his chest but not take out the shards?

They were around his heart and couldn't be removed, so they placed a magnet nearby to keep the shards away from his heart.

I think in the logic of the movie it's permanent.

Is there some sort of "ideas" thread, for like, movies/games/tv shows or anything else, even?
No? Ohwell.

I have an idea for an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery. Anybody want to hear it? lol (You'd have to be familiar with how they work to appreciate it, I guess.)

Does anyone else sometimes stop and realise that they haven't been fully awake/aware for days on end. I think i'm a bit wierd, i don't know what it is exactly and i can't really describe it properly. Basically it's like being a bit 'numbed' you kinda do your everyday tasks etc go to work blah blah, but you're not giving anything proper thought or emotion, so when i look back over the past few days, they're just like a blur. It's very sublte, and it's more an inward thing, nobody can tell i'm like this, i don't think.

Could somebody please post a topic in Gaming Discussion, informing people in the UK that they can pre-order Modern Warfare 2 for £35.97 (instead of the £55 RRP) from Tesco's website? It says £44.96 there, but you get 20% off pre-orders and free shipping, which are applied at the checkout confirmation page. I just pre-ordered it myself, as it's a damn good deal, and I want to let people know about it, but I can't make topics myself as I'm a Junior.

I've been trying to remember the name of this old movie I saw as a kid. I think it was about some tiny saucer-like alien robots that entered an apartment complex or something. Any help would be appreciated.

That would be *batteries not included.

Why don't you post it in this thread?

Yeah, it's like you don't bother really waking up for a few days in a row.
Mostly coincides with going to sleep late and routine work.

I know what you mean, but mine is worse, beacuse when i 'snap out' i get effected more easily by things, things worry and panic me more, but i soon go back in, and forget about the bad things. It also works the other way, i have to try and snap out of it if i want to feel exited/happy.

Maybe that's the working behind it, since I freak out easily too.
The mental shutting down is to protect the over-sensitive feelings.

I often need to work my self up into a social state when I'm going out to meet people.

EDIT: At work I sometimes drink coffee (I'm super sensitive to caffeine) to go into an emotional roller-coaster which also makes me super productive, since I'm mostly fueled by fear.

Why do we learn as youngsters that yellow + blue = green, but trying this on a computer with RGB yellow + blue = gray? I mean, I'm used to there being different methods of defining things, and there are different sets of "primary" colors used for different purposes, but usually I expect when different methods are put to the same task, they'll end up with the same actual result.

I wouldn't say that i need to work myself into an social state, i'm pretty relaxed around people, but I definitely think that i have had a mental shut down to not freak out over stuff, the problem i have is that i can literally block anything out, something bad could be happening to me tommorow, and i can ignore it pretty much until its upon me. This can work against me though, like i need to do something in work but i can't be assed, i just block it out, it never gets done and i get in the shit.

I'm on to what you mean when you say you're fueled by fear, if i'm crapping myself it wakes me up and i do stuff, spot on. Sometimes i just want to do some crazy stuff just to feel alive, but i don't really know what.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subtractive_color
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Additive_color

Yellow + Blue (Cyan) = Green in the subtractive color model, where adding all colors together makes black. This is used if you're mixing paints or inks.

Monitors use the additive color model, where adding all colors together makes white.

You're trying to simulate subtractive color halftoning on a monitor, but halftoning isn't done with checkerboard patterns where none of the primary colors overlap. A real print would have the yellow and blue overlapping either completely or partially, with varying halftone sizes, depending on what color and shade they wanted to get.

Is it Legal?:
To download and use roms for games you own?
To download and watch movies you own?
To download and use cd workarounds for games you own?

In the US:

No.
The DMCA states that all "backups" must be made from the original yourself.
The DMCA states that all "backups" must be just that - backups. You can not use them to play off of while the original is still functional. You can not keep them if you sell/transfer the original to another person.

No.
See above.

No.
The DMCA has this little bit about circumventing copy protection or encryption schemes. Your no-cd patch, disc image, daemon tools, etc. are all being used to circumvent the copy protection schemes.

What is legal and what is not is open to interpretation by a judge (and if you're lucky, a jury), and it not just based on the letter of the law.

Nobody gives a shit about ripping CDs anymore. It's been deemed fair-use now.
Every major media program has options to convert your DVD to mpeg4 (of course, you'll have to rip the DVD with another program, but it's tacit approval).

Of the three you listed, you're most likely to get into shit by downloading movies.

I sure as fuck don't think any of those things are wrong (with the exception of downloading a movie maybe, since you'll probably be uploading it to others as well, and they probably don't own a copy).

It hasn't been showing for me since the last Firefox update, either. Maybe something's off on the site's end and it's still saved in cache for your Firefox?

Trying in IE7 now, I'm not getting it there either.

Firefox's cache is cleared whenever I close Firefox so I doubt it's that's it. Just tried removing my favorite of NeoGAF in Internet Explorer 8. The favicon is still not there.

Why do birds seem to fly in front of cars? Just today I noticed a bird dive down towards a car and narrowly avoid missing it, and I've seen bird roadkill all over the place. You'd think they would be the least likely animal to be roadkill...

I had a kind of first date on Sunday. Went very well. However 3 hours of memories from the night are missing! I know it ended with a passionate kiss and some holding of hands and then some more but what preceeded directly before is all gone!

Dumb arse question of the week: does he kiss mean anything or shouldni just take it as a drunken event?

What does it mean when a junior GAF member has been a member for more than 60 days and posted more than 200 replies, but is still a junior?

Do the mods need to "approve" each account going from junior to member?

Just curious. I read the FAQ and it said, "How do I become a member?" "Post 200 replies AND be a junior member for 60 days."

She at the very least likes you enough to kiss you while drunk.
I'd say, set up a second date, don't get drunk, try to kiss her again, see what happens.

60 days after approval, I'm guessing you came in with the latest wave, that was less than 60 days ago.

I believe that the required number of posts to become a member has been bumped up to 300.

Sounds about right to me. I'm seeing her again this weekend at my friends birthday bash. Guess I'll just have to see what happens there!

Thanks for the answer.

I registered somewhere in '08, but was approved a few weeks ago, that's when the clock starts ticking.

Ahh yeah that's right. Forgot about that.

However, I just checked my posting history, and I've got posts dating back to January of 09, well beyond 60 days ago. So doesn't that mean I've been approved for some time now?

I'm thinking it may be 300 posts if that's the case.

How do i make gifs out of videos?

Vidgif is a pretty good program. Easy to use. Combine that with Adobe Imageready (if you have it) to cut down the size.

Anyone know why I'm still labeled as "Junior Member"? I've been here since December and have over 200 posts. :(

It's 300 posts now. The FAQ is out of date.
