So, I'd like to know how some people manage to get large files to down to almost only 60% of their original file sizes through zipping them. I generally manage to get it down to 99% of their original size.

What is this nonsense...using 7zip.

Ultra...figure that'd be good...even though it only uses 2 cores...

Basically the same size, making it almost useless. What's the point of freeing up space by zipping if it just makes it almost the exact same size? I'd like to know how TF2 mapmakers manage to get such awesome compression (perhaps because of the file type?). I know they use bzip, but that didn't really get me anywhere either.

Anyway, thanks in advance if anybody knows.

Also, does anyone know if you can buy this on monoprice?

It's a little adapter so you can plug headphones in one end, and then plug the adapter into something like an amp. I thought they had them, but I can't seem to find them now.

They receive no notification.

Though they may notice if you had them on prior, or if you've exchanged messages.

PSP - Dissidia

iPod Classic
Hm. I like those two choices. If you're into music a lot, then the iPod would be great. Music on the go, play it on your car, etc.

You can also get a lot of your money's worth from a PSP with Dissidia and other games that may come out for it this year. I don't know...! Think about it!

Will this actually output video from an iPod?: http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...d=1083101&p_id=3450&seq=1&format=1#largeimage

I thought you needed to plug it into the digital slot in the bottom of the iPod. Does the audio port also output video?

whitehawk, I was reading some user reviews of that iPod cable thing...and there's a mixed response regarding if it outputs video.

There's this in the description:

*Important: Video output is not compatible with newer Ipods - 3rd Gen Nano, Ipod Classic and Ipod Touch.

And this:

Question: Why am I not getting any Video output?
Answer: If you are using any current generation Ipod with video capabilites such as the 3rd Gen Nano, Classic, Touch or Iphone, then this cable will not work. All current generation Ipods require a cable with authentication chips to output video. You can purchase A/V cables with the authentication chip directy from Apple.

If you are using a previous generation Ipod such as the Ipod video or Ipod Photo, you much go into the settings menu of the Ipod and activate the video output.

Do they have Kettles in the US?if so are they still called kettles :lol
Actually, they use an acronym instead. The full name is Kinetic Engine for Thermal Transfer of Latent Energy. It's quite a fortunate coincidence.

I've got water in my ear. I tried putting some rubbing alcohol in there to help speed up evaporation, but that only made it worse.

Tried a Q-Tip last night, but I'm really afraid of those things damaging my ears, and my probing didn't solve the problem any.

I have about 50% hearing out of my ear, and it's pretty annoying. It's not painful or anything, though.

Any ideas on how I could solve this?

Put more water in it.

Sounds like a joke, but have a shower, and wash your ear. If there's only a little water, it can get stuck, however, more water will cause it to flow out correctly.

I have heard of this theory, sorta like priming an engine, but just the idea of putting more water in there seems bad. I may give it a shot, though, if all else fails..

A crazy straw!

What's up with these medications that may cause suicidal thoughts? How do you scientifically cause suicidal thoughts? Why don't we turn it into a weapon? Drug war 2.0

I find shaking my head from side to side rapidly helps... It's not for everyone though!

Suicidal thoughts are always caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain. I have experience with such medication, it was a frightening experience to say the least.

Not really a question, but I got lazy with a uni assignment, and it's due tomorrow. It's a radio play that must involve three characters, in some sort of conflict. If anyone could throw me some ideas as a starting point, I'd be forever grateful.

Ok newb comic question. Just bought the Superman Black Lantern issue and need to know. Why is there two Supermans? And why is one of them dead? And why is Lois dead too in that case?

I'm not very good at explaining all this but there are interesting articles about it:

http://yourtotalhealth.ivillage.com/suicide-basics.html?pageNum=5

Biochemical factors may increase the risk of suicide. The level of certain neurotransmitters in a person’s brain have been linked to both suicidal behavior and depression. Low levels of serotonin have been detected in people who committed or attempted suicide. Since serotonin helps control impulsivity, a decrease in the amount of serotonin in a person’s brain may increase the risk of suicide. It may also increase the risk of depression, which can include suicidal thoughts or behavior. There is still uncertainty whether the changes in neurotransmitters cause these disorders, or reflect the presence of the disorders.

Anti-depressants attempt to restore the imbalance but its effects greatly differ from person to person. The fact is, we still know next to nothing about the human brain and diagnostic methods for depression and many other disorders are still in its early stages.

Ok, I'm trying to play an HD video on my PS3 and it's not working, help would be very much appreciated. It's an mp4 file, audio codec is AVC 1.4Mbps and video is AAC 192 kbps. Now I'm pretty sure both AVC and AAC are readable by the PS3 so I'm a little perplexed as to why it's showing up as "Unsupported Data".

Guy and girlfriend run into guy's old girlfriend at bar by chance. One of the three hates one of the others but the other one gets on quite well with them. For even more fun, switch one or more genders.

Or, if that's too cliché, a military commander giving an order to two subordinates of equal rank, one that agrees with the decision and one that does not.

Are there any stores in the U.S or preferably NYC that sell footwear that's over size 13? The reason that I ask is because I always have trouble finding sneakers that are size 14 or so (footwear shops never think of us big feet people :( ) . I haven't bought sneakers/shoes for almost a year (unless this question belongs in Men's Fashion Age).

Jump up and down, landing on your heels while tilting your head so that ear is facing down.

Sweet buttery deliciousness. Dunk in butter for best effect.

Texture = part stringy, part chewy. Less fall-apart-age than other kinds of fish (eg cod, halibut, or trout) Taste = kinda sweet, but not as sweet as crab.

The dollar store usually carries these things.

Huh? Translucent just means you can't see clearly through it. But what's "highly" translucent - transparent? So, glass?

toxicgonzo said:

Tinted plastic plates?
Translucent wrapping foil?
Cheesecloth? (though that can qualify as opaque...)
Plastic wall or window decorations?

Highly translucent as in if I project an image onto it using an optical lens, the resulting image is clear. To put it another way - I'm looking for a cheap replacement for ground glass.

So far, scotch tape has worked pretty well, but I need something with a finer "resolution"

Is there anyway I can stream from my PS3 to my PC using Easycap while playing on my TV at the same time, please note that my TV doesn't have a TV out.

This is Easycap
