Does the Mafia Wars on Facebook operate on the same server as the Mafia Wars website? I want to play with some friends of mine, but I don't want to sign up for Facebook.
 
Can anyine help me with this part of Chrono Trigger? It's the SNES version, and it seems I should be able to walk to the right, but the spot where Chrono is standing there is an invisible wall and I can't get out of that area. Halp!

Not to nag but I really need to know if this is a bug or if there's something I'm missing. This is the first time playing Chrono Trigger and if I put it down now I'll never go back!
 
Where the hell can I find some good sounds to replace the basic ones that come with windows? I want some high-tech, sci-fi sounding ones but can't seem to get the right combo of words into google to do it. I especially want a startup one that's a voice saying "system online".

Why don't you bump the Chrono Trigger DS thread? I'm sure there will be MANY people that would be willing to help you out. I don't remember that part that you're talking about unfortunately. Last post was on 13th of this month and I believe it's worthy of a bump to get your question answered. :D
 
What was the deal with so many people trying to cross the Berlin Wall back in the day? Trying to put myself in their shoes, if I want to go from East to West so bad, certainly it would've been easier to safely get across a longer national border rather than a small, security-dense, fully urban one?
 
There seems to be a dying deer in my yard. I don't think it was hit by a car, so I'm guessing it must be sick. Should I go ahead and shoot it or contact the authorities to take care of it in case it spreads some sort of epidemic? The only reason I'm hesitant to call someone is because when they get here, they'll probably just shoot it. If I went ahead and did it now it would save a lot of time.

I want to follow up to my complaint about water in my ears.

Turns out I had about a lima bean sized clump of ear wax embedded deep in each of my ears. I went to the doctor and had them removed.

Yes, it's gross, but now I can hear again!

I think the cause was the Shure (in-ear) earbuds I used to use for the past several years. I will never use an in-ear solution (more specifically, in-canal) again!
 
I have an old Motorola phone with Ntelos service.
I just noticed this yesterday, and it left me confused...

When I receive a text message from people, it usually says:
"From: Name
Blahblahblah"

Sometimes, however, it says:
"Call: Name
Blahblahblah"

What's the difference between "from" and "call" in this situation?

Star Ocean question. I've just received X360's SO The Last Hope as a gift. I'm not well versed in the series, but I understand this is chronologicaly the first in the series. However, I know prequels frequently count on people knowing things from the future for references to make sense. Would it make sense for me to play them through starting with that one, or should this be the impetus for me to finally get around to checking out the PSP remakes of the first two and work my way through the series the original way?

I have Mass Effect saves that took 50 hours to make on a separate gamertag from the one I actually use, and it won't let me transfer them in any way I can see.

I'm going to be pissed if something as stupid as achievement points are stopping me from using my own saves :lol
 
Is there a good free program to make simple photoshops? Photoshop is not free, and I tried using Paint but it can't even do the most simple tasks.

All I want to do it cut out faces/objects and paste them on another picture, and perhaps a couple of edits to make it look a little better.

You can try downloading GIMP or you can use this website to make simple photoshop stuff.

And no about the saves question, MS used to have an option where you could switch data between gamertags without gaining achievements but it was taken away. :(

Actually yes you can, I do this with my dad's account all the time(I accidentally started RE5 on it).

As long as you're offline you won't be hassled when switching accounts.

quick question for CookingGAF

i don't have a meat thermometer, so what is a good way to tell if the meat i am cooking is at Rare, medium-rare, or medium, medium-well.

i tend to have lots of trouble with overcooking chicken and steaks.

Relax your hand.
Touch your index finger to your thumb. Poke the fleshy part of your thumb. If that's how "tough" your meat feels, it's rare.

Touch your middle finger to your thumb. Repeat Poke. If that's how your meat feels, it's medium rare. Repeat with ring finger (Medium). Repeat with pinky (Well-done).

Of course, this is an art, not a science. The best way to tell how "done" your meat is, is to open it up and see.

With poultry and other white meats, juices must run clear (some pink is usually OK if texture isn't rubbery)

With red meats that aren't minced, some blood in the juice is ok. But only some - otherwise, the meat is blue. Minced red meat (eg ground beef) should be cooked at least until the juices run clear.

And for the love of pete, buy a meat thermometer.
