Yes you should have. But it's probably a lot more complicated than that. Such as her finding this out years into it, as he slowly drifts away.... :/

When exactly was the sandwich invented? Or was it just in our collective consciousness that food between two pieces of bread is a tasty meal?

John Montague, 4th Earl of Sandwich (1718-1792) is supposed to have invented the sandwich as a quick meal so as not to interrupt his gambling sessions. However some form of a sandwich was probably eating before this time when more humans ate with their hands rather than using utensils. In facts there is some references in history where soldiers would wrap stew or food in a bun or piece of meat.

The ham sandwich is still the most popular sandwich in the United States, and in second place is the BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato). It is estimated that Americans eat 300 million sandwiches each day - that's more than one for every man, woman and child in the nation!

The Earl of Sandwich came up with it.
EDIT: D'oh beaten so hard

I remember reading that he wanted to eat meat without getting greasy fingers while playing cards, or something to that effect. No idea of the truth of this though, getting facts from the internet and everything.

For $14, I probably wouldn't bother him about paying you back, HOWEVER, I'd suggest having him to pay for lunch or something.

Yeah that could work, I know it's a relatively small amount but I'm the kinda person who when they borrow money/item/etc. always pays it back so it's just weird. Maybe next time he tries to borrow money I'll remind him or something.

Are you trying to set up an app page or a group page or a fan page?

I have a group page set up. To add apps it's asking me to fill out a personal profile. I put my name in and like 5 minutes later I got a request from one of my friends to add him to my Facebook page through my work email. Worlds are colliding! :(

I want to make a thread about the machinima respawn's channel but I am not sure whether it fits better in the gaming or in the OT.

The thread will discuss their content, joining the channel, tips on capturing videos and making good commentaries and montages and so on.

Do you think its a good idea to have such a thread on neogaf? and if so where?

I really feel like Indian.

However my housemates are not home. In fact I'm home alone. Which means if I order take away Indian I'll have to both meet a minimum purchase fee, and pay a small delivery fee on top of that.

So it will be a little bit more than what I want to pay. But I really feel like Indian and do not feel like cooking.

I can't believe the ham sandwich in #1. I hardly ever see people eating them.

Yes, order it. Order extra and then it's like TWO meals!!! That's totally worth it.

My right ear hurts when I bend down... and it constantly feels like theres pressure on it. Like I have a dickload of ear wax. And sometimes when i just move my head down (so it's perpendicular with my body), the pressure goes away.

WHY? I have a above normal amount of mucus in my body, but I'm not really sick anymore.

In 40 minutes my two meals will arrive. Damn I'm cool.

Does anyone know how I can have the same column headings across a range of worksheets in Excel? I'm sure I've done it before but hardly use it nowadays and copying & pasting is too painful when I have 30 sheets involved.

Somehow, I'm thinking it's from the game Portal...

Searching on Google for "completed evaluation regret announce closures read alphabetical" just gives me the above thread. :(

It's from the Simpsons episode where Germans take over the nuclear power plant, and Homer is the only one fired.

So I've decided to go on an all vegetarian diet exactly two months ago. I feel great and lost 30 pounds (with proper exercise as well) and I'm just wondering if eating sushi (it has crab) would break my veggie streak?

Yes. You eat that crab tomorrow, the next week you're eating "just one" hamburger. Then BAM! Fatass again. Don't fall for the temptation, brother.

Technically, yes, but if your vegetarianism is purely diet-related and not based on any kind of morals or principles, I think you'd be okay eating a little crab. Congrats on the weight loss.

Highlight the column headings and copy them. Then, you click over to your next sheet, hold down shift, and select all the other tabs for the other sheets. Once they are all highlighted, the changes you make in the active sheet are reflected in all the other highlighted sheets. Formatting changes, data changes, copying and pasting, etc.

:lol

Excellent point. Well I was never a "fat-ass", just a little overweight. I've lost 73 pounds in the past 11 months and I'm down to 156. It's not that I ate a lot of high fat foods it's just that I drank a lot and by a lot I mean I had finished 13 cases of 24 beers in a month. My gut was huge.

Thanks and yeah it's nothing in terms of morals/principles as I really don't have any:lol I think I'll just go and pick up some veggie sushi though.

Here's a really stupid question Ive been wondering all my life...

Is the water that comes out of your shower-head/bath-tub the exact same (i.e. filtered and purified the exact same way), as the water that comes out of your kitchen faucet? Or is it a little dirtier and comes from a source thats only partially purified? Im assuming the water that comes from the bathroom sink is the exact same as what comes from the kitchen faucet.. Does it vary by where you live?

How often do electrical surges occur? I'm just wondering how necessary it is to have a surge protector for my laptop. Are they so often that I shouldn't risk it at all if the protector isn't connected?

I believe it's all from the same source, so it would be the same water.

When are new episodes of The Office/30 Rock put up on PSN or XBL? I missed the new Office and I'd like to d/l the HD version of it so I'm hoping that'll be available when I get home from work tonight.

it's all the same. even toilet water is the same.

Note: the answer to this is not "see the workout thread", because I don't want the snobbery of it.

Situps old-fashioned style, or crunches?

WWTASD? I'm assuming they're vegan though. I can't think of any earthly reason why they wouldn't be though so I'm going with it.

Seriously already: What's the reason the search option was removed?

New group of juniors was causing strain on server and lots of 500 errors so they removed search to lighten the load. Just use google.

Crunches isolate the abdomen better and put far less strain on your back and tailbone. Not to get too in depth, but the best way to do them (or the most effective, I've read and found) is with your hands behind your head, laying down, then lift your shoulders straight towards the ceiling. Not towards your stomach, but in a vertical motion. Maximizes the working of your abdomen while minimizing your range of motion.

I'll try this when I get off work in the morning. :)

Whenever I'm in Pomona, I always laugh at this motel because of the way it looks:

Shitty cellphone pic, but does anyone else find this to be weird looking?

Bathwater and kitchen sink water seem to be the same everywhere I go since both usually have to be pure enough to drink. But it's a different story with toilet water. In Hong Kong the toilet water is actually salt water pumped in from the ocean. It runs on a completely separate network from the normal water system.

I'm looking for the greasemonkey script that will turn YT links on forums, such as here, into embedded videos. I have it on my laptop but can't remember where I got it so I can watch YT videos the lazy way on GAF when the notion strikes me.

Is the Pomona thing just skinny rooms or what? I haven't been to Pomona in some time now.
I don't know. It's actually smaller looking when you're actually there. That's why I laugh every time I see it because I can't imagine how the rooms must be like. It's so small!

This is sorta gaming related, but whatever. I have a 1080p telie and I keep trying to set my 360 to "optimal resolution" so that it goes to 720p for most games but it just sticks to 1080p no matter what. I'm getting vertical green lines on the right side of my screen during Brutal Legend and according to my innernet research this is due to it my telie being in 1080p. What the hell, why won't my 360 obey me and change the display according to the game? The PS3 does it automatically, so does my 360 hate me?

Is there anyway to locate a thread I made besides using Google? I made it last month (it was a FF6 Advance "LTTP" thread), and I wanted to post something, but I can't find it. Google isn't yielding any results, and with search disabled, I can't locate it by checking the threads I made. If I want to ask one of the staff members, who should I ask?
