alright so due to a situation with one of his eyes (has had surgery but doesnt seem to be doing a ton of help) my pop reads large print books now. but he reads about 4 books a week and the selection at his local libraries for large print books arent the greatest, he is running out of things to read.

so what im wondering is there some kind of ereader or computer program (mac) that is like on the subscription model where he can pay a monthly fee and read whatever he wants. he is retired and buying 4 new books every week isnt going to happen.

or any ideas i looked online and there seems to be at least two places that are like netflix but with books but they didnt show or group together their large print books
I have no previous knowledge, but based on a few searches a good bet might be BookSwim, as far as large print maybe a magnifying lens stand? I didn't see anything on the site about sending large print books.

EDIT: just saw that you already found a few of those sites, sorry if I couldn't be of much help. I know that on the Kindle you can adjust font, maybe they have a netflix type service, I'm not sure.

I was watching the Lord of the Rings bluray running on a 100Hz TV in a shop, and was wondering two things :
- why does 100Hz make everything look like a TV broadcast ? (especially since TV broadcasts are not 100Hz)
- why do most people (including myself) feel that it makes it look worse than the standard display ?

What would I need to know before I would try to teach myself iPhone programming?

As a point of reference, I know nothing about programming. :)

It's not the higher frequency that makes it look worse, it's the motion interpolation. You can disable it if you don't like the effect.

When a pineapple improves the taste of your cum, how long before the intercourse do you have to eat the pineapple for full effect?
Only one way to find out. Eat a pineapple and jerk off into several dixie cups in half-our intervals. You be the judge.

When I run or do some intense excercise, sometimes my hearing goes out in one hear when I'm out of breath. I think other people have it as well. Anyone know why?

I just sold an item on eBay. The winner has paid via Paypal, but I'm seeing two different names from different addresses in the emails from Paypal and eBay. Am I dealing with a hacked account? What do I need to do to protect myself?

The email from eBay. Hi, Peter from Moorabbin!

No advice on protecting yourself, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's a hacked account. As I've purchased items as gifts, I've ended up with other peoples' addresses listed among mine at PayPal as well as sites I've purchased stuff from, and it would be possible to have what the site says and what the PayPal account currently says mismatch. I know once after not making an eBay purchase for a long time it defaulted to the last address used (not mine) which ended up being a pain, since that person had moved since then. :lol

the second (paypal) one.
the first one is his ebay registered address. the second one is the shipping address he choose during the checkout process.
if you do your shipping labels and stuff over the ebay thingy it will automatically choose the correct one.

Why don't you just ask them through eBay's email which address is the correct one?

- Every girl can do it?
- Does it take a regular orgasm or some king of EX Super Rank S Orgasm?

Pineapple does what now?

A whole conversation I had with some guy a few days ago suddenly makes sense.

On message boards, I notice a lot of people using TBH (to be honest) and IMHO (in my humble? opinion), do people speak like this in their everyday lives? Also the online use of the word hyperbole is completely overblown in comparison to its use in real life.

imo,
Probably not. They have very specific uses in speech.

Although
tbh,
I say 'to be honest' all the time even though I don't write it.

How much money is stored in banks the world over? and when is the last time somebody tried to takeover the world?
I have a feeling somebody is going to say last night. I loved Pinky and the Brain when I was a kid

I thought IMHO = In my honest opinion.

I've never heard anyone use the abbreviations seriously in RL except when we are joking around.

Just drink a lot during the day before you meet up later.
You don't need to eat it, the juice would be fine.

I'm on break right now. Should I smoke this weed before going back to class? Never been high in class before.

Need answer ASAP.

What's the origin of

http://imgur.com/8cy8u.jpg

and in what context is it used exactly?

M. Night Shyamalan is a filmmaker knowing for making movies "with a twist!" For example, and these are spoilers for some of his movies, Sixth Sense: Bruce Willis has been dead the whole time!; The Village: it is actually modern times and not the 1600s!

Essentially, the picture of M. Night Shyamalan is used in place of the text "what a twist!" and is used for surprising or downright absurd changes in a situation.

The origin is a little murky, but I imagine it stems from the TV show Robot Chicken, which is known for having Shyamalan appear and saying "what a twist!" when the skit starts taking weird turns.

It's a meme. M. Knight Shyamalan's movies are known for having some sort of crazy twists in them. I have no idea how that particular photo was chosen, but usually, that pic is posted when and if someone is alluding to some crazy twist at hand in a thread.

Yeah, I have a stupid question, this is just annoying me.

I just watched this awesome acceptance speech by Robert Evans, but during the 49-51 sec mark he mumbles a few words (perhaps a phrase?) and for the life of me I can't understand what he said (maybe just gibberish).

Here's the link:

It's between the 49 and 51 second marks...

"You have two junior G-men"? :lol
Haha. Your close. Thanks for the help! I think I have it now:

"Between the two Junior G-Men..."

Moments earlier in the speech, he said that the woman he approached told him that her last two boyfriends combined weren't as old as he was. And upon doing a little research, "Junior G-Men" was a boys club during the 30s and 40s:lol So basically he's saying, "Between those two young boys..."

Okay, I can sleep tonight.

I'm trying to find post history for a member that was recently banned to see why they were banned just for kicks. :D

However, when I use google/other search engines, I usually get really old results. I even tried putting in "Today" or specific dates in the search with the name. Not helping.

Anyone have a very successful way of searching GAF via search engines?

Currently I'm entering into the search bar: "NeoGAF Username" or "NeoGAF Username 2010" or "NeoGAF Username 04-10-2010" etc...
