What's the best language for coding iPhone apps? I keep hearing objective-c, does anyone know of any good books for learning it? I'd like something like a school text book that has activities and questions for consolidating information...

so guys remember that movie from 80's perhaps 70's, that shit started going down as a meteor passed over and the sky turned red?

Maximum Overdrive?

Here's the trailer, I sort of remember the meteor thing, though it doesn't show it in the trailer. The green goblin truck is pretty recognizable though, if this is the right movie.

Does Metal Slug Anthology contain all of the content that comes with the Metal Slug 3/4/5/6 PS2/Xbox releases (additional modes, levels, etc)?

I just bought a new PC, and I have Windows 7.

It came with Microsoft Works and all of its features like a word processor, spreadsheet, etc..

However, I already have MS Office Home and Student 2007, with word, excel, powerpoint, etc...

Is there any reason to keep Works, or would it be sensible to just uninstall it and gain the extra free space? :P

So GAF. My roommate asks to borrow a text book. Okay, no problem. He's a bit stingy and wants to leech off me, whatever. I give him the text book and a minute later he heads into the bathroom. I look over to his desk a few seconds later when I get up to get a drink...books not there. He's shitting in the bathroom reading it now. Is that incredibly fucked up or am I just prude?

Prude. I take books and handheld consoles and my laptop into the shitter all the time. It's boring taking a dump.

Alucrid said:
Yeah, like I said, I'm a clean person. I even put my fucking backpack through the wash sometimes. To make matters worse, I heard the toilet flush twice and pages turning before and after...

How dare he push the button to flush the toilet? Surely you being the Cleanliness God require the shit to go through the pipes? Or would you rather he didn't flush, gave the book back with shit still dangling off his rectum, waddle out, give you the book, waddle back in, wipe, then flush?

Doesn't that sound a bit ridiculous to you? If not, more power to you if you can get your roommate to do that. :P

What are you, giving birth? Even IF you enjoy taking shits (which I do) I find that it takes no longer than a minute or two, which results in little to no time to get anything done aside from taking said shit. The flushing part was the fact that he wiped, flushed, then went back to reading the book AFTER wiping. If you like to dwell in shit soiled items, go ahead, but he could have left the book out of the bathroom entirely, taken a shit in a minute and everything would be peachy. More importantly they're YOUR items. I don't give a fuck if he takes his laptop or book into the bathroom to take a shit with, I don't use them. When you take my book in there, then we have a problem. While it's part of a cleanliness issue it's also the inconsiderate part. Would you take someone's laptop, handheld or book into the shitter with you?

Get rid of it, it has no use if you have Office.

Damn haven't seen Maximum Overdrive in a long time. Awesome movie though. Timeless classic.

If you home school your kid, how do you expect him to develop significant social skills needed later in life? It would seem to me he'd have to rely primarily on neighborhood friendships, perhaps if he plays sports that would present another opportunity to make friends, but I played soft ball when I was younger. You don't really make friends with anybody outside your team. That's pretty limited social engagement during the formative years. Anybody here home schooled or home schooling their kid? Do I just have a naive understanding of how home schooling works? Please elaborate, very interested to find out about this one.

That should be 'bask' not 'bast'. And I didn't have an anal fixation when I was a kid, but I do enjoy taking shits as an adult. It just feels right, man.

I found too many good deals on CAG and after not buying any games for like 6 months I spent $120 in two hours. Am I a dumb ass?

:lol I'm not sure what I was thinking when I typed bast. Probably the lack of sleep =[ Is bast even a word?

EDIT: Yes. Yes it is:
bast   [bast] Show IPA
–noun
1.
Botany . phloem.
2.
Also called bast fiber. any of several strong, woody fibers, as flax, hemp, ramie, or jute, obtained from phloem tissue and used in the manufacture of woven goods and cordage.

:D Well, you can be forgiven for making such a mistake! I fell asleep sitting up in bed last night and immediately started snoring, much to my fiancee's amazement. We all do odd things when we're tired! :lol

Here is another question, why isn't every single movie and television show available to us to view via On Demand services in our respective territories? It's 2010. On Demand services have proven their viability and are the most convenient way to rent, view and enjoy movies and tv shows. So why do we have to rely on services like Netflix to fill the need? Why aren't our cable companies stepping up?

Hello!

Using opera, anyone got an idea what I could do to fix this?

Thanks in advance

It depends.

We had a Co-op sometimes where all the kids would go to one house for science, or math, or spanish, etc. and then switch to another house for a different subject. All the parents were certified teachers in that Co-op. So, that provided some socialization (20 kids?).

Most of the time, we were done with school by noon and then we were with our friends. We got to do a lot more activities, camping, being with friends than our friends who went to public or private school. Simply because we were done before them and had more time for fun.

This was my experience because my mom knew socialization was important and wanted us to still be around people who were different than us. I knew kids who were home-schooled and ended up being isolated socially. They had plenty of friends, but they were all the same religion and white and the same gender.

It totally depends on the parents.

Objective-C is the way to go. And if you're going to learn Objective-C, the book to get is Stephen Kochan's Programming in Objective-C 2.0.

It's not only the best book for learning that language, it's the best introductory programming book I've ever read. Really, really good, so long as you read it straight through and do the exercises.

That said, it doesn't have a lot about creating iPhone apps, specifically. Once you're done with Kochan's book, you can move to more iPhone-centric book (like Beginning iPhone 3 Development) or the documentation at Apple's developer website. Both do a good job; just depends how you prefer to learn.

Good luck!

Someone who worked in a nearby office whom I disliked intensely asked me if he could look at a book on my shelf and then headed towards the bathroom and brought it back 10 minutes later. That made me dislike him even more. But it wasn't so much the germs as it was the discourtesy. We didn't know each other very well.

If you share a bathroom with him, you have his germs on you already. He touched his ass, then touched the sink faucet. His dick and ass probably brush the shower curtain/door and walls. Whenever he flushes the toilet, a microscopic spray of his fecal matter go everywhere and then land on your toothbrush and everything nearby.

I just try not to think about it cuz it's just not practical to avoid second- or third-hand touching something that's been in contact with ass, shit, dick or whatever.

This really should have been a separate thread, I think. :lol

Oh ya, don't ever borrow my cell cuz I text while shitting.

I guess my followup questions would be: why do Japanese prefer big national papers to smaller regional ones? Why are Americans different in this regard?

i would imagine because it is a geographically small area, so simple economics in terms of getting the physical paper aroudn the country, its much easier injapen

Well I do clean the bathroom regularly since no one else will and it's gets pretty nasty otherwise...I also wipe off the seat whenever I take a dump with a colorox wipe (usually because the lazy bastards piss on the seat). But yeah, whatever...best not do it again though. I was thinking about making a thread, but considering my luck it would've backfired somehow and I would end up banned. Shit, it already backfired in this thread. :lol

I have a little question concerning MST3K.
Up until now I've never even once watched a single episode of MST3K (it's not really popular in my country, etc). I've always been intrigued by it, but I never got around to doing it.
And thus, I have a question: is there any episode with which I should first, or is there no difference if I watch first episode or randomly any later?
If there is no difference, from what I've read, Manos: The Hand of Fate is the best episode, right? What others are the most worth checking ones?

Makes no difference. The outside-the-theater segments have some continuity to them, but it's nothing at all important to see in order. They have to write around the occasional cast change, mostly.

It's really hard to go too wrong picking one at random, but if you want some specific episodes people love, the topic comes up here frequently enough. Most recently the thread Help me out GAF. Reccomend a SINGLE MST3K episode.

Are there any other irregular verbs in English that have different forms for "I" and "you" than "to be"? That has "I am" and "you are", but every single other verb I can think of, even the irregular ones, has like "I have" and "you have".

The best episodes in my opinion are Boggy Creek II, Time Chasers, The Girl in Gold Boots, and Final Sacrifice. I also highly recommend you check out the shorts compilations. There are actually some episodes I would stay away from as a new viewer because the movie itself is so boring that making fun of it doesn't save it .. case in point: Hamlet and Red Zone Cuba. Manos is an ok episode but its not great. Also, I recommend you check out the Rifftrax Shorts compilation if you get a chance. Its MST3k but with current references and with a bit more bite.

No. Irregular verbs in English are irregular in the past, except for to be, to have (has), to do (does), and to say (pronunciation of says).

Gaf, is the word "all" being properly used in these questions?
Depends on what you mean by "properly". Burger King cashier proper or all proper?

I did a quick (really quick) Google search, but couldn't find my answer...

What is the story behind the Red guy, Blue guy, Green guy, and Yellow guy meme?
