I have no idea why this happens. :\

How do I react to accidentally walking in on my mom giving my dad a blowjob? I came home to pick up a box of stuff I forgot to bring with me three years ago, door was unlocked, and on my way out I kind of intentionally walked into them to go "Hey, just stopped by to pick up this stop" and they were in the act. I walked out without saying anything and I'm wondering if I should mention it the next time we talk or just pretend I didn't see anything (which will be fucking hard to pretend).

I don't consider this to require a thread and it's a stupid question.

So, your Dad was blowing your Mom? My reaction would be like 'Mom, if you have a dick, where did I get birthed from? Dad's vagina or your asshole?'

oh man :lol

You could act like nothing. If you want to address it, you could just make a little joke or quick comment about it to acknowledge that it happened, was awkward, and everyone can move on. A simple, "So, today we learned why doors have locks. Anyway, I need to pickup my old box of stuff if that's cool."

Something similar happened to me, I'm pretty sure we all have those stories. A simple "That's what people do, I don't care it's no big deal" sufficed.

Question. Do I need an objective in my resume? My career services center tells me that I shouldn't waste space on the objective if I write a cover letter. Others have told me that some HR departments don't even look at your cover letter and screens resume by keywords so you need to have your objective clearly spelled out. What should I do?

Keep it there. Better safe than sorry. Everyone I know who are in great places and I've gone to for resume ideas have had it, there's no harm.

I was thinking it would be awesome if we did a mixtape thread, but the closest/most recent thread I saw that was similar to what I wanted to do is the GAF Mix Exchange 2007 thread created by Cosmic Bus. Is there a more recent thread in which I could contribute? If not, would anyone be interested in doing a new mixtape thread?

There really wouldn't be too many rules:

-all mixtapes should be 10-15 tracks
-it doesn't matter if they follow a certain theme or are just a collection of your favorite songs
-creating custom artwork for your mixtape would be HIGHLY encouraged!

...now that I'm thinking about it, the most important question I should be asking is would this violate any TOS that GAF has in place? I browsed the FAQ/TOS threads and didn't know if I may have missed something.

Thanks in advance.

How old are you? What kind of job are you looking for?

If you're still in high school or early undergrad trying to get a summer job where specific degree/education is not required (i.e. retail), then yes, I recommend an objective. It's a way to make the job seem like it means more to you than just a summer job.

However, if you have graduated university/college or are trying to get a job in your professional field, you've most likely reached a point where the objective should be cut, because indeed you would cover such a topic within your cover letter... More professional that way. This is going to be your career, you don't need an objective to convey that you 'want to gain experience in your field' or something standard like that ;)

Does anyone on GAF know anything about coin collecting? I inherited a great uncle's collection when he died a few years ago but have no idea how to assess its value.

Why in TNG and Deep Space Nine are ferengi men very attracted to human women, but human women find ferengi men ugly? Wouldn't humans be just as ugly to ferengi as ferengi are to humans?

There's like a zillion pictures of black folks on the Huffington Post front page right now. This a Memorial Day thing?

I see Obama, Tracy Jordan, one of the Temptations, Naomi Campbell, Ruth Simmons, and a missing sailor.

Obama, the dude from the Temptations, and the missing sailor are newsworthy. Ruth Simmons is a non-entity, Naomi Campbell likewise, and I don't know who Tracy Jordan is.

In any case, your post presupposes some kind of editorial consideration on the part of the Huffington Post.

There's a bunch of Temptations! It's full-on chocolate city in Huffingtonland

Logic Text Fuckedupness
In the brand new (10th) edition of Pat Hurley's A Concise Introduction to Logic the following are offered for translation into sentence logic (pp. 299-300):

If Bill O'Reilly spins the news, then if Katie Curic charms her viewers, then Paula Zahn has sex appeal.

If Kate Winslet and Jessica Biel do a comedy, then either Forrest Whitaker will make a documentary or Paris Hilton will do a skin flick.

If Tom Cruise is gay, then if Diane Sawyer interviews him, then Scientology's being nonsense implies that Katie Holmes is in for a surprise.

It is not the case that both Atari's releasing a stalker game implies that Nintendo does and Sega's releasing a molester game implies that Commodore does.

I'm not making this up. I understand that textbook authors are pressured into using examples that connect with the younger generation and all... But what the fuck's up with these examples? Do we really need references to skin flicks? And what's a "molester game"?

Killed me. Anybody who knows more than me about games companies know how on earth this example came into existence ?

So I bought a Bluray player on the cheap. As I do not yet own an HDTV, is there any difference in picture quality compared to a regular DVD player if both are hooked to the same SDTV via composite? I'm going to buy Blurays where possible in any case since I'll eventually get an HDTV, but I'm just curious. (Just ordered the Life narrated by David Attenborough documentary on Bluray for $31 shipped :D)

They're attracted to human females because they're all independent and stuff. It's naughty for them.

I have chronic pain in my lower back from severely weak/injured muscles, has any tried acupuncture? If so did it help?

Just saw some snippet on the news last night about acupuncture research. Supposedly they're finding that the pain relief is actually a result of the body releasing its own pain relievers of some sort in response to the penetration of the skin.

I don't think you'll see any difference. In fact I'm surprised that any Bluray players even support composite cables. An HD picture can only be transmitted over component or better.

Its probably been asked before, but why do four USA exclusive sporting events get stickied threads, while other major sporting events, including global events such as the World Cup and Grand Slam series, do not get stickied?

Excuse me if these do get stickied eventually, but I dont recall this being so.

So I'm looking to buy something on Amazon, but it's listed as "Temporarily out of stock". It says I can: "Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information."

Does this mean I'll get it whenever they decide to restock, or does my order mean that they'll get one to fill the order? Sorry if this has been asked before.

This. Acupuncture is shitty pseudoscience at best. It's been shown that the relief people feel happens regardless of where the needles are placed in. All that shit about chi and energy flow is bull, unsuprisingly.

It's not the events that get stickied, it's the sports themselves. Whenever a new NBA, NFL, NHL, or MLB thread is created, it gets stickied and the old one unstickied.

Why? Two reasons, really. One, the board is North America-centric, so sports that are big in NA are what get stickied. And two, it's really just based on what the mods like anyway.

I look at it as a convenience--I always know that the four stickied threads will be stuff I don't care about, so I can just skip over them without even looking.

College ball forever. Go Bears!

So I'm looking for this oldies song (possibly from the '50s), but I do not know any lyrics. And I have to be really vague, so I doubt this will be answered, but here's what I remember:

The chorus has singing that's basically wordless from what I remember.

It goes ahhhhhh-oooooo-ahhhhhhhh aye-aye-aye-aye. (or eye-eye-eye-eye all strung together in a singing voice)

The song is upbeat.

Maybe there's a site where I can sing it in the mic and see if it can identify it.

Why do my teeth feel so clean after drinking green tea? It's like i just brushed them or something
Green tea contains catechins which kills the bacteria in your mouth, this is one of the possibilities.

Can't think of anything myself but if you know the rythm you could give this a try.
