Here's a question for guitar-age:
I'm a noob and I'm confused about cables on a pedal. Do you run the cable from your guitar to the pedal and then to the amp?

Yep.

Anime is typically Japanese animation. As far as I know the show is not written, produced, or even aired in Japan, so I don't see why it would.

Actually it does have a dub in Japanese. It's animated in Korea by JM Animation (same studio that handled Avatar: The Last Airbender) but yeah, it's still an American cartoon. All cartoons now are animated in foreign countries.

They make Chinese food right down the road, and I'm in Scotland!

It's drawn in the style of anime, but for it to be considered anime it does have to be made in Japan. The cartoon and the comic both originated from America. Even the creator considers The Boondocks to be a cartoon.

Chinese food is still Chinese food since it was originally made there.

Okay, here's my question. I remember seeing a comic posted in the OT that was really funny and was wondering if someone could post it again. It had a kid playing a handheld and had his father lecturing him on how he's wasting his time and the kid intelligently attacked all of his points and later ended with him imagining how he'd be if he gave up games and then decided to keep playing. As I recall, it was drawn in a very simplistic style.

It's all about the origin. Check out Nicolodeon's Avatar:

The show drew on elements from traditional Asian (especially Chinese and Japanese) culture and Indian religions (Hinduism & Buddhism), while blending the styles of anime and US domestic cartoons. The show is often mistaken for anime because of the style.[3]
Avatar is notable for borrowing extensively from Asian art and mythology to create its universe. The show's character designs are heavily influenced by anime; the show, however, is not generally considered to be "anime" because of its origination in the United States.

The definition of anime is usually animation originating in Japan. It could be a style, but it's "not authentic" unless its from Japan, the same way Chinese would probably have a ball laughing at what you consider Chinese food down the road.

I've been requested to procure a limbo set for a party next weekend. As in, the game Limbo, where you try and make it under the limbo stick that gradually lowers while staying on your feet.

I found a kit on amazon for $25, but I have an aversion to online shopping when time's a factor (can't guarantee it'll make it on time, or if it'll be the right thing, etc.)

Would Walmarts have shit like this?

I don't think it should be a problem. I didn't have any trouble using my American Express in Quebec a few months back, though you'll encounter some places that just don't accept it (just like the U.S.)

American money might be a different story though, depending on where you're going. You'd be better converting that to local currency at a bank.

Here's an idea:

Broomstick + two people = limbo set?

So, GAF. I've got a bunch of old pairs of headphones and earbuds that I no longer use, but they're all cheapo dollar store type things.

They still work, so I don't want to just throw them out. What should I do with them?

in my experience a lot of places dont take american express. unless you're near the border, and even then i wouldnt count on it.

american cash is accepted everywhere, but expect to pay a hefty exchange rate, or get it at par even if its worth 1.15+canadian. most places will give fair exchange near the border, but once you get to places that dont typically take american, dont expect them to have a set exchange policy or do anything other than pretend its canadian and again, take it at par

take them apart, the earpieces, and play with the extremely strong-for-their-size magnets inside

Idea: what if i could combine them all into one large speaker or something?

Or take the cables, solder them together, and make half of them the left speaker and the other half the right, then solder that to the male headphone jack.

Would it be possible to take all those small headphones, have them all output the same sound at the same time, and turn them into two big "speakers"?

pretty sure that would sound like absolute shit.

but i guess before you go and play with the magnets in them, the way you're supposed to, you could strip the wires and twist them together and test it out

I want to buy a cheap HD camcorder to make films. A 24fps mode would be nice, but I don't think I can get that for sub-$500. What's the best camcorder to buy under $500?

A random factoid about google's "Are you feeling lucky" feature:
"According to a study by Tom Chavez of "Rapt", this feature costs Google $110 million a year as 1% of all searches use this feature and bypass all advertising."

Seriously, Google has advertising? It's not working then, I've never noticed it.

They sell tag name to auction.

If you tap " vacantion " then, a link appears.

This site paid millions to be the first to appear on the word vacation.

This is how google works and earn money.

For the TV, you shouldn't have to do anything since most TVs will have a headphone jack. Xbox headphones plug into the controller at the bottom and have a smaller jack so unless you can somehow find a converter, you're outta luck.

In this question, Facebook privacy:

Ever since the recent shenanigans with facebook, I've made sure to opt out of their new profile sharing features, lock down all my privacy settings, remove pictures, and more. I've never installed a single application either. Now though I've noticed at many sites (pandora, imageshack, univision, etc) that if I've signed into facebook on that browser, it automatically signs me in through those sites so I can post stuff to my account. How in the hell do I disable this?

Is it true that my company can't legally fire me if I need to take time off for boot camp if I join the AFR (Air Force Reserve)?
Actually I'm pretty sure it's ILLEGAL for them to fire you.

I've worked with several companies that had reservists in them and when they left for a tour of duty the company wouldn't even lay them off because they were worried about breaking said law.

Now I don't know about boot camp, but I am fairly certain for deployment it's illegal for them to fire you. So I don't know why boot camp would be any different.

How weird do you think it is to have your eyes open while making out? I do it like 40% of the time and have told my gf that I do it.

Kinda weird, but I know someone else that does it and he think it's hot or something. *shrug* As long as you aren't uh...somehow creeping out the other person, who gives a fuck :)

So wait...

"This thread is for stupid questions that don't deserve their own individual threads"

This is the title of the thread. Emphasis on the word stupid. So isn't it implies that anyone asking a question in this thread is stupid? Since only stupid people tend to ask stupid questions. And anyone willingly to put their question in this thread agrees that their question is stupid right? Since they saw the thread title but they posted anyways.

Wait, that means I'm stupid too.

Videogame question

Looking for a game that had yet to find a producer. It was a first person fantasy rpg. The independent developers released two demo reel type videos of the game, showing bow and arrow gameplay, a giant troll. I think the second video was a storm and showing off their technology and physics implemented in the game. I was really hoping at the time it would get picked up. Wanted to catch up on it. Anyone know the name?
