This thread is for stupid questions that don't deserve their own individual threads

I've noticed a few avatars per page don't load for me (usually hosted at tinypic). I have to manually reload them multiple times to get them to load. Is that my internet (DNS) or the hosting sites fault?

What the hell is a Pampered Chef party? I was invited to one for this weekend (today actually), and at first I was like "Cool, something to do, and free food!", but then I googled Pampered Chef and it looks like this would be some kind of party sponsored by a knives company or some shit? Will I just show up and end up being pressured into buying crap I don't want? Worth going to?
It's like tupperware parties but with utensils.

They have the best can opener in the world and other stuff, so it may be worth your while. They don't seem to be that high pressure either.

Didn't see a thread for camcorder questions so I guess this is the best place to ask.

Is there anything wrong/rubbish with this camcorder? The Youtube videos for it look good, but the best one is an official Samsung video so is probably made under specific conditions.

I want the camera for recording airsofts.

I don't know about the utensils thing for them but the cookware, like baking dishes and what not, they make some mean food.

Ok this is a stupid question because I think I already know the answer but:

I tried to add some ram to my computer today, and everything seemed to be fine...I grounded myself by touching an unpainted metal part of the PC and the ram went in easy and fast...However, when I turned my computer back on the monitor acted as if it wasn't receiving any sort of single. I tried inserting the ram into a different empty slot, but the same thing happened. The only way I could get the monitor back was by taking the added ram out. Anybody know what is going on? Is the ram bad?

this probably is a stupid question, but I'm applying for an apartment and I'd like to know (it's come up before and I've always been curious)- on the application it asks what my income is. Is that before taxes or after taxes?

Before taxes.

- I have an equivelance of Shaw/Rogers TV (Canada) cable at home. How can I build a HTPC to use as a PVR box (i.e. use a guide from a xbmc skin or media center, record shows to hard drive, picture in picture, etc)? Do I need to do a pass through from my PVR? My PVR is a Motorola DCT 6412. What kind of HTPC specs would I need to be able to handle this?

I have a frozen steak that I left on the counter overnight to thaw. It was in a zip-lock bag but the meat has darkened a bit. Should I be concerned?

Can you read words in your dreams?
In my dreams, whenever I am reading something, it is made apparent to me without needing to actively read it. Its like I know what the intention of the written words is, without really reading them. It always makes sense in there though.

In my dreams, if I look at a digital clock, it will be blank. I don't recall dreaming about analog clocks. Is this common? It was talked about in The Waking Life too.

Why does Photobucket always show me this:

Viewing 1 of 0 username

and doesn't actually show me the goddamn picture and takes hours to load that goddamn facebook application? WTF

edit: OK, it works if I press zoom in but wtf still

That's true. I was just discussing what I can afford. :lol

If a watch is water resistant up to 99 feet what exactly does that mean? That up to 99 feet the chances are slim that water will damage it and that after 99 feet it'll break?
It's about water pressure, the deeper you go in water the more pressure is formed, if a watch is made to only reach 25feet then there's a chance that water can get through tiny cracks or seals once the pressure builds up. It's why most heavy duty underwater gadgets have huge rubber coatings or thick cases which look like they are made of one object.

Q: How long would it take Jonny 5 to ready Wikipedia (excluding external links) if he read at the same rate he read in Short Circuit?

;)

Yes. I've had dreams that have included reading web sites on the internet, quest logs in games, incoming phone calls (name and number on screen), Quake's Rocket Arena "3, 2, 1, Fight!" message, reading books, VB6 code and more.

Is there anything I can do about Chrome throwing up server certificate errors everywhere? My work's proxy is messing with it somehow.

Is constantly charging my phone via a USB cable (connected to my PC) bad for my phone’s battery or for my phone in general?

No, modern batteries will be just fine with constant charging. In fact, letting it drain all the way before recharging could harm it more.

I have an Epson projector here at work and somebody misplaced the power cord. I have some other devices here that use similar power cords (see below), but I'm not sure if it is a good idea to use them with the projector.

Are these cables pretty much universal or is it possible using another cable could damage the projector?

Looks like a standard IEC C7/C8 connector. These should be interchangeable.

Do look at the socket at the device though: It could be that it requires a polarized version, meaning that instead of a "8" shape it looks more like a "B". one part is round, and the other has edges.
Look at the wiki entry, there's a pic.

As long as you don't get these two types mixed up you're safe.

The projector and the cable both appear to be unpolarised. There are no flat edges in the shape.

Thanks for your help! I couldn't find the name of this type of connector for the life of me.

My game has been added to PC.IGN.COM, but is blank except for a few details that I dribbled out a few months ago. Does anybody know anybody that can help me get it updated? I sent an email but it was never responded to.

A baseball MMO? That sounds awesome!

So fucking hot.

The entire group is pretty much smokin' in that cute sort of way.

The average temp of my gpu has gone up about 12c for the last few days and I can't figure out why. The inside is clean and not dusty, no cables are obstructing the air flow, and I updated the drivers. Is there anything else I can do to keep it cooler? The fans are constantly on meltdown-mode and it has shut itself off from overheating once so far.

I'm looking for a cliched movie scene in which a character is watching a tape of a loved one and reminiscing. Bonus points if the character reaches out and touches the screen longingly. I'm pretty sure it's been in a billion movies, but I can't call any to mind.

Did you check the thermal paste on the chip? Could be dried up.

You mean... THIS?

Thank you, it's perfect. And yes, I did watch Minority Report until 5 in the morning.

I'm looking for the youtube clip where its two couples, and their telling jokes/playing charades, and then one guys stops laughing and the camera just zooms into his face for like a minute. I think its from Tim and Eric? And a Gaffer has the guy as his avatar.

It's not Jackie Chan.

It's called "That's not Jackie Chan" or something along those lines.
