Aren't birthdays inaccurate for telling someone's age?
e.g. in reality I'm 9 months older!

Though I guess we should still celebrate the birthday instead as it's probably awkward celebrating the day your parents fucked with no protection to create your genome.
 
I was just using Microsoft IME to type in Japanese, and I must have inadvertently pressed a certain button combination, because when I was typing in Japanese it changed from having to make me type "si" to get し into typing that character whenever I pressed the "d" key. Does anyone know how to change this back?

I'm on Windows 7.

Shift + CAPS lock might work.

It's a "birth" day,not a conception day.

That just changes between typing in English and entering in Hiragana. The problem is that, for whatever reason, typing in Hiragana no longer works the way it did before ten minutes ago.

You should be able to set it back to normal from the language bar. I'm not at my own computer right now, so I can't really be more specific.

Because the day you're born is very quantifiable, the day your fetal progression gained consciousness and you began to experience existence is far harder to pin point.

Don't worry - I looked through the language bar and found that I had somehow enabled "Kana" mode.

Domain registration and transfer question!


I've had a domain that I haven't really used and more or less just sat on for a few years, and the original registrar has apparently transformed into eNom or BulkRegister. Their rates kinda suck, they may have tried to auto charge my card without telling me, which isn't something they did before and is not cool.

I'm thinking about transferring to GoDaddy.com since their transfer and registration rates are cheaper. Their site is much more cheerful as well.

Any insight? Upsides, downsides? Things I should be aware of? Is there something in the fine print that's going to screw me?

So, a week ago i got home and i had no internet.
I surfed using a router and a wireless usb lan adapter , that gave no signal of activity, so i tried browsing via smartphone but i couldn't fiine my lan.
Su i called my ISP, the technician made me power off my router, he made a reset of my line, than made me power on the router and finally i could find my lan on my smartphone.
The usb lan card was still off, so i tought it could be broken.
Bought a new one, that worked fine until today, when i had no signal in any device at all. So i called my ISP again , they made me redo the same process and everything is ok (the new usb receiver is still working).
I asked the technician what could it be, but he couldn't gave me an aswer, so i'm routing the question to you.
I don't wanna call my isp once a week.

well I would count the moment the two cells fused and your individual genome is formed as the actual start of your physical existence.

(btw you get a consciousness/self-awareness much later, I think it's 1 or 2 years after birth)


I was only half serious and thought about the common question "how old are you?", because your answer is not exact if you count from your birthday.

Need the answer to this quickly, if anyone can help:

Was a video game poster that had all the different types of controllers / hardware from every system. Blue/pink colors. Also had an iPhone decal.
 
Is there some sort of card or thing I can put on my PC that has video connections so I can hook up my old systems or even recent ones so I can record them with Fraps?

second question, can gaf please cheer me up, I'm really really really down, like past the listening to linkin park kind of down. And i'm on my fucking vacation, I shouldn't be down ><

I'm watching a horror movie every day in October as a sort of month-long Halloween deal. I'm going mostly by what's listed as horror on streaming Netflix. I'm actually 9 movies in right now, and I've jumped around from decade to decade, and from type to type. But nothing has even registered a jump from me at this point. Right now I have The Omen playing and I'm so bored. I know this was probably some scary shit to a good god-loving person back when it was new, but this is just slow and boring to me.

Would it be safe to say that this brand of film might be lost on people desensitized by all of the whacked-out news stories and things we get exposed to nowadays?

All I really want is something that makes me scared to walk down a dark hallway or be in a room alone. Does no such thing exist? Sadly, the closest thing was when I watched marblehornets earlier this year.
 
The simpsons/familyguy/americandad/whatever, always seem to knock on FOX and everything that has to do with the network, whats the relationship between the fox network and these shows? If FOX now is that bad, why do the shows keep staying with the network?
 
Is there software that allows people to take turns streaming music?

Preferably one that doesn't require installation(i.e. a web app)

is there a place where I can download sound effects from games? More specifically, I'm looking for the Zelda "success" chime so I can use it as a text alert on my phone.

Really random music question:

There's this song that sounds like Billy Corgan Nu-Metal rapping over a Smashing Pumpkins song. I don't think that's actually who it is, but it sounds like it. For some reason I kinda like it - which it odd because I hate both Nu-Metal and Smashing Pumpkins. The only part of a line I can remember is the phrase, "This goes out to all my . . ." - and I can't remember any more. Any idea who/what/why?
 
Is there a way you view pdfs in Chrome in Ubuntu? Its annoying as hell to have to d/l the pdsfs.

And don't say the google docs extension because it's not working for me.
