:lol Gotta respect a good burn, like that one :D Good show! For self-esteem though, I think I'm gonna go with that she was trying to give me a compliment ;)

Edit: The thing is, I wear glasses and iirc, I had as close to zero hair as possible on my head apart from my beard at the time. Yet she still said Brad Pitt of all people :lol

Two items of the same size, dimensions and surface textures, one with more mass than the other, the heavier one will take more energy to move, but will create greater inertia.

In a vacuum, gravity will pull both objects at the exact same speed. No one really knows why.
Sure we do!

The force of gravity includes terms for the masses of each of the objects being pulled together.

f = (G*m1*m2)/r^2

(G is a constant, m1 is the mass of the earth, m2 is the mass of the object, r is the distance from earth's center of gravity)

Acceleration on an object depends on the force working on it and the mass of the object.

a = f/m

Put 'em together and the mass terms cancel out, leaving you with

a = (G*m1)/r^2

Since the constant G doesn't change, and the mass of the earth doesn't change, any two object at equal distances from the earth's center of gravity will undergo equal acceleration. 9.8 m/s^2, IIRC.

I stand corrected. There was a big disagreement in Halls about it once, and I remember hours or reading up, I misremembered it.

Okay but at the same time, the larger object will take longer to stop and carry more energy, right? Yet the smaller object will always accelerate faster T_T Reason I'm talking about this is due to cars and in part GT5 which I ran into a interesting discussion on:

To put this into easy GT5 terms- the only thing that affects top speed is transmission gearing, and the point at which an engine doesn't have the power to overcome the aerodynamic drag.

I'd say it was My Sweet Lord by George Harrison.

My sweet lord (hallelujah)
Hm, my lord (hallelujah)
My sweet lord (hallelujah)

I can't really help you there, my knowledge is recycled from documentaries for the most part. It's pretty basic physics though, some quantum physics overlap, if you google beginners guides or dummies guides etc, I'm sure there will be some easily consumable material.

Yes, that's it. Thanks a lot, man.

What's the best The Mountain Goats album?
If you're looking for a good place to start I'd suggest All Hail West Texas, but you really can't go wrong picking anything before The Sunset Tree. (Not that that or the following albums are bad, they just have a different feel to me and I think it's better to listen to the older stuff first.)

Home Again Garden Grove is probably my favorite Mountain Goats song and it's on We Shall All Be Healed.

I'll take your word on it and give West Texas a listen, thanks for the response.

Anybody know who this pornstar is?? Iv seen her in other stuff and i never knew her name...
That's a porn star? I thought that was Ashlee Simpson. I was way off.

This is going to be worded extremely weirdly because I'm not really sure how to explain what I'm trying to find out. (even this was worded oddly)

Anyway, what is it called when you get charged for committing a crime before it actually became a crime. For example, say you mow your lawn on Monday and it becomes a crime to mow your lawn on Tuesday, but the police come to arrest you anyway. The constitution protects us from this, but I just can't seem to remember the word for it. Any help?

I know the opposite is called ex post facto law.

EDIT: Some googling, I found 'Nulla poena sine lege' means no punishment without law and 'Close
Nullum crimen, nulla poena sine praevia lege poenali' which is more specifically what you asked about, but it's also from Central Europe.

No idea if any of that helps.

Thank you! I knew I should have just googled retroactive law, but that just didn't seem like the name I remembered. It wasn't, but it was most definitely what I was looking for. Thanks again, StuBurns.

I know we had to use a non-free email address to sign up here, but now am I able to change my email address to my gmail, the one I use all the time? I haven't used my ISP email address in years for anything other than NeoGaf but I don't want to get banned if I switch it.

I bought Kid Cudi's latest CD Man on the Moon 2 and I tried to put in my Mac to rip it with iTunes but the disc is ejected after a few seconds and won't show up at all. What the fuck?

My PC fan is beginning to get pretty loud and annoying. It's intermittent. A droning ticking noise that comes and goes for stretches of 10 minutes at a time.

Is it a dust build-up? Is it just old and in need of replacing? Do I risk a lot by simply removing it or unplugging it or something? A friend custom-built this thing for me, and there are three fans inside from what I can tell. One big ass one, one for the video card, and one for the CPU....I think. I can't even tell which fan is actually making the noise.

What to do. I'm so ignorant about this shit :lol

I'm getting 10+ spam comments on my blog literally every day. I'm using Wordpress, and I don't want to create an inconvenience for any internet passersby that want to say hello (or You Suck!). How do I fix this?

is there a estimate of the number of people that have lived on the earth for ever..?
like we know its over 6 billion now, but how much is it if u count all the people that have ever lived.
iv always wondered that.

There has been about 60 billion homo sapiens. Which at first seems unusual that ten percent of all humans are a live today, but as we now live far far longer now, and the population has ballooned.

EDIT: Beaten, with a radically different answer, interesting.

could be the smaller number is only including Homo sapiens sapiens?
It's just a different results from different studies, I've been reading up and I've found numbers from 50 billion to nearer 200 billion. It appears population growth projection models vary greatly, once people get to somewhat documented numbers, they all sort of align.

I'm playing Dynasty warriors 6 empires. I created a character. I fought with him in a battle. After the battle I had increased several levels. I then saved. I tried another campaign. I loaded the same character.

He is now level 1. Is this normal? How do I keep my xp?

Didn't think it was worth a new thread, so it belonged in here:

I leave my pc on for most of the day (only switch it off when I go bed) even though I don't use it, it's just good to keep it running.

I was wondering would this have any adverse effects on a console. For example if I left me ps3 or 360 on all day would that be ok?

Is there a wiki program which can be used only among people on the same network?

Just about any wiki variant? All you need is a web server on the internal network.

How is Something Awful compared to GAF?

I was thinking of joining but I don't want to invest $10 to bite without knowing how it tastes first.

The more important question would be is SA blocked at your work?

So I bought something on my credit card, paid it off, got it and am going to return it. How exactly do I get refunded? Will they send the money to my bank account? Or what?

They'll credit your card back the amount you paid. It'll appear as a negative charge on your bill.
